I really love this game. The game is very simple yet addicting. Graphics are wonderful, sounds are great, but the game play is super awesome! Drop bombs, torpedoes, or use your guns to dogfight!
@40thStangGT Actually the kill totals for the Corsair against the A6m is very low. The Corsair was extremely difficult to fly and was generally disliked by her pilots. The IJN/IJAAF pilots did not fear the Corsair. The plane they feared was the F6F Hellcat.
@lemonite1 Better read some history the Japs hated the it 11 to 1 ratio of kills the Japs nicknamed it (Whistling Death) its armament was more powerful the the Zero plus the Zero could not turn well to the right as well as to the left so the Corsairs exploited that fact when engaging in combat.The Zero sacrificed armour which soon proved to be fatal for the pilots as all you needed to do is a short burst of 50cals hit the fuel tanks behind the pilot and down she goes in flames

By the time the Corsair saw extensive action, there weren't alot of A6ms left and fewer fighting against land based F4us'. Nishizawa and most other pilots didn't fear the Corsair. You better read the Japanese pov and you will find a different story.
@lemonite1 I have talked to an actual WW2 Corsair pilot who was stationed in the Pacific from 43 to 45 and he stated similar as I have read in the History books. Anyway if the Corsair was a bad plane why is it that it was used again in service in the Korean War like the P-51 Mustang which also chewed up Jap planes of all types.Until the F-86Ss and other jets took over to fight against the Mig 15s

@lemonite1 His name is John Bolt and he lived in Sanford Fl before he died in 2004 I met him at VFW meeting in Orlando and his record stands as shooting several A6M Zeros and some MIGs in Korea.And in the end who won the war so I guess the A6M Zero had its short lived time in the sky and by the way do you who designed the famous Zero? Howard Hughes did and the Japs aquired the plans and made some mods when the U.S. was not interested in the aircraft due to no armour and budget constraints

@lemonite1 John Bolt was part of the famous black sheep squadron if you need help finding his name he has an impicable military record and in Korea he flew the F-86 Sabre. And the P-51 showed up late in the pacific after it took care of the Lufftwaffe.If the P-51 would have been in the Pacific sooner the Japs would have had there asses handed to them sooner with better escort for American Bombers.Give me a P-51 over a Zero anyday hands down the Zero will not have a chance behind a decent pilot
@40thStangGT The P-51 did not do as great as expected in the late CBI and PTO. Pac/Merlins were finicky in hot, sticky-humid weather, and the ashes of Iwo hampered it's performance. These are problems with the liquid cooled engine. Yohei Hinoki shot down 3 P51s in an outdated Ki43! In his last P51 kill he did with a wooden leg flying a Ki 100 Ko.Also, no USAAF pilot wanted to escort B29s. The flight was long,arduous,not to mention boring.

Did Corsairs actually get into the air, on December 7th, 1941? Corsairs were navy persuit-planes. Please let me know, if ANY navy plane actually got up. Hickum, inland, was an Army base; they got up a few p-40 Warhawks. Did the Navy actually get ANYTHING in the air, that morning? Other than gun-fire.

You kind of missed, Pacific Fighters wich is part of the great IL-2 series. And it is far better than this. Oh and a Torpedo is much slower than an airplane.

There's as much excuse to making a game historically inaccurate for "fun's" sake, as there would be to publishing a book without using verbs. Making something "fun" at the expense of not portraying history correctly is an argument often made by people who care not for history... This intro is nonsense because in December 1941 the Chance-Vought F4U (for the gamer: "the blue aircraft") wasn't in service. For the same money the developer of this game also could make correct contemporary aircraft like the Brewster Buffalo, the Grumman F4F, the Curtiss P-36 or P-40 . Additional .... for this time the American national markings on the F4U also was wrong.
But I know - this game is for the kids and not for the historians - and a game for both is obvisously not possible. ;o)

P40s were at pearl, and only other fighters of the period that may have been stationed there were P39s, F2s, F4s (carrier based), and maybe Peashooters.
I hadn't seen any 40 - Warhawks, lots of them were invented then. F4U - 1 Corsairs, they weren't invented then. They were invented when the USN attacked the Marshall islands.
Lol... The American planes are flying with post-mid to late 1942 markings... Any dev team that respects historical accuracy wouldn't have messed such a thing like this up.

@1876alamo don't know if someone told you this so pardon the repetition but the F4U in the game was an unlockable fighter as a bonus for finishing the American campaign and couldn't be used in any of the campaign scenarios
The only game? Please, there is Pacific Fighters (yes, its a sim!^^) and that was before. You can also take both sides, and i here just see a F4U Corsair, wich wasn´t in service until 1943 and definately not 1941, and that is not a concession to playability, since the Corsair is superior to the Zero, especial to A6M2-21 model that is presented here, why i know the model? its the Camoflauge painting, After A6M3 there was green cammo used not white, on the 3 it was spotted green later full green.

