  • I heard you see the girls tits in it can some one give me the time it happens, not trying to watch the whole thing. thanks

  • @MrPatswayze69 If you're here to see tits and sex you're better off going to PornHub. This isn't porn, it's art. The exploration of teenage sexual awakening. NOT an excuse to have sex on stage and for perverts to masturbate to.

  • I love John's facial expressions <3

  • @JamesisSmiling ikr??!!<3

  • Shitty video quality, and I'm still crying.

  • Just blew my whole morning watching this - TOTALLY worth it! c:

  • God, i just love this show. so...so much.

  • Well, that was depressing...

  • JohnBitch <3

  • It started to suck after 1:53:51 .

  • this was on my half birthday <3

this is such an amazing show. im auditioning in may

  • @hchscadets I'm auditioning for this play on Sunday!

  • i legit watch this every week.

    just for lea and jon

  • I cry when I see this it's soo good thank you =)

  • Gideon <3

  • Can we download this musical? And if we can, anyone who has a link care to share?

  • Incredible.

  • I love this show! Check out these new promos for a new version that is coming!! vimeo. com/33432034 (take out the space before the "com")

  • i kinda love you!

  • so sad.

  • Are they meant to have hand held microphones? Was there a technical issue?

  • @kentrano Yes, they are meant to have microphones!

  • @kentrano It's just a stylistic choice, they've always done it.

  • amazing

  • I cant believe its the whole entire musical thats crazy

Ive seen it once on bway with Lea in it and it was among the best pieces of work ive ever witnessed

  • @Drewaroma I agree real acting

  • @j1angel1v I live in glasgow - hardly culture capital of the world, therefore we've never had any professional productions of SA - and the amount of money it would cost me to have travelled to London, stay the night before I even buy the tickets is insane! Poster, I am forever in your debt!

  • @DarkFairyRose I TOTALLY AGREE!! To the "1angel...something" who made the comment about this shouldn't have been uploaded is just a snob who's prob seen very few (if at all) broadway plays anyway. Yep, if you don't live in NYC then getting to see such productions is a LUXURY for the rest of the country. We could say don't upload movies because it takes away from the theatre experience.....it's crap!! I'm also pretty sure Jon Groff nor Lea Michelle would want to "deprive" those of us who badly w

  • Question: Why were teens back then so unaware of sex? She was really good though :P

  • Did anybody else cry during Left Behind?

  • @JLGequestrian YES.

  • fun fact: i changed my name by deed poll to Moritz Stiefel. why? because im just that cool

  • I wish they made this into a DVD i would buy it!! its a lovely performance. Lea Michele has such a lovely voice! x

  • Lauren is the best and ONLY Ilse, no contest. Phoebe suits her original role of Anna but not Ilse, she doesn't have enough emotion in her speech and singing voice, sorry.

  • Until I fully listened to the play, I never understood it. I assume it's all based on Melchior's first diary entry on shame. The whole story is based on shame, right? Wendla's mother is ashamed of her daughter's pregnancy, Moritz is ashames of his exotic dreams, The teachers were ashamed of their alteration on the tests so they sought for a scapegoat... IT MAKES SENSE TO ME! yay.

  • camera work was a bit distracting but amazing production, I'm playing melchior in a few months with curtain call theatre group.

  • @MeeAndChicken Seeing as this was 2 months ago, looks like we'll be playing Melchior at the same time. I'll be doing it next month. Nice.

  • @elsephen Cool.. I perform at the end of feb! Can't wait now :)

  • My favorite play of all time. Saw it for the first time when I was 14 and it really affected me, I really thought about how these things happen to teenagers and how we're all misunderstood sometimes. Moritz had the most profound affect on me with his suicide and his father's actions beforehand and after, yet I identified a lot with Melchior. Proud to be one of THE GUILTY ONES!!!

  • 0:25 Cat

  • lea michele has the perfect voice for a ghost. she has the most haunting voice ever.

  • whispering is such a hauntingly beautiful song.

  • Why do they use hand held microphones in this instead of radio mics?

  • @musicaltheatrelovify They used both. There were radio mics attached to their heads used for the dialogue. They used hand held mics for the songs. The theatrical reason was that the music was the 19th century character's inner-selves expressing themselves through contemporary music.

  • I wish I could have seen the original broadway cast. I just saw a production here in South Beach at the Colony Theatre today. It was good, but the original is biblical.

  • there is no way that they were 14 wen they did dis

  • i cat believe there 14.. but still AMAZING<3

  • @sourjess Lea Michele was NOT 14 during this. no way.

  • @TickleMePurplee i MEAN her character was 14 years old.

  • how can her mother let her act in this?

