  • I'm here because of Batman9502, he is Let's playing SoAL, and he is doing a great Job intro'ing me to this game! Love this song!

  • the fan base of skies of Arcadia is truly a great group of people i have been laughed at for playing this game at school i have been told that turn based games suck...well fuck all you guys that say that but for some reason you just looooove final fantasy. but at least i have honor and skies of Arcadia is a game with honor! the fact that there is no sequel i think is because sega recognizes its beauty and doesn't want to soil it with a crapy sequel. i give them props for that.

  • excelent song

  • sounds central america :D

like aztec or mayan. in a way

  • Skies is a quite the delicacy to be sure. The story will leave you drooling for more, but the battle system will leave you clambering for a white map. (=P kudos if you know what I'm talking about- legends fans)

Skies has got to be probably one of my all-time favorites, but it's one of those RPG's that get to be just a little too much work to play-through for through umpteenth time. Music is perfect though, better even then TOS even IMO.

thumbs up if you want a remake!

  • Que pena não ter podido terminar este jogo! Lamento até hoje! =(

Maravilhoso!!! ♥ Adoro essas músicas de ciganada nos RPG's!!!

  • Should I play this ? it has bomb ass music...

  • @NerdyKidNickerson It's an absolutely amazing game! My cousin and my brother both played this. I massively regret that I didn't. To supplement (and because I have little time to spare outside of my studies), I watched the "Let's Play! Skies of Arcadia" series by Scottish Duck, who has a badass Scottish accent, in light of the fact that I couldn't play it. I've never seen an LP series, but enjoyed that one, and especially the commentary that came along with it. Play it or watch it, don't miss it!

  • @NerdyKidNickerson you should!

  • @NerdyKidNickerson

I promise you...you won't regret it. One of the best Rpgs ever made.

  • She has a large hand O_o

  • @LittleBigKid707b the gamecube version son

  • my second all time favorite rpg.also reiko kodama worked on this. i enjoy her work no question.just listening to this makes me want to crack this game and play it. if not a sequel then at least a remake!!

  • skies remake or prt 2 right now sonic team

  • @77cleetus this wasnt sonic team. they had nothing to do with this .this was made by overworks, which i dont know still exists or not.

  • Aika is sort of oddly attractive...

  • like that picture

  • Played the GC version, one of the best ever games for me. Remember being sick for 4 days off school and playing this 24/7. I wasent really sick btw :D

  • make a SoA 2 plzzz plzzzz plzzzz plzzzz plzzzzz ill buy the next playstation console if you do plzzzzz

  • @NexusofAvalon dude they must make an anime from it

  • This artwork is beautiful

  • If Gerudo Valley from LoZ:OoT and Red XIII's Theme from FF7 made love this song would be the baby.

  • Glad I'm not the only one who loves this song. :) There are so many beautiful, happy, positive underlying meanings, feelings, and emotions in it. The composers in this game rank up there with koji kondo, the maestro of Zelda.

  • @BULLTRONHERO Don't forget Super Mario Bros. Koji Kondo created its legendary theme song.

  • this soundtrack and the eastern air pirate themes are surely the most epic town BGMs I ever heard. Make you feel like in a lively place

  • this music always made me think of ewoks dancing on Endor for some reason...

  • Love this tune. ^_^ Still wishing that someone would make a sequel to the game.

  • hands down the best video game I've ever played, and this is such a good tune!

  • Man, Ixa'Taka was so amazing when you got there. Skies of Arcadia somehow managed to feel epic, like an entire WORLD to explore, Ixa'Taka was my favourite for the music, although I liked the chinese area (how can i forget the name!) with the ships which can sail above the clouds

  • @Maxiemax Yeah I remember having to sail to Ixa'Taka, it took such a long time. Then all of a sudden you start to see green leaves in the air and you knew land could not be too far away.

  • @Maxiemax The place you were thinking of is called Yafutoma

  • soooooooo many memories ^_^

  • i made it to the final part i forgot if i beat it but it one hell of a great rpg and i think they should make another one what caught my eye was the airship battles

  • This is one of the themes, where you just want to sit back and listen for hours. It's certainly one of the most catching songs in the game.

  • Lets find the lone hater and lynch him

  • uhh everyone misses the point of this, i consider this one of my favorite games among the ranks of "metal gear solid 3" ,"resident evil 4" and "final fantasy VIII",for game play, story, music, etc.

but this game is special takes you somewhere new, its amazing how the composer here captured and owned the essence of peru, and they do the same to all the locations, i remember the first time i played this i was dumbfoundead by how a teenager that wanted to save his dad ended up going round the world

  • GREAT, just great, now I'm addicted again...and the game is right...over...there...

  • i too remember spending my days on the gc version S.O.A. i even got the ultimate weapon .... Sky Fang

  • I'm puting this on a CD I'm sending my friend who lost his phone, internet, and cable. I can only communicate with him by mail right now, and he is bored and miserable. I'm making him a CD of nothing but positive, happy songs. He and I love Skies of Arcadia to death, and this always stuck out in our memories of it lol. That says something about the quality of this game's soundtrack in my opinion, that it earned a spot on this CD for him.

