@taekwonge the problem with back kick is that on today's systems (Lajust, Daedo, etc.) it is notoriously difficult to properly score with it, whereas the tornado/butterfly/nadoban/whatever you wanna call it has a much higher scoring percentage, making it more reliable in the ring.
when you are that far away from your opponent and he rushes in like that, you can't see what's coming, can you? he could come with a skipping axe kick, a skipping front or side kick, or just some feinting footwork followed by a spin hook kick and stuff like that.. the point is you can hit that move on your sparring partner because you know his moves, but in competiton you'll maybe get ktfo..
I think a Yop Chagi is better in this situation. Or step out and counter whit dolyo chagi. Or stay and give a twit chagi, or mon dolyo.