No, those were the kamikaze attacks, which only started in 1944. In Pearl Harbor and until 1944 they were fighting regularly (shooting and bombing only). The... crashing technique was invented when they realized they were loosing the war.
Corsair did not appear until later parts of the war and the Wildcat would have been there not the P40 Pearl Harbour was a navy base not US army air corps (USAF)
Look it up, they did actually have P40s there... the only planes that did go up to challenge the Japanese (the very few that could get up in time) were P40s
The flying looks terrible and even so, the Americans got their asses kicked. The Americans never got organized in the air. It's was a huge fucking mess. Sucks how none of our carriers were in port... that would've been fun.
if they had been in port they would have been sunk. It was a surprise attack, and it was devastating because nobody saw it coming. They were pretty lucky none of their carriers were in port, or they would never have been able to fight in the pacific. We would have maybe lost the war if that had happened.

You kind of missed, Pacific Fighters wich is part of the great IL-2 series. And it is far better than this. Oh and a Torpedo is much slower than an airplane.

WOW! that torpedo at 0:39 was michael phelphs? i am no expert but i dont think a torpedo travels much faster than a airplane. i think torpedos were slow as crap.

Japanese mother fuckers, EVERYONE feels sorry about what Happened with the atomic bomb in Japan but they clearly haven't seen this the Japanese caused the Pearl Harbor war they had the atomic bomb coming. So I will appreciate that people will stop feeling bad about the atomic bomb. I also know that aLOT of innocent people died, but also aLOT of innocent people died in the Pearl Harbor.

@Death2RockwayMiddle You know what the difference is? People suffered for decades after that bloody bomb was dropped, and some still suffer and die, more than half a century later. The total loss of life is estimated between 90,000 or 166,000 thousand, compared to 2403 dead in Pearl harbor that is a whole different thing. Sorry mate but your sense of what is justified is seriously screwed up. Just because your american does not mean you´re always right. I am disgusted by you!

Yes, they can be fun... and be historically accurate at the same time too. There's as much excuse to making a game historically inaccurate for "fun's" sake, as there would be to publishing a book without using verbs. Making something "fun" at the expense of not portraying history correctly is an argument often made by people who care not for history... If they care not for the subject matter, than why make the game at all? My .02.

This intro is nonsense because in December 1941 the Chance-Vought F4U (for the gamer: "the blue aircraft") wasn't in service. For the same money the developer of this game also could make correct contemporary aircraft like the Brewster Buffalo, the Grumman F4F, the Curtiss P-36 or P-40 . Additional .... for this time the American national markings on the F4U also was wrong.
But I know - this game is for the kids and not for the historians - and a game for both is obvisously not possible. ;o)

P40s were at pearl, and only other fighters of the period that may have been stationed there were P39s, F2s, F4s (carrier based), and maybe Peashooters.

I hadn't seen any 40 - Warhawks, lots of them were invented then. F4U - 1 Corsairs, they weren't invented then. They were invented when the USN attacked the Marshall islands.

Funny. Alamo is right, no Corsairs in 1941. BTW, the insignia the cors wears entered use in late '43. And watch at 037! the torpedo runs actually faster than the plane itself!! LOL. Great graphic but little kid's game!!

The only game? Please, there is Pacific Fighters (yes, its a sim!^^) and that was before. You can also take both sides, and i here just see a F4U Corsair, wich wasn´t in service until 1943 and definately not 1941, and that is not a concession to playability, since the Corsair is superior to the Zero, especial to A6M2-21 model that is presented here, why i know the model? its the Camoflauge painting, After A6M3 there was green cammo used not white, on the 3 it was spotted green later full green.

No, those were the kamikaze attacks, which only started in 1944. In Pearl Harbor and until 1944 they were fighting regularly (shooting and bombing only). The... crashing technique was invented when they realized they were loosing the war.

Corsair did not appear until later parts of the war and the Wildcat would have been there not the P40 Pearl Harbour was a navy base not US army air corps (USAF)

Look it up, they did actually have P40s there... the only planes that did go up to challenge the Japanese (the very few that could get up in time) were P40s

The flying looks terrible and even so, the Americans got their asses kicked. The Americans never got organized in the air. It's was a huge fucking mess. Sucks how none of our carriers were in port... that would've been fun.

if they had been in port they would have been sunk. It was a surprise attack, and it was devastating because nobody saw it coming. They were pretty lucky none of their carriers were in port, or they would never have been able to fight in the pacific. We would have maybe lost the war if that had happened.