  • I reckon Ixa Takans are a fit bunch having to climb ropes and gliding down slides in order to get around. Certainly wouldn't be the best place for my grandmother!

  • Best track in the game!

  • Nostalgia ..

  • I wonder how a vocaloid version of this would sound...

  • Love this game! (:

  • Best theme in this game, the entire song lasts 3 minutes before it starts again ! Rare in OSTs.

  • Thumbs up if you would leave behind the internet, video games, and everything else this world has to offer to be an air pirate in Arcadia.

  • @Andreas0424 i would give up interntet just to bring games like this back......like legend of dragoon, grandia, legend of legaia, jade cocoon, wild arms, xenogears, ect.....

  • @Andreas0424 like!

  • Well, I've gotta say the OST from this games was so-so, with many repetitive themes... save for that one! I mean, what's not awesome with this Indian-inspired song full of flutes and drums? It makes me wanna ride Ixa-Taka again, just to get lost in its maze... and enjoy that game, over and over again... I can't describe the feelings I have when playing this game, so as when I'm playing Chrono Trigger. INSTANT CLASSIC!

  • I love this game more than I love my life.

  • This was my first RPG on the old Dreamcast. D: The story line is so incredible, the actions and even if some of the themes are corny, it was just such an epic game. T_T

  • T_T

  • I would very much like to play another game like Skies of Arcadia. There was a time when all the games I played during a few years just plain rocked: SoA, Wild ARMs 3, Tales of Symphonia ...

Good ole memories of Air Pirating <33

  • This game has got a Soul.

A Soul that nowadays games don't have.

  • Once in a year I play this game.

Why were the games in the past better then the games of today :(

  • Has a Wild arms fibe

  • i love that picture

  • @ShitSoda ye so do I, Good front image for the game is not such a bad thing for sales either I guess :)

  • Шедевр ^ ^

  • great song for a great game !

    thanks dude !

  • like AkimaTV, i too stayed for extended periods of time here, because i liked this song so much. Def a fav of mine in this game. I also liked Yafutoma theme

  • great song to a great game

  • I remember playing the game up to this part and staying on the ladder just in case the music stops. Great music, i think i like it because its so optimistic.

  • It sounds kinda like Wild Arms Port Theme IMO :3

  • This is one of the most enjoyable music I've listened to in a game. It sounds so fun! :3

  • Eeeekkk!

My most favorite song out of the entire game. c':

  • one of my best favorites in this game :D

does it make u feel your in a ancient civilization like mayans, aztecs, etc.?

    south American ancient civilizations :P

  • @rogelioVela1985 Rixis is like Machu Pichu and Sacsayhuaman, i can say dat...

  • @wweebu

    cool cool :D

  • Another kool piece of music.

  • YESSSSS thank you!!!!

this is one of my favorite video game soundtrack songs in the game, if not of all time. UGH. LOVE.

  • 2:03 is where the best part starts.

  • SO COOL. Definitely an all-time great track here. I should play this game again. :D

  • my favorite musical track in the game! thanks for posting!

  • 1:53 = incredible.

  • I remember the first time I heard this song, I actually wanted to get up and dance :P

This game shows how a generic RPG can be turned into something truly magical. Most other producers are just plain doing it wrong.

  • I remember when I stay a long hours in Ixa Taka just for this song :( .Absolutly great game

  • @AkimaTV

I'd do the same thing! awsome game with awesome music!!

  • STILL MY MOST FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao im so hyper right now xD

  • Wow, cool-sounding! I wanna play :D

  • Wow, how come this YouTube version sounds better than the version I play on my GameCube? It's almost like the Lavender Town effect, it sounds better here than in the actual game!

  • This is taken straight from the Dreamcast version- Despite being better in almost every other respect, the Gamecube release had a butchered soundtrack.

  • Damn. :(

  • I was told that the reason the GC soundtrack was so mangled was due the compression used. They had to compress the data (video and audio) from two discs into one. This is why Gamecubes soundtrack sounds so horrible.

  • Horrible? The Gamecube version's music was indeed downgraded, but it wasn't rendered awful. It was still great. Just not Dreamcast great.

Both Dreamcast and Gamecube versions music was good. Just because one sounds better doesn't mean the other sounds crappy.

Oddly though, I ended up prefering one Valuan theme in it's GC version.

  • gamecube version wasn't much worse... it was still a great game.. you make it sound ruined but thats bullshit

  • I said it's better in every other respect, I hardly completely dismissed the Gamecube version. Of course it's still a great game, it's just that the soundtrack was easily one of the best things about the game. While the superb composition remained, a significant part of the 'epic' feeling the game held had been dilluted.

As a result, despite the enhancements of the Gamecube version, when reccomending this game, I always point towards the Dreamcast version as the definitive experience.

  • yeah i like the extras they added in the GC version though so i think they are both worth playing

  • @uglypinkmoose im glad they released Legends, since there were some things that needed fixing in the game. they fixed the stupidly high encounter rate, that way you could at least somewhat enjoy the music before you have to beat up more baddies...

