  • Straight, but will not get married. Dumb ritual, should go away along with the god delusion.

  • We are people.. We just outnumbered your votes on Prop 8.. haha we have the right vote.. we voted because it's the same exact reason to why you voted.. but we voted because we DO IT IN WHAT WE BELIEVE IN LMAO

  • tongans will whoop your ass with their tongan warrior tactics

  • and the ones who are a bunch of tools are the people protesting a decision that was made by the people of California. And you look like sore losers.

  • Uh, is this comment directed at me? You got the right person? What the hell are you talking about?

Apparently every vote counted in this case, because two men or two women still can't marry in California.

    So much anger scot-man-able!

  • what do we want? Mormons not to have the equal right to vote, when do we want it? Now (that's what gays really mean when they say equal rights)

  • There is a bigger issue here. The state of California, its citizens, voted on the issue to allow to men to marry men and women to marry women. The citizens said no dice. Now the California Supreme Court is going to rule on this? On something the people of the state already voted for during a national election? What about in future elections on other issues? Its basically saying, "yes, you voted on the issue, but the Supreme Court gets final say." Thats not democracy people.

  • I thought liberals were "tolerant." Guess not. These people are the spoiled brats of the American political family. This bogus rights movement will be the end of the country. Cultural/social issues do matter.

  • I honestly dont understand why the Mormon faith is being targeted. It was the members who donated the money, not the Church. And, I didnt see any kind of commercial on prop 8 broadcast on tv by the LDS Church. So, why the hate on this particular church?

  • What I am, for the record - and what we BELIEVE for the record is Pro-Family. I am simply Pro-Family. Is that so bad?

Is it really so bad to want the joys of children?

I believe also in the sanctity of marriage as such. I don't believe that homosexuality would be ruining that, simply - that, where these marriages are sanctioned, there can be no joy of natural childbirth and children. Can you protest without alienating the members of my faith? Good people, just like you.

  • so anyone who cant have children should not be able to be married? lol

  • I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints... I think it's really interesting we are being targeted for, just like you, have a certain belief, we are not anti-gay, let that be known. For me personally, I have many gay friends and I greatly respect them as people, I don't see them as bestial, I am not bigoted. Nor should anyone label me as such, because that, is deprevation of MY human rights.

  • YES ON 8 ALL DAY CALIFORNIA DID A GREATT JOB.

I AM A PROUD ASS HOLE GET IT RIGHT GAY IS NOT A CHOICE IT'S WHAT YOUR SICC MIND MAKE YOU THINK THAT and i am tried of people saying they where born gay so you saying god made in perfect people i don't think so.... CONGRADULATIONS ON THE PEOPLE WHO CAME OUT AND VOTE THE RIGHT WAY WHICH WAS yes on 8 and i mean that.one man and one woman let god plan it.. I KNOW YOU GOING TO LASH OUT ON MY COMMENTS SO WHAT I DON'T CARE

  • The ban is, quite simply, unconstitutional. No citizens should be deprived of basic civic rights because a religious group - Islamic, Hindu, Christian, whatever - opposes them holding that right. If legislators did not defend minority positions sometimes, then we'd still be without interracial marriages. Thank goodness for Loving vs Virginia!

  • No offense but there is no way Mormons will ever let you receive priesthood or let you into our temples because thats the way we live tuff most of them don't even understand it anyways why do we have to do it the rest of the churches seem to let them why cant they go to them.

  • my church recognizes gay marriage, so much for religious freedom....

  • Razor thin margin? It was a landslide. Why complain about it? Besides, judges pretty much ignored the will of the people and legislated from the bench. The judges who allowed gay marriage without a vote of consent from the people should be fired.

  • Didn't Afro-American's vote 7 out of 10 For prop 8. Why don't these folks go protest in area's with a large african-American population?

  • Lol - us Mormons are a much easier target. Besides, everyone thinks we're crazy anyway so nobody will stop them from doing and saying what would be otherwise considered hate crimes at other churches...

