Yes, it is amazing that she could do this at the age of 50, but I thought it looked too much like she was being overly cautious during the actual dancing part of the freestyle, not during the aerials/lifts. And as far as amazing choreography, check out the freestyles for Cheryl and Drew, Cheryl and Emmett, Kristy and Mark, and Shawn and Mark. Sorry, but I think all of those freestyles beat this one right into the ground. And Jennnifer is a terrific-looking 50!

Jennifer's quality of movement in all her dances is unbeatable. Lynn Goodman is the judge that I think is the one who is really qualified to judge and he had very little criticism for Jennifer all season she was amazing. But no matter what everyone will always have their favorites, Derek is the best choreographer . Jen and Derek were a dream pair

I don't see why Jennifer's dancing on one movie 23 years ago continues to be an issue! Am so happy after several invites by DWTS, she was able to compete! On DD she had one routine & she had the whole movie filming time to learn it as opposed to DWTS, with more challenging routines with much less time to learn them. She & Derek rocked season 11!She earned & deseved the win! Personally, I prefer to watch great talent on DWTS! That's what draws me to watch the show! Miss Jennifer & Derek!

To all those who say Jennifer should'nt have won because the show is supposed to be people with no experience learning to dance. The producers decide what the show is about,and they have always had people with varying degrees of experience. They have been asking Jen to be on the show since the 1st season ,so the show was never meant to be only people who have never done any dancing If you watch any of the rehearsals you will see that it did not come easily to Jen. She worked very hard! .

Well, I must say this dance was pretty great. Derek always has alot of tricks on his mind. I still think Kyle Masseys dance was better. But this is a very close second. But this season, I know that Chelsea and Marks freestyle is gonna blow this dance away for sure ! :) Great job though guys :)
@1999mistyandme1999 I don't know what you're basing this assumption on since so far Jennifer and Derek's dances have blown away Chelsea's and Marks, Watch Jen's Cha Cha Cha and Jive then watch Chelsea's . Even though this isn't as crisp and clean as jen usually is the tricks and spins were amazing and the connection to Dirty Dancing makes this unforgettable. Chelsea is super cute and she's doing very well,but she is not in Jennifer's league!

As far as the freestyle dance goes, I've seen better. Kyle's freestyle ranks up there with Apolo and Helio. It got old hearing Jennifer complain about her aches and pains. I think she had more talent than lobbying for the PITY vote.
@swttxcat She didn't loby for the pity vote, the producers chose to focus on her injuries instead of her talent, even the other pros said that Jennifer was the best dancer of season 11 and this freestyle was EPIC, the dirty dancing remix was fantastic, Kyle was likeable, but not a good technical dancer the technique in this routine is far more superior and hip hop's been done too many times before on this show.
I know right? The whole thing was basically Derek carrying her around,, but don't get me wrong they did to very good all season but I think it has to do with performance, for example: I was always looking forward to Kyles dances because I knew know matter what kind of dance it was it would be entertaining.

Jennifer said she was going to have botox before dwts but her husband ask her not to. She decided against it because he said she looks great the way she is. Whether she has ever had botox I don't know but her face does not have that funny frozen look . She has some wrinkles but overall I think she looks really great. Her body is amazing , She takes care of herself and Derek said she is really flexible not just for someone who is 50 but anyone. What difference does it really make ?

Jennifer most definitely was the best on season 11! she did justice to the amazing & challenging choreography by Derek Hough. I know Derek can make his partners look good but Jennifer's natural talent ,stunning grace and personality made each performance incredibly fantastic, beautifully danced & portrayed! Jennifer WAS really good, and deserved to win, but... I thought the choreography had to be original? Derek "borrowed" over half of the dance of Penny & Johnny to this song from Dirty Dancing. Kinda cheap. The watermelon was funny though; if he had just left it at that...

@meganriosbeauty ...i agree! kyle should have won. i couldn't stand bristol palin until it dawned on me that she was really the only one that season who truly had no "entertainment" experience, etc. near the end and then i was kind of pulling for her.
i know a lot of people liked this freestyle, but watching it now months later that i don't really care, she looked awkward and stiff with a lot of the non-dance moves-she didn't pull of the "character" of the dance...JUST an opinion! :)
You can see the joy coming from Jennifer. I think she was the only celebrety there that actually did this simply for the love of dancing. If she wanted to use this to revive her career , she would have done it long ago because they ask her every season from the beginning. It makes me happy just to watch, and she really worked hard, so no matter what anybody said she deserved to win!!!!
Jennifer's body is more flexible than Kyles or Bristols. I doubt if either one of them would even attempt to do the splitz or the spins that Derek did with Jennifer.
If there was ever a woman with more talent, daring, perseverance, and absolute passion on the dance floor, I've never seen one. Keep kicking, Jennifer, you've still got it!!
This was amazing freestyle so fun!!! Kyles was fun but if you do a hip hop look at Apolo and Julianne that is a sick dance. Kyles wasn't complicated at all. To all those who say Jennifer should'nt have won because the show is supposed to be people with no experience learning to dance. The producers decide what the show is about,and they have always had people with varying degrees of experience. They have been asking Jen to be on the show since the 1st season ,so the show was never meant to be only people who have never done any dancing If you watch any of the rehearsals you will see that it did not come easily to Jen. She worked very hard! .

