I've just got the latest (808#16) and I use it for ordinary video work. I notice when I talk during videoing there is a lot of background "white noise." Just wondering is there a solution to this prob..(I've uploaded the latest firmware- 0.18). Otherwise the video quality is amazing.
Help my camera wont turn on!! Its tries to turn on but turns off. In the mini sd card there were these files AAAAAAAA.AAA and BBBBBBBB.BBB!! Anyone know whats wrong with my camera?!?!?!?!?
I just got one of these and I have a 4 gb card I set it in my house when I went out and only got 1.29 minutes recording time ?? have you tested yours for actual continual redording ? the guy told me 4 gb is about 4 hours , well he's a bit wrong as I got 1minute 29 seconds which is pretty useless if u want to see whats going on at home when your not there , thanks for reading.

I have never owned a digital camera of any kind so pls bare with me. I got my 808 keychain cam and knew it didn't come with a memory disk . The instructions that came in Chinese and Eglish both didn't make sense to me- question- once I insert an sd card where do I go from there? Do I plug it into my computer and then somehow I'll be prompted for time,date,ect. When I finally do figre how to record do I just USB it into my system and then presto? I simply didnt understand instructions. :(
i just got mine to power up. its not easy. try resetting it but it worked wen i plugged in usb then wen led came on i unplugged it and it now works but i just need 2 know how 2 change date time on pics. but thew video quality and camera are very good which is suprizing. im gunna use it 4 all my rc stuff. helicopter first bcoz thats all what works lol.
I've had mine for about 12 months now, it has only locked up twice, I left it alone till the battery ran out completely and then, I connected the usb up to re-charge it, works fine if that ever happens again, at least I know what to do.
The only thing I hate with it, is the date and time, which many will agree, is a bastard to change, every device of the same model is different of resetting it and I still haven't got anywhere.
By the way, I got this item on ebay uk for £6 from hong kong......
Errr - excuse me but didn't your title say about changin the Date/Time stamp on the 808? Can you please post something about how to do this. The little leaflet which came with the camera explains a bit, but I couldn't get it to change. Cheers.!
I have that 2nd camera that you have. It stills freezes as what happens to the first one. It stays on and off when the battery depletes, when i charge it on its usb port, when i remove it, it stays on forever!
Miine had the same issue, it would freeze with the light on after being charged, so the firsttime that happened i just left it to run out, then i worked, s i charged it again for an hour, came back and the light stayed on, so i was waiting for hours for the batterey to die out again, and i was looking all over the nternet, then while watching this video, u reminded me of the reset button, i tried it and mine works! Thank You so Much!
@zandamandag Plug the camera into the rear USB port of your computer, it has more power for charging, also try a new cable, the one that comes with it is not very good.

I have 1 unit this spy cam.I think i have a problem with this spy cam battery.When i charging battery, after a few hours..The yellow light still flashing.
It should be automatic light off when battery full charging..
@intercoolervr4 If you are using USB from computer to charge then the light may not turn off when charged, mine acts same way. But if i use USB wall charger the light goes off on wall charger unit when charged. It is normal I think for charging on computer for light not to turn off.

i think this has a lithium polymer battery with about 1oo mah capacity so it should only take about 30 to 45 min to charge anything over will ruin the battery. if you overly discharge it will ruin it also.. mine works fine
@adfgfds The only way I can tell is by using a wall charger and waiting for the red light to turn green. No indicator when using it on my USB port, ever...
The unit is a heap of crap, I bought 10 of these, (SD card type) for members of our bike club, every single one of them has stuffed up, the last one being today after just one use. THEY ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.
@vjmwau It depends on who you buy them from, there are a lot of knock-off pieces of crap out there for sure. Mine is still working well after 9 months, but you are right for the most part...
The user manual that I have states that you can record continuous video seperated into 50 minute files but after the first 50 minutes is over it doesn't start recording automatically again. Is there a setting for this? I was wanting to leave it on my desk at work for surveillance but it won't do me any good for the first 50 minutes.
@1scottiemac The settings are very limited, mainly just setting the date and time as far as I know. If you check my channel there is a very covert video clock review which would probably work well for your needs. Look for spy clock dvr on my channel. Hope this helped.
whenever i recorded something or took pictures with the keychain cam, the files don't work, both video and pictures won't open or some shit...please help i don't know what's wrong
@mrcoopmans This is usually caused by a lack of the right codec, do you have K-lite codec pack installed? If not then google it, it's free and usually fixes the no-video issue.
@FranksTechHelp ok, i'm downloading the full pack now since there were so many versions of it, don't know what to do when it's done installing though...does it also try to fix files like on my computer or just on the device? lol sorry if i ask so much :p
@mrcoopmans It allows you to play all the videos that won't normally play on your system, it's a good thing to have even without the camera since there are so many codecs out there today. Just run the basic setup and it will take care of it, I hope, if not then let me know, will try to trouble shoot it with you.

