The democrats are not controlled by the ideological extremists. They have given the left an ultimatum and set rules about conduct unbecoming. The focus can therefore be centered on accomplishing something. The republicans on the other hand have been ruled entirely by the religious right wing extremists and it has been their undoing. If they had stayed true to their noble ideals of fiscal restraint and beaten down the useless garbage that destroyed them then they might have had a chance.
