Im very skeptical about buying this game anyone care to help me out ? I love rpgs, i love RTS and i love FPS, and i play a ton of League of legends. This game looks extremely interesting but im curios as too how alive it still is, are there frequent content updates? hows the playerbase?
@Chrisboxify You don't need to worry about buying it to much cause its free unless you decide to upgrade to prime account so you can try it out first. I will say the playerbase is extremely low but you can always get into a game and thats what is most important. As far as content there aren't really a lot of updates but every once in a while there will be a new mod server that can be fun. This is one of my favorite games though so just try it out and see how you like it.

That gives you 2 extra inventory slots and access to hellbourne units, but nothing that breaks the game. There's a practice mode where you can duel against bots, but the game is meant to be played with people, so it's best to jump in and get your hands dirty.

That's not possible, is it? The malphas at the end: you see his front view, but in the game it's not possible to see your front view when you're in game! Just don't understand.
@knorieworiebobsnor because YOU play the malphas and it wouldn't make sense to show him from front and show what is behind him. You have to hit something with it - so you see him from behind.

@Spec0pleader both. There are many players online on the map. Each map lasts approximately 30-40 minutes until the game is over an another map is loaded. And you can choose different characters according to which buildings the commander in the RTS-view built.
Savage: The Battle for Newerth (Savage XR) has a more diverse gameplay and more challenging mechanics. Furthermore it is 100% freeware (not just free-to-play with premium content like Savage 2).
@dragonkelv It's not as popular as it should be, considering how great Savage 2 is, but there are always enough populated servers to get good games going. People are still finding the game, for instance, today there are quite a few people playing. Try it out, it's free, it's fun and the community is pretty friendly :)
@S2Seraphin That's not true. In Savage XR you kill units equal in tier with 3 hits, smaller units with 2 and bigger units with 3 or 5 hits. One hit kills are only possible in the Human team while 8 seconds if the commander gives you an electrical powerup that increases your melee damage x4 (similar to Quakes quad damage). Savage 2 introduced a block delay and a block meter. Game mechanics requiring such extra rules are flawed. Savage XR works just with leap vs block, simple, awesome and fun.
@signalgrau83 Like i said, XR wasn't for me. Not sure what you mean by "that's not true" since it seems like we both mentioned it was possible to kill units in one hit. I didn't mean to imply that ALL units die after one hit, but in XR, like you yourself admitted, it's possible to kill in one hit with the electrical power-up.
XR was fun for a little while though, it just didn't appeal to me completely :)
@S2Seraphin You said it like there would be nothing else than one hit kills, which is not true. Powerups are used against structures mainly, you get killed by them maybe once each match if at all. And I don't think the commander would give you such a powerup as you're new to the game and unable to make full use of it. What you've probably meant is that an unexperienced player dies very fast, what he often experiences as insta-deaths. Also that heavily damaged units can be killed with one hit.
@signalgrau83 Both games require a person to have a certain competitive and team-oriented drive. They're not for the feint of heart, but they're both fun in their own way :)
@S2Seraphin True, both games are competitive and team oriented. I've been playing each game for several hundred hours. Savage 2 isn't bad, just A LOT worse. Savage 1 is around 4-5 times harder to master and also much more fun when you're good at it.
@signalgrau83 Unfortunately, when a game is hard to master it tends to alienate a lot of players. Both games suffer because of this to an extent. If Savage 3 is ever made, i have a feeling it would address that learning curve but it might not leave the Savage 1 and 2 communities very satisfied. Luckily, i think at their core, both games have pretty basic mechanics. So yeah, they're hard to master, but still fun to play.
@S2Seraphin Stop comparing Savage 2 with Savage 1 in terms of difficulty. Savage 2 is a totally different level of gaming. It's not easy, but not hard either. People quit Savage 2 because the game is getting boring fast, they quit Savage 1 because they suck and can't deal with it. Savage 1 is easier to learn and harder to master, better for newbies and better for vets. I don't see how that is a problem as long as a game has skill matched servers.
If you're a talented gamer check out the first game Savage: The Battle for Newerth (XR) instead. The gameplay is better in most aspects, just the graphics are worse.