  • @Elc22 It's just a shame that sega had to lower the music quality just to fit in on one disc for the game cube version. Which kinda contradicts what you just said. But your right about the stupidly high encounter rate in the dreamcast version. It's just a shame. Which ever version you buy you miss out on something.

  • @Elc22 lower quality music however

  • @uglypinkmoose They werent even extras, Everythign on the GC was available for Download ON the DC :D they did change a few things though.

  • @dravenroughnecks oh didn't know DC had downloads..... DC was pretty amazing.... it's really to bad how things turned out

  • @uglypinkmoose It's tragic that sega didn't stay in the line of consoles, they would be ontop like they always were in the past. The problem was that everytime they put out a console they would get one-upped By Nintendo or Sony. :/ I really wish sega would Either a: Make a sequel to this, Or B: Relaunch this game on the ps3 or somethin so we could play this game and all its glory with a pretty new look.

  • @dravenroughnecks ya that would be cool

  • @uglypinkmoose do u mean with extra Piastol and Maria's quests?

  • @uglypinkmoose I play the gamecube version over the dreamcast any day.. it would be sad missing out on those wanted pirates, moonfishes and piastol =(

and the music is still great wtf? Xd

  • @tarkeke ya same here

  • @tarkeke Actually all the add ons in the Gamecube version were unlockable in the Dreamcast version, but it required internet access. I remember unlocking one thing, but I can't remember what or how I did it. That feels like such a long time ago!

I need to go play some SoA. So glad the Wii plays Gamecube discs.

  • @creepynut not all of them, I believe there were a couple of items and sidequests, but most of the wanted pirates and piastol sidequests are exlusives to the cube

  • Stupid thing to mess up in, since music is so important.

  • The Gamecube version had a highly compressed soundtrack which sounded awful in comparison to the Dreamcast version. Check Wikipedia.

  • Thanks for posting this in high quality.

  • Nice music

  • Mannnn this is the few things I hated about the GC remake. The sound quality from the DC version is absolutely orgasmic, but the GC version cut a lot of the audio.

  • Well, it's all on one disc. They had to compress it.

Playing Legends first, some music I like better, some I don't.

  • oh really, is that why?

i kept wondering why this sounded so much cooler than when i played it on the GC

  • I love this game. It has a lot of charm that a lot of RPGs lacked

  • top 1

  • This game was truly magnificent.

The Gamecube version enables all to still marvel at it. Give the thing a graphical revamp, make the discoveries explorable and BAM It could be on the PS3 or the Wii fully

  • @WhoFlungPoop2 sigh....let's hope that happens=)

at least we will always have it for dreamcast and gamecube^^

    skies of arcadia ftw <3

  • Man, I want a sequel to this game. It's awesome even now. Its WAY too underrated. Seriously in my opinion it's up there with classics like OOT, and DK country.

  • A sequel would be killer. I played Valkyria Chronicles for PS3 recently and it gave off a really similar vibe to SoA (it even has Aika and Vyse in it.) A true sequel would be amazing though.

  • wish I had a ps3... rave reviews for Valkyria chronicles

  • What would be even MORE amazing would be a prequel.

I would personally want a 360 remake, but I would buy a Wii if they made it for Wii.

  • Yeah! a prequel would be good! Thing is, I'm still in the previous generation. I'm trying to save for a new system, but for now, my only hopes would be PS2, since they're still actually making games for it. Somewhat.

  • SUPRADARKY = GOD

  • One of my favorite games of all time! Still have my original Dreamcast version and Legends on the Gamecube.

I seriously have not played a game that has had its music play such a major part, the amount of emotions i went through playing this game was unreal!

You really have to block aside some months to start this game from scratch lol!

  • Man, I love this song. It makes me sad I can't play Skies since my Dreamcast has pretty much kicked the can. ;_; After hearing the soundtrack for Legends, no way. D:

A sequel? I myself wouldn't mind a remake of this game. Same things just better graphics and Dreamcast soundtrack. But the Dreamcast version alone still had wonderful graphics.

  • Same except for soundtrack. I played the GC version first and personally prefer its music. I know its supposed to have the "inferior" version of music, but its just different IMO.

  • lol it would be awesome to have a sequel to skies of arcadia but i would use this version of the Kingdom of Ixa'taki and have all the other tracks be from the dream cast version

  • I love the beats around 2:00

  • Win. This is possibly one of the greatest jungle themes to hit gaming.

  • This is one of my all time favorite video game songs. 10 thumbs up for posting it~!

  • more skies of arcadia = epic win

  • omg awesome.

  • I heard they're making a sequel, hope it's true...

  • Yep its true... We should hear more about it in 2009 I think.

This was one heck of a game! One of the 2 RPGs (With Grandia 2) that ruled the Dreamcast.

  • You mean it's true that there are rumors, LOL.

  • Reminds me of the victory celebration song at the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi 2004 DVD release.

  • Cool tune! This would also fit a Wild Arms game really well.