don't know much about this stuff, but i formatted it a couple of times and if i like make a video now it plays the vid, but not always, sometimes it's anly the first vid that i can play, but the rest of the vids and pics i made don't work
@mrcoopmans Okay so it's an SD Class 6 Speed 4 GB card, i wonder if the card could be too fast for the unit since some work and other videos do not. So you reformatted and recorded and it works now, or only some of them? Try a short video 20 seconds a few times and then longer like 1 minute each and see how it acts, might determine if it's a speed issue.
well now i have done what you said, it al seemed okay, but then there was this one vid thazt didn't work, maybe it's some exirement or something? could that be possible? i usually have this problem, when i try this at home most of them will play, but if i'm outside and then come home there is only one vid i can play and none of the other will same for pics. this is the only sd card i have in my possession right now, but maybe i'll buy another one this week and i'll see how it turns out
@mrcoopmans Is it the first video that is good when you do your outside test? This might indicate the speed issue causing it to lock up after the first shoot.

@mrcoopmans Have you set the date and time on the unit yet? Could be an issue, all the rest looks okay on this end. However the Media Type: 0 looks odd, your card may be too fast for this unit, do you have any other micro sd cards around, maybe a class 4 or 2GB card to test with?

When i try to record, it records 1-3 minutes. I leave it charging about 2-4 hours. i tryed to charge without the memory card the ligt blinks constantly, as it i try to record without the memcard. i don0t know what to do any more.i have 2 sd card, one is 4 GB and other is 1GB, i tried bouth of them and the problem is the same.
@cedotodorovic Try using a different cable if you have one. The cable that comes with the camera aren't very good quality and have trouble charging at times.
@cedotodorovic Could be a faulty battery, I would try to run it completely out of juice and then recharge it again. Not sure what else it could be, sounds like the battery though.
Thin-plastic hollow sound: Just like any good DIY-er... Hot glue is your friend. Might add and ounce or so to the weight, and kill heat dissipation, but this thing runs cool, and is light to begin with. Just loosen the two screws, clamshell it open, and spooge some hot glue lovin' inside that case. (with an SD card in-place, obviously).
Increases the hefty-nees instantly.
Need to pair this thing with a quality wearable TF audio recorder, tho. Audio is barely passable in optimum conditions.
@samuraimacisthebest I always take it out because otherwise it tries to access at first, once the unit turns off or goes to sleep it will start to charge tho.
I've shot dozens of videos with mine on-board several RC aircraft. Check out my channel and you'll see plenty. Not the best video camera, but damn good for the price. Now if only I can get the date to work...
This is meant to look like a keychain remote fob. That doesn't mean you can leave it on a key chain, toss it around in your pocket, and let it dangle on your steering wheel colum while driving around. It's decently build, but won't last very long if abused.
I put mine in my shirt pocket or a small protective case and bring it out when I need to use it.
I've had a unit with a seperate TF card slot for 9 months now and have taken 100's of vids and it's still working!
@Yakinabottle Good advice, I have to say that mine has been on my keychain for almost 7 months now and it still works great. I've been very happy with the TF card model. I agree that it should be taken care of though. Thanks for posting!
i just got my Key ring cam Yesturday 11/8/2010 and its the 1 with the T/F card on the side and just the same i had it in my pocket and yellow light is came on and now it wont go back out n i cant do anythin with it. THE ISSUSE CONTINUES..
I recently purchased one just like that, but it actually came with a free 2gb micro-sd memory card. Its been working great so far, it has high resolution video and records @ 30fps, very solid little unit. When i proceeded to charge the battery, it too was taking forever but after 4hrs, i unplugged it from the usb port.
Special note on your first dvr with 8gb internal memory, it was actually a counterfeit version, it was never meant to work fully. The only thing worth saving is the lipo bat.

