What I mean to say is, maybe in Western countries they have a little bit of a sham going on in order to sell the product to a more skeptic market, the sham being to ADD wax to the fiber of the Ear Candle to create a larger quantity of wax in order to create that "wow" effect which everyone expects.

Actually ear candling is more likely to cause ear infections than cure them. Plus, numerous studies have shown that the contents of the burnt candle are not ear wax, but candle wax, as the same material is present even when the candle is not burnt inside an ear.

@wall0645 This isn't total bullshit. I've struggled with ear pain for the longest time because I'm a swimmer/diver. I've tried EVERYTHING to ease the pain of swimmer's ear and allergies, but nothing has worked better than an ear candle. You're simply inept for asking such moronic questions yourself. Just because you've never heard of it before, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Don't knock anything until you try it for yourself. She's only trying to help people, get over yourself. :)

Since wax is sticky, the negative pressure needed to pull wax from the canal would have to be so powerful that it would rupture the eardrum in the process. However, candling produces no vacuum. Researchers who measured the pressure during candling of ear models found that no negative pressure was created. The wax you are finding is not from your ear, it's from the candle. Try burning one not in your ear and you will find the same waxy substance. Not only that, but the candles frequently produce more wax than the ear canal is even capable of holding. You and thousands of other people are naive morons.

Actually ear candling is more likely to cause ear infections than cure them. Plus, numerous studies have shown that the contents of the burnt candle are not ear wax, but candle wax, as the same material is present even when the candle is not burnt inside an ear.

Ear candles don't suck anything out of the ear. That crap at the end of the candle isn't wax, it's melted paraffin from the candle itself. Do your research, people.
On the other hand, ear candling is supposed to dry out your ears, which (if you don't do it too much) can help prevent infection, and can also aid with the clearing out of excessive earwax. The heat is also supposed to relieve pain and tinnitus.