@yondaimeeeeee Once you download the game, you should be able to connect to all the servers and play the entire game for free. There's almost no difference between a free account and a prime account as far as the game experience goes. With a free account you can play with everyone else, but you'll only have 4 inventory slots instead of 6 and you'll only have access to each hellbourne unit once, instead of unlimited hellbourne units. A prime account also gives you access to stats.
@yondaimeeeeee So let's say while you're playing the game, you get 20 kills. With 20 kills you can go to a hellshrine and become a giant, fiery Malphas. With a free account, you can only do this once for each Hellbourne unit (Malphas, Devourer, Revnant). But if you get a prime account, every time your team builds a hellshrine, you have an opportunity to become a hellbourne unit. The two extra inventory slots are nice for carrying items you buy/find during each match.
@daanmagier Premium have to collect souls as free acounts have to. They can just do it over and over and over again. Free account players can only play each hellbourne unit once ever.
@snowyseb I've been playing S2 for a VERY long time. If not perfect, near perfect latency is needed to play well because reaction time is a huge factor. It's a very visually packed game and halfway expects to be played at realtime, which unfortunately on most maps with up to 30 players and varying server locations, is just not possible.
I'm great at S2, my biggest problem is the lag. And I don't have a slow connection.
@snowyseb nah there are better mmo and fps out there but combining both is very good its not so unique to make a big deal out of the graphics are good cause a lot of people to not play due to bad computers fighting system isnt new unique characters not roles in total 8/10 and hey im also just a player but ive played enough games to know a thing or 2 :P
@snowyseb i have played this for a while not 2 months simply because its not worth it... ive checked into the game and its only rated about 5/10 most people dont like it because the graphics are to high for most computers so there is low playerbase. and also if one team gets ahead just a little bit that team will win so gameplay wise it also sucks :) most people say overall the game sucks ur like most people play only one game thinking its the best in the world when its not its really not. :)
@nunkspeed Actually one of the most popular and well known strategies for stealing a game and winning involves creating a backdoor in the last few minutes of the game. So while one team might be ahead throughout the entire game, victory is never certain. A few critical mistakes or a careless commander can end up costing your team the match. Sure, the graphics look very nice, but the gameplay is its strong point.

What are you talking about? Savage 2's combat is awesome and it's a 3rd person brawler. You try to circle your opponent to strike them in the back. Combine that with ranged attacks, Savage 2 combat requires some skill if you want to kill a bunch of people.
@FlyingCowsStudios Have you ever seen the combat in their first game Savage: The Battle for Newerth? So simple but so dynamic! If there was a nobel prize for game mechanics S2Games would have won it for designing the Savage 1 combat system. But this is so much worse! A shame really

Guys I have problem with watching my replays , I have the replay in the replay menu but I start it the loading screen comes out and then it stays like that until a massage comes out "Loggin server timed out " , I am like wtf , this is a replay how can the server be off ?
This game is really hard to explain how amazing it is in words, how both play styles blend together flawlessly is great. You really just have to play the game.
Just because it's a multiplayer online game doesn't make it a World of Warcraft Wannabe. There are many online games out there, and not one of them doesn't have there own original style of gameplay. World of Warcraft is just the most popular, not the father of Games as we know them.
This has no resemblence to WoW what so ever. WoW is about finishing quests and stuff like that while Savage 2 is not one entire world but short matches like counter strike. Just because a game has magic and abillities dosen't mean it's a WoW ripoff
@dragongamer123 theres no best beast char. It's all about skill and what there used for. Conjurers are the ones who repair houses and are good against damaging buildings. Shape shifters are the quick and rogue like characters, also good for damaging building when they use there explosives and the hunter is the all out basic warrior like character.
im playinq sword of the new world its really awsome but i got bored of it plus my scout is beinq so retarded . ive seen this game before just forqot about it . its lookinq really DOPE so im quittinq my game for savage 2 . but before i do is this game really worth it .? i mean by the looks of this video it looks well worth it and a fun crazy game

I tried Savage XR out, but, it wasn't for me.
I prefer the updated melee in Savage 2. From what i recall, in XR, i found myself either killing people in one hit or being killed in one hit :(
In Savage 2, two evenly matched players can have 3-6 minute duels if they're uninterrupted.

@snowyseb nah there are better mmo and fps out there but combining both is very good its not so unique to make a big deal out of the graphics are good cause a lot of people to not play due to bad computers fighting system isnt new unique characters not roles in total 8/10 and hey im also just a player but ive played enough games to know a thing or 2 :P

@snowyseb i have played this for a while not 2 months simply because its not worth it... ive checked into the game and its only rated about 5/10 most people dont like it because the graphics are to high for most computers so there is low playerbase. and also if one team gets ahead just a little bit that team will win so gameplay wise it also sucks :) most people say overall the game sucks ur like most people play only one game thinking its the best in the world when its not its really not. :)

@nunkspeed Actually one of the most popular and well known strategies for stealing a game and winning involves creating a backdoor in the last few minutes of the game. So while one team might be ahead throughout the entire game, victory is never certain. A few critical mistakes or a careless commander can end up costing your team the match. Sure, the graphics look very nice, but the gameplay is its strong point.

What are you talking about? Savage 2's combat is awesome and it's a 3rd person brawler. You try to circle your opponent to strike them in the back. Combine that with ranged attacks, Savage 2 combat requires some skill if you want to kill a bunch of people.

Don't really see how anyone can call this a WoW wannabe. I play both games, and i've been playing Savage (1) since before WoW came out.
This isn't an MMO, its an RTS/FPS.
WoW doesn't own the rights to magic in games :p.

@dragongamer123 theres no best beast char. It's all about skill and what there used for. Conjurers are the ones who repair houses and are good against damaging buildings. Shape shifters are the quick and rogue like characters, also good for damaging building when they use there explosives and the hunter is the all out basic warrior like character.