Well, I must say this dance was pretty great. Derek always has alot of tricks on his mind. I still think Kyle Masseys dance was better. But this is a very close second. But this season, I know that Chelsea and Marks freestyle is gonna blow this dance away for sure ! :) Great job though guys :)

@1999mistyandme1999 I don't know what you're basing this assumption on since so far Jennifer and Derek's dances have blown away Chelsea's and Marks, Watch Jen's Cha Cha Cha and Jive then watch Chelsea's . Even though this isn't as crisp and clean as jen usually is the tricks and spins were amazing and the connection to Dirty Dancing makes this unforgettable. Chelsea is super cute and she's doing very well,but she is not in Jennifer's league!

@ilovepeterthemost, wow ummmm why be so defensive. I was'nt bagging on them or anything i neem I voted for them like 50 times!!!!! And the whole" so much for not leaving the ground" I was reflecting on the beginning when she said she didn't want to do anything that involve leaving the ground. So whenever u go all out on somebody make sure u know the situation.

As far as the freestyle dance goes, I've seen better. Kyle's freestyle ranks up there with Apolo and Helio. It got old hearing Jennifer complain about her aches and pains. I think she had more talent than lobbying for the PITY vote.

@swttxcat She didn't loby for the pity vote, the producers chose to focus on her injuries instead of her talent, even the other pros said that Jennifer was the best dancer of season 11 and this freestyle was EPIC, the dirty dancing remix was fantastic, Kyle was likeable, but not a good technical dancer the technique in this routine is far more superior and hip hop's been done too many times before on this show.

I know right? The whole thing was basically Derek carrying her around,, but don't get me wrong they did to very good all season but I think it has to do with performance, for example: I was always looking forward to Kyles dances because I knew know matter what kind of dance it was it would be entertaining.

@555grommy I thought Kyle was cute and entertaining, but he did not compare to Jennifer Grey. Jen is the complete package. She is a good actress, performer entertainer and dancer. Obviously the best of season 11.

@shyla336 i don't ask people to necessarily share my views, regardless of what it is; i only ask that they do not overlook facts when forming their opinions; especially when they've been brought forward. the world would be pretty boring if everyone agreed on everything :)
i saw nothing wrong with nicole scherzinger winning or mel b, sabrina bryan and many others on the show doing well (honestly, i found them more entertaining and deserving) but many did because they had "hip hop" training.

Jennifer said she was going to have botox before dwts but her husband ask her not to. She decided against it because he said she looks great the way she is. Whether she has ever had botox I don't know but her face does not have that funny frozen look . She has some wrinkles but overall I think she looks really great. Her body is amazing , She takes care of herself and Derek said she is really flexible not just for someone who is 50 but anyone. What difference does it really make ?

@jenougherfan exactly.....it's a matter of taking great care of one's body & state of mind. She's done an amazing job She looks amazing,and she has the body & the energy of a 25 year old. If she had no spinal issues from that car accident, she'd still be dancing & doing air lifts!

ok i'm going to try this one more time: the people who defend jennifer grey state they are fans: as her fans i would expect that you'd have the knowledge that she didn't just have "ballet lessons as a kid", etc. she went to a college for it as well-it's simple to look up her bio and find it!! why are you all in denial about that aspect? lol also, @shyla336 she HAS so had more than just a nose job and has proudly admitted to it. she's had a face lift and botox.

Jennifer most definitely was the best on season 11! she did justice to the amazing & challenging choreography by Derek Hough. I know Derek can make his partners look good but Jennifer's natural talent ,stunning grace and personality made each performance incredibly fantastic, beautifully danced & portrayed! Best of DWTS ever!

Jennifer WAS really good, and deserved to win, but... I thought the choreography had to be original? Derek "borrowed" over half of the dance of Penny & Johnny to this song from Dirty Dancing. Kinda cheap. The watermelon was funny though; if he had just left it at that...

@MLFive I really appreciated the "watermelon".Amazing recap of a scene on Dirty Dancing. Millions had wanted them to recreate a dance routine from DD. Some may perceive it as non-original,, but to the many many am positive it's appreciated as fantastic recap, of DD amazingly recreated!t more power to the best couple of season 11!

i know a lot of people liked this freestyle, but watching it now months later that i don't really care, she looked awkward and stiff with a lot of the non-dance moves-she didn't pull of the "character" of the dance...JUST an opinion! :)

You can see the joy coming from Jennifer. I think she was the only celebrety there that actually did this simply for the love of dancing. If she wanted to use this to revive her career , she would have done it long ago because they ask her every season from the beginning. It makes me happy just to watch, and she really worked hard, so no matter what anybody said she deserved to win!!!!

Jennifer's body is more flexible than Kyles or Bristols. I doubt if either one of them would even attempt to do the splitz or the spins that Derek did with Jennifer.

This was amazing freestyle so fun!!! Kyles was fun but if you do a hip hop look at Apolo and Julianne that is a sick dance. Kyles wasn't complicated at all. Jennifer and Dereks was hot and paid tribute to Dirty dance without doing time of your life-plus she carried a watermelon life doesn't get much better than that!!!