  • i saw the touring cast in Miami last year and the Moritz was better but the Ilse is better in this one. Thank you for posting this :)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you 571578947589430257849x! I absolutely love this musical, and I'm thrilled that I found it! :)

  • What is Melchior DOING during Totally Fucked? Those arm movements?

  • @InsomniaCafe It's like an abridged version of the routine they do in "Touch me" and the one he does in "Mirror Blue Night", it's his way of escaping the situation.

  • I love Moritz and Moritz's hair fucking rocks I have a teddybear named Moritz

    Moritz for President!

  • i love lea michele but i wonder wat her boyfriend willt hink about this

  • You. Are. The. Best.

THANK YOU!!!! I never got to see the show but now I can! :D

  • LEA MICHELLE PLEASE MAKE JOHNATAN GROFF HETERO!!! :D

  • @333salvatoregirl Noo then I can't have him! :P

  • @333salvatoregirl umm or not you know lets us guys have him

  • If possible, can you please upload the entire Broadway production of Jersey Boys? If you can't, I totally understand. But if you can, I would be forever grateful!

  • you are so freaking awesome thank you for posting the full thing and again thank you.!

  • I could kiss the poster of this video.

  • I loved it

  • Thank you so much for this videoo!!

  • 42:26 wait, isn't that Phoebe?

  • I'm also nearly positive the character with Georg's hairstyle was Otto in Tour Cast. Was this also a change or am I messed up?

  • I've seen this before, I'm just now realizing that in this version of the show,Anna is wearing green- can someone explain this, and who that is? I saw the 2nd National Tour, so I'm guessing there were changes made...Where is Ilse in My Junk?I'm Spring Awakening obsessed and just realizing this difference. If Mama Reprise is Wendla and girls, and My Junk is girls and boys, is Ilse not a girl?I knew lyric changes were made, but not character involvement?Auditioning for Ilse soon, want to be clear.

  • @jazzymazzyluvsbway This is the original Broadway cast, but this night Lauren Pritchard was off and Phoebe Strole was playing Ilse and Krysta Rodriguez swung in as Anna. As for the boy's hairstyles - you can't base who is who in the National tours by the hairstyles. They switched them around based on the type of hair the boys actually had. You're right about Otto having the original Georg's hair in the 2nd tour. Hope this helps you realize you're not crazy. Break-a-leg on your audition. :)

  • I know this is all art and acting...so can someone tell me when the first sex scene come up. is it real? i ask out of curiousity bcuz it is art and all so can someone plz plz tell me?!?!

  • @crazysoftballchikka The sex scenes aren't real, it's a musical, not a porno.

  • I've been looking everywhere for one version that has John Gallagher Jr. As moritz,he's my favorite. Phoebe strole didnt make as good and Ilse as lauren Pritchard did though. Thank you so much for posting this

  • Thank you!

  • Amazing

  • this is amazing one of my fav plays of all time!

  • I can honestly say until I watched this id didn't think lea michele had any talent cause i'm not allowed to watch glee and have only heard a few songs that i thought were terrible. BUT SHES AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • @AmericanIdiot546 not allowed to watch glee? wtf!?

  • @AmericanIdiot546 You're not allowed to watch Glee but you're allowed to watch an explicit musical with a sex scene, suicide, abortion, and child abuse?..

  • @tellestlavie parents dont excatly know I'm watching this...........

  • @AmericanIdiot546 Ohhhhh I gotcha

  • thank you for posting this. because if it wasnt for you i wouldnt have been able to see this. with the economy the way it is some people just dont have the money or time to go watch this in live theater. this isnt encouraging people to sit at home and watch this it is giving the people that cant go see it live a chance to see it. not everyone lives in new york.

  • john gallagher jr is so talented. he's the only moritz i'll ever like. ♥ thank you for posting this.

  • 0:37:43 - Man hug and FREEZE! I don't understand the boy with the piano teacher's hair. I have never seen the show before so thank-you so much for posting! I disagree with @j1angel1v because this makes me want to see the show even more. I would have been willing to pay to see a recording of it in a movie theater too but they only do that sometimes with shows. No matter how great the recording is, seeing a show LIVE is something true theatre fans know cannot compare to any other experience.

  • As much as I love Spring Awakening, and am sad that the UK run was very short, you should be ashamed at posting this. Aside from the blatant COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, you are ruining live theatre by encouraging people to sit at home and watch it on their computer, rather than going out and experiencing it for real.

  • Comment removed

  • @j1angel1v I am a single mother, 21, with a new born baby. The only way I will be able to watch any of these amazing musicals is through the kindness of people willing to record them. I would kill to see Spring Awakening on Broadway but my daughter needs clothes FIRST. Don't deny theater to people because they are experiencing it at home. If the characters and music speaks to you, it doesnt matter where you see it.