@Valleyboy814 Sorry the tag.txt in the description does not work for you, will see if I can find an alternative method to setting date and time. Have you checked out the website link that Optic212 submitted? It has a ton of info and shows the various models and related info.
1st 1 I bought (tf slot) hasnt gave me no trouble, Had to reset a few times where been stuck in my pocket for a few hours,
2nd one (tf slot) worked for a few secounds, light stays on, have got it to work a few times just for a few secounds, but its w&nked, They are great bits of kit for the price, Mine just under £5, I guesing there will be a few on the blink but I also guess there will be a few upgradses to come, nether the less a great bargain
Hey Frank, hi again, i came across a potential fix for your solid led cam that went faulty. unsolder the battery terminal, and reconnect, the device may treat this a a hard reset, depending on which model it is as there are 6 in total and all look the same
@mickyscottjnr Hey there, format using fat or fat 32 and this should fix the problem. If it still acts up then use an sd card adapter or usb adapter and plug it directly into your computer and then format using fat or fat32. Hope this helps you out.
FRank, seems to me you could be a more carfeul with the items handling. You say that they both went faulty while in your pocket. I have to confess I was not surprised by this when i saw the clunky set of keys you had them attached to, I'm not sure how well aquainted with micro electronics you are, but this is not how to treat them if you want them to last. @optic212 That's not true, the first 2 were complete garbage, and that's no lie. The one featured in this video is still working great after 6 months, and besides, if it wasn't meant to be put on your keychain then why would they make it a keychain model? I understand your point, most of the crap from China is pretty fragile and complete crap, but once in awhile they do make some really good and sturdy products.
@optic212 The new model with the sd card slot has been pretty sturdy so far, seems much more rugged then the last one. The main problem with it being on the key chain is that the keys can accidentally be pressed and I think that is why it gets stuck at times, so you are probably right about the design aspects of this unit.
I was wondering if either of those keychains are model number DCX-808, I cant find anything about the "DCX" 808 I dont know if its newer or older then the DVK.

I love mine has been working great for about 3 months. It did lock up on my once. I just hit the reset button and all is still good. Great product. Alot of us in the remote control field use them alot because they are so light weight and take pretty decent film. I Attach it to my sunglasses when im flying my helicopter and also attach it to the Heli as well.

I have one aswell, with sdSlot. To turn on ,hold the rear button for the count of 2 then release , it will flash a few times then stay ON,To take a single picture, push front button one short push and the light will flash off then back on ,having made 1 picture. To take video, Hold down fornt button for a couple seconds then release, it will flash 3 times then go out, at that point its recording video, to stop video record, push front button until the light comes on and relase, now in stand-by.

@x28paintball It varies depending on who made the unit, most of these are generic out of China so they use different batteries. Some will charge in 4 hours while others never fully charge. I would plug it in over night and keep an eye on it to see how long it takes, it's the only real way to know.
When it is charging does the light flash? Mine does. Also when I turn mine on it goes solid and then I set it to record which is all fine. After about 7 seconds it blinks 6 times and turns off. What is the reason for this?
@cedotodorovic Every unit is different, mine takes all night sometimes to charge, others only take a few hours. There's no quality control behind the units from China unfortunately.
I brought the new model with mini SD in Hong Kong. The video taken in the store plays on my computer but none of the video that I took are able to be played. The message I get is that window media player can not find the file. Do I need to add a new software to play the AVI video?
@tclaca Sounds like you need to add some codecs to your computer. Search google for "K-Lite" It will add a ton of new codecs and should allow you to play, edit and use the videos. Hope this helps.

you are right about the memory locking up,, i have the model with the micro sd slot and i put one of my micros in and it worked for about 4 videos, then it locks up! took the video card out and hit reset, and it works without the memory card,, it messed my micro card up bad,, idk why,,
@fracasmaster Another thought occurred to me, example, if you unplug a hard drive in a PC while it's writing data it will crash the drive hard. This could be the same case with this unit. It may have been trying to write while it was locked up, when you removed the card it may have trashed it. Hard to say with these units, they are far from perfect. Definitely not fair that it toasted your card tho!

I have 1 unit this spy cam.I think i have a problem with this spy cam battery.When i charging battery, after a few hours..The yellow light still flashing.
It should be automatic light off when battery full charging..

@intercoolervr4 If you are using USB from computer to charge then the light may not turn off when charged, mine acts same way. But if i use USB wall charger the light goes off on wall charger unit when charged. It is normal I think for charging on computer for light not to turn off.

i think this has a lithium polymer battery with about 1oo mah capacity so it should only take about 30 to 45 min to charge anything over will ruin the battery. if you overly discharge it will ruin it also.. mine works fine

The unit is a heap of crap, I bought 10 of these, (SD card type) for members of our bike club, every single one of them has stuffed up, the last one being today after just one use. THEY ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.

The user manual that I have states that you can record continuous video seperated into 50 minute files but after the first 50 minutes is over it doesn't start recording automatically again. Is there a setting for this? I was wanting to leave it on my desk at work for surveillance but it won't do me any good for the first 50 minutes.

@1scottiemac The settings are very limited, mainly just setting the date and time as far as I know. If you check my channel there is a very covert video clock review which would probably work well for your needs. Look for spy clock dvr on my channel. Hope this helped.

@mrcoopmans This is usually caused by a lack of the right codec, do you have K-lite codec pack installed? If not then google it, it's free and usually fixes the no-video issue.

@mrcoopmans It allows you to play all the videos that won't normally play on your system, it's a good thing to have even without the camera since there are so many codecs out there today. Just run the basic setup and it will take care of it, I hope, if not then let me know, will try to trouble shoot it with you.

@FranksTechHelp it's a 4 GB micro sd HC card from japan, it says other stuff like "SDC6/4GB Japan" :p
don't know much about this stuff, but i formatted it a couple of times and if i like make a video now it plays the vid, but not always, sometimes it's anly the first vid that i can play, but the rest of the vids and pics i made don't work

@mrcoopmans Okay so it's an SD Class 6 Speed 4 GB card, i wonder if the card could be too fast for the unit since some work and other videos do not. So you reformatted and recorded and it works now, or only some of them? Try a short video 20 seconds a few times and then longer like 1 minute each and see how it acts, might determine if it's a speed issue.

well now i have done what you said, it al seemed okay, but then there was this one vid thazt didn't work, maybe it's some exirement or something? could that be possible? i usually have this problem, when i try this at home most of them will play, but if i'm outside and then come home there is only one vid i can play and none of the other will same for pics. this is the only sd card i have in my possession right now, but maybe i'll buy another one this week and i'll see how it turns out

@mrcoopmans Is it the first video that is good when you do your outside test? This might indicate the speed issue causing it to lock up after the first shoot.

@mrcoopmans Have you set the date and time on the unit yet? Could be an issue, all the rest looks okay on this end. However the Media Type: 0 looks odd, your card may be too fast for this unit, do you have any other micro sd cards around, maybe a class 4 or 2GB card to test with?

When i try to record, it records 1-3 minutes. I leave it charging about 2-4 hours. i tryed to charge without the memory card the ligt blinks constantly, as it i try to record without the memcard. i don0t know what to do any more.i have 2 sd card, one is 4 GB and other is 1GB, i tried bouth of them and the problem is the same.

@cedotodorovic Try using a different cable if you have one. The cable that comes with the camera aren't very good quality and have trouble charging at times.

@cedotodorovic Could be a faulty battery, I would try to run it completely out of juice and then recharge it again. Not sure what else it could be, sounds like the battery though.

Thin-plastic hollow sound: Just like any good DIY-er... Hot glue is your friend. Might add and ounce or so to the weight, and kill heat dissipation, but this thing runs cool, and is light to begin with. Just loosen the two screws, clamshell it open, and spooge some hot glue lovin' inside that case. (with an SD card in-place, obviously).
Increases the hefty-nees instantly.
Need to pair this thing with a quality wearable TF audio recorder, tho. Audio is barely passable in optimum conditions.

Word of advice:
This is meant to look like a keychain remote fob. That doesn't mean you can leave it on a key chain, toss it around in your pocket, and let it dangle on your steering wheel colum while driving around. It's decently build, but won't last very long if abused.
I put mine in my shirt pocket or a small protective case and bring it out when I need to use it.
I've had a unit with a seperate TF card slot for 9 months now and have taken 100's of vids and it's still working!

I recently purchased one just like that, but it actually came with a free 2gb micro-sd memory card. Its been working great so far, it has high resolution video and records @ 30fps, very solid little unit. When i proceeded to charge the battery, it too was taking forever but after 4hrs, i unplugged it from the usb port.
Special note on your first dvr with 8gb internal memory, it was actually a counterfeit version, it was never meant to work fully. The only thing worth saving is the lipo bat.