  • @DarkFairyRose Those who can afford a play in nyc every 6 years or traveling shows maybe once a year also benefit. Helps me decide what I want to see when I buy my ticket.

  • @DarkFairyRose completely agree I mean I live in England how the hell would I have been able to see it even if i was old enough and was aware of it then! I dont see why they dont record them we would all buy it on DVD its not as if we want to see it like this

  • @DarkFairyRose I hope then that you support PBS and the NEA. Because unless the government or corporate sponsors pay to have these things shown for free, you're asking for the artists themselves to provide them to you for free. Would you ask a baker or a doctor for free service? Do you want to work without being paid? I feel so much for your situation--which is why I wish our country put more value in public support of the arts, so neither you or the creators lose out.

  • Amazing show, amazing cast, although the girl filling in for Ilse isn't quite up to par with the rest of them. Her singing voice is awful and her acting is flat at times. But hey, i guess that's why she's the understudy.

  • if only ilse was played by lauren pritchard in this video.... then this would be absolutely the best recorded version. but i do really like phoebe strole too :)

  • Wait, never mind.

  • Is Jon Groff a leftie?

  • I sure hope Wendla and Moritz were the two who disliked this...

  • This is a show that got taken off Broadway far too fast. I was gonna see the non-equity tour and had tickets but couldn't I hope it comes back soon.

  • I really wish I saw this live. I missed the last tour :(

  • Their life would be so much easier if they had the internet....

  • John Gallagher Jr, snm.

  • @luvduv2 thanks:) i always wondered why melchior was doing that.

  • @16KatherineRose No problem :)

  • In the song touch me, what is melchior doing to moritz?

  • @16KatherineRose It's more metaphorical...i think he's trying to help moritz understand what he wrote in the essay, and the way they're doing it in the song is just kind of like a way of showing that...it's just my opinion and im not sure if its correct at all lol

  • thank you so much for posting this!

  • wait why did she and moritz come back out for purple summer?

  • @ashpenny27 Because it's the finale, the entire cast comes out. It's not supposed to be part of the story.

  • oh i got it nevermind! is this off broadway or Broadway?

  • @ashpenny27 Broadway.

  • and what are they doing at 1:17 putting the flowers on the ground

  • @ashpenny27 They're dropping them in Moritz's grave.

  • wait so did she have the baby or no?

  • @ashpenny27 She had a back alley abortion and it killed her.

  • @mrstinajonasx2 why was she singing and out there at the end? sorry the sound gets weird at the ending for me

  • @ashpenny27 During The Song of Purple Summer? It's not part of the story. The whole cast came back out.

  • This is my favorite musical ever.

  • I believe that the reference to rape in the story is in Martha's song, where she sings of her father coming into her room at night.

  • How can Wendla possibly have been raped? Firstly she actually very clearly shouts the word 'yes' secondly when they are both joined by the other cast members in song after the sexual act has finished, she then smogs the face off Melchior, and thirdly if she had been raped by him then why on earth would she write to him talking of building a better world for their child? She also told her mom 'I only wanted to feel close to him'

  • @TreadingTheBoards1 it was originally rape but they changed it back in the workshops

  • @TreadingTheBoards1 its in the original play, Wendla was raped by Melchior, also, the wirtters of the musical wanted to make it more romantic, to distract from the dark and disturbing things in the rest of the musical.

  • @TreadingTheBoards1 I guess it's considered rape because she didn't really know what was happening. She didn't know they were having sex and Melchior knew very well what was happening. So in a way he did rape her. Just not in the violent modern way we all think of it today

  • I never considered Wendla to be raped... But Melchoir did kind of force it.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! <3.

  • i love this musical, and was so happy when it was showing in the UK, obviously not the same cast members but it was absolutely increadible! I love it and hope it shows again. Thanks so much for putting up this video because otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch this version. <3 Xx

  • Lol, I didn't realise how big Beefy guys part was when I first commented, or how impressive his CV is!

  • Is that beefy guy at 8:11??

(From 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' ofcourse)

  • i love it! i like the priates song

  • just saw the 2011 Tour of Spring Awakening and I must make my comparison

I like the way Lea Michele sings better although Elizabeth Judd did a GREAT job! but I like the way Elizabeth Judd plays the part better.

I Liked Johnathan Groff better as Melchior

and John Gallagher Jr better as Moritz, although both did a great job here.

I don't know something about John Gallagher Jr, and Johanathan Groff's chemistry on set, as best friends works together really well.

  • Phoebe did really good covering for Lauren in this performance as Ilse. This has become one of my favorite musicals.