1st 1 I bought (tf slot) hasnt gave me no trouble, Had to reset a few times where been stuck in my pocket for a few hours,
2nd one (tf slot) worked for a few secounds, light stays on, have got it to work a few times just for a few secounds, but its w&nked, They are great bits of kit for the price, Mine just under £5, I guesing there will be a few on the blink but I also guess there will be a few upgradses to come, nether the less a great bargain

Hey Frank, hi again, i came across a potential fix for your solid led cam that went faulty. unsolder the battery terminal, and reconnect, the device may treat this a a hard reset, depending on which model it is as there are 6 in total and all look the same

Had my spy cam keychain awhile now worked fine for months until I formatted the memory card whilst in the device to ntfs not sure why format it was?
Do you know what it should be?

@mickyscottjnr Hey there, format using fat or fat 32 and this should fix the problem. If it still acts up then use an sd card adapter or usb adapter and plug it directly into your computer and then format using fat or fat32. Hope this helps you out.

FRank, seems to me you could be a more carfeul with the items handling. You say that they both went faulty while in your pocket. I have to confess I was not surprised by this when i saw the clunky set of keys you had them attached to, I'm not sure how well aquainted with micro electronics you are, but this is not how to treat them if you want them to last. @optic212 That's not true, the first 2 were complete garbage, and that's no lie. The one featured in this video is still working great after 6 months, and besides, if it wasn't meant to be put on your keychain then why would they make it a keychain model? I understand your point, most of the crap from China is pretty fragile and complete crap, but once in awhile they do make some really good and sturdy products.

@optic212 The new model with the sd card slot has been pretty sturdy so far, seems much more rugged then the last one. The main problem with it being on the key chain is that the keys can accidentally be pressed and I think that is why it gets stuck at times, so you are probably right about the design aspects of this unit.

I love mine has been working great for about 3 months. It did lock up on my once. I just hit the reset button and all is still good. Great product. Alot of us in the remote control field use them alot because they are so light weight and take pretty decent film. I Attach it to my sunglasses when im flying my helicopter and also attach it to the Heli as well.

The files listed when I connect the camera are "IMAGE" & "VIDEO" the video file has 2 more; "RECORD" & "VLT" any suggestions or ideas? I see some have a DCIM file?? I have that file on m FlyCamone2, but not on this cam. & my date is in white in the upper left hand corner of my videos. Thanks for your help as well as your video! Appreciate it!

I have one aswell, with sdSlot. To turn on ,hold the rear button for the count of 2 then release , it will flash a few times then stay ON,To take a single picture, push front button one short push and the light will flash off then back on ,having made 1 picture. To take video, Hold down fornt button for a couple seconds then release, it will flash 3 times then go out, at that point its recording video, to stop video record, push front button until the light comes on and relase, now in stand-by.

@x28paintball It varies depending on who made the unit, most of these are generic out of China so they use different batteries. Some will charge in 4 hours while others never fully charge. I would plug it in over night and keep an eye on it to see how long it takes, it's the only real way to know.

When it is charging does the light flash? Mine does. Also when I turn mine on it goes solid and then I set it to record which is all fine. After about 7 seconds it blinks 6 times and turns off. What is the reason for this?

I brought the new model with mini SD in Hong Kong. The video taken in the store plays on my computer but none of the video that I took are able to be played. The message I get is that window media player can not find the file. Do I need to add a new software to play the AVI video?

@tclaca Sounds like you need to add some codecs to your computer. Search google for "K-Lite" It will add a ton of new codecs and should allow you to play, edit and use the videos. Hope this helps.

I roadrace motorcycles and was introduced to these little cameras for recording races.
I was told they are very popular in the RC world and have worked well(with the SD card).
I haven't tried on the bike yet but they did work well on a Mustang even on rough roads.

you are right about the memory locking up,, i have the model with the micro sd slot and i put one of my micros in and it worked for about 4 videos, then it locks up! took the video card out and hit reset, and it works without the memory card,, it messed my micro card up bad,, idk why,,

@fracasmaster Another thought occurred to me, example, if you unplug a hard drive in a PC while it's writing data it will crash the drive hard. This could be the same case with this unit. It may have been trying to write while it was locked up, when you removed the card it may have trashed it. Hard to say with these units, they are far from perfect. Definitely not fair that it toasted your card tho!