  • THANK YOU SOOOSOOOOSOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • CAT! haha no seriously thanks a BILLIONNN for uploading this-you've just saved alot of lives :D

  • I seriously love you for uploading this. I wanted to see it on tour but I can't make it to the show and was soo bummed. But now I can watch it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • Moritz is my dream role, SERIOUSLY.

  • I think this might be the only video on Youtube with a 118:1 like/dislike ratio hahaha that one person=combo breaker.

  • I want Spring Awakening in Holland with the Broadway cast.

  • You are a god. haha thank you SO freaking much for recording this. My favorite musical, and now I can watch it whenever I want! You're the best!

  • I love Melchior and Mortiz relationship! It's such a wonderful friendship!

  • those 3 are so amazingly talented their voices fit perfectly and dont over power the other 2 love them!

  • One person was neglected information about sex, got raped then pregnant, died and disliked this video.

  • @JoTheAnomaly Two. :)

  • @JoTheAnomaly Two. :) ( NOT ME INCLUDED. )

  • Um, you just made my life better. Thank you!

  • thankyou so much for recording this! its the best muscial ever.. your a legend..

but when you cough.. it scares the shit out of me! hahaha:L

  • I would love to have seen this on Broadway with Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff. I saw it in Miami when it was touring last year. It was still amazing! I love this show. :D

  • I've never really understood the point of the handhelds in this show. I understand that it is just a prop (since they all had body mics), but I really don't think it brings anything to the performance. if anything else it restricts the performers from acting...

  • Comment removed

  • @sinatrabooth89 In my opinion I think they're there to differentiate from the acting of the piece. The songs are meant as internal monologues rather than songs to relate a piece of information like most musical theatre songs so it clearly contrasts them and just takes you out of the scene, the freezeframes do this too. I also think it's quite Brechtian like you're watching it and suddenly they flop out handhelds and it really wakes you up and makes you take a step back from all the drama.

  • "Have you ever suffered such MORTIFYING VISIONS?!?!?"

    HA!! I love Moritz!!

  • The correct date is actually February 10, 2007. The cast should read: Melchior Jonathan Groff Wendla Lea Michele Moritz John Gallagher, Jr. Adult Man Stephen Spinella Adult Woman (u/s) Frances Mercanti-Anthony Ilse (u/s) Phoebe Strole Hanschen Jonathan B. Wright Georg Skylar Astin Martha Lilli Cooper Ernst Gideon Glick Otto Brian Charles Johnson Anna (u/s) Krysta Rodriguez Thea Remy Zaken
  • love it

  • Thanks so much for posting

  • Wow. You are awesome.

  • @TaureanGirl11 You are awesome for watching. Thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • I've seen this version before, and on this day a few of the regular cast members were out. Lauren Pritchard was out, and Pheobe Strole played the role of Ilse. As a result, Krysta Rodriguez stepped into Pheobe's track as Anna. And Christine Estabrook was out, too, so Frances stepped into her role. I hope this clears things up. Thank you for reuploading!

  • @rapidreadr73 Thank you. All information is helpful. My problem is that I don't know any of those stars. I only saw Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff on Glee. I heard that Lea Michele starred Les Misérables and that Jonathan Groff starred Hair, but I don't know the date. Thank you for your comment and your information.

  • @Eu4279

I believe, from my research, that Lea Michele was indeed in Les Miserables as Young Cosette (at 8 or 9 years old). She was also in Ragtime and Fiddler on the Roof. Jonathan Groff played Claude in Hair in the Shakespeare in the Park production ( a role his later boyfriend Gavin Creel would play in the Broadway Revival). Jonathan Groff actually introduced Lea to the Glee creator, Ryan Murphy. Hope this is helpful!

I love their chemistry together, their voices blend so well.

  • This performance was in Feb 2nd, 2007. =)

  • @MidnightL0ve Thanks for the information. I added it on my video.

  • @MidnightL0ve No, this date is wrong.

  • @Pauly00001 No. This date is right. If you think you know then what is the right date because every other source confirms this is from Feb 10, 2007?

  • @MidnightL0ve I know it is February 10th 2007. You said it was Feb 2nd. I was just correcting you.

I know it was February 10, 2007 because the matinee performance was infamous the performance where Lauren got sick after Mama Who Bore Me reprise, and Krysta had to play the role from Touch Me on. Later that day, when it was time for the evening show, the stage manager decided to put Krysta in for Anna while Phoebe went on for Ilse. February 2, 2007 had Lauren on as Ilse.

  • MIND. BLOWN.

I love you so much for recording and combining the clips. <3

  • @avarix98 It is a great musical. Thank you.