  • I appreciate your polite exchange LemurFox. However it is bigotry. Is marriage identity really at risk? Isn't divorce more damaging to marriage??? And spare me the children excuse. Are you suggesting children not be educated to be tolerant? Do you believe gay is learned or a choice? Perhaps if you considered what is like to grow up gay. Alone and afraid, and be surrounded by so many things that are against you. We fight for us. We fight for those who come after us. We will fight until we win.

  • Thanks for your comments, minus the word bigotry. Yes - it is about my children, but mostly about Society and the degradation of the concept of gender identity. Unfortunately, it does boil-down to the question of weather there is a "gay-gene". So far, nothing has been proven, so our only conclusion is that yes, homosexual tendencies are a product of emotional, behavioral, or environmental experiences. I have grown-up very close with two Gay men and one who is Bi-sexual. They agree with me..

  • So if it were proven that homosexuality was genetic and natural (as in found in animals in nature), your position would be different? We know religion is a choice. There is ever-mounting evidence that homosexuality however is not a choice. You will find the overwhelming majority of gays and lesbians agree with that. Regardless, we will not be denied equal rights. Hopefully you and your children will open your hearts and see us as equals.

  • If it were proven that it was genetic, than yes I would be more in-favor of special civil rights for homosexual couples. However, chances are that it is a combination of a genetic predisposition, combined with an active choice to pursue the lifestyle. We see similar cases where there is a genetic disposition to be violent or lewd. We would reasonably expect that these persons alter their behavior or suffer societal consequences. Having such a tendency does not beg special rights...

  • Being gay is genetic and has existed since the beginning of time, and exists in so many other creatures in nature. We are asking for equal rights. Not special rights. You have a very skewed view of reality. Comparing it to violent or lewd behavior is offensive. You really are bigoted.

  • No offense intended - I was simply saying that we are not animals, and our minds can control our behaviors. Also, that genetic tendency is not the same as genetic determination. I am not a bigot - I simply disagree with you. The definition of bigoted is to be intolerant of someone with a different opinion than yourself. I am not being intolerant, but many on your side of the issue are being intolerant towards people of faith...

  • You are free to practice your choice of faith. No one is trying to legislate your right away from you. Religious zealots have taken away my rights. There is zero impact to you if I can marry a man. Zero. This isn't a disagreement about funding of an issue, or support of a politician. We're talking about who I am. This is deeply personal. This is the American Taliban trying to make this a theocracy where we live by religious laws. It's discrimination and it's painful.

  • A theocracy? America is much less religious now than ever before. The fact that we live in a democracy is why this issue even went up to a vote. You feel that your rights have been taken away, and I'm saying that is being overly dramatic. The good thing is that we can all keep fighting for what we individually feel is right. We can at least agree to disagree, can't we?

  • Well said, Lemur.

  • Okay, so gays are mutants...either way, they are flawed.

  • You walk on water there Philhelm? It's safe to say a lot of things are flawed. Your ability to reason being one of them.

  • If it makes no difference at all, why is the Mormon church spending millions, getting all their members to make calls and donations, and working so very hard over no difference at all? Not trying to feed the hungry. Not trying to help the homeless. They spent all these resources to single us out. To call us less than you. It's so not Christian. We won't stand for it.

  • The reason that the church encouraged its members to contribute their effort to the Yes on 8 campaign was because we believe that some distinction should be made. Not to discriminate, but to preserve the identity of marriage. If every union is identical, than gender identity is lost. Ultimately what scares people most is that sexuality will be taught to our children at an early age, and that people of faith who support a traditional view of marriage will suddenly become viewed as bigots.

  • Sorry. Civil rights issue. And we will win it. We're just getting started.

  • I don't see how this is possibly a civil rights issue. We all have the same rights - nobody is being discriminated against. Homosexual couples in California Have all of the same rights as heterosexual couples. The name is different because the relationship is different, not because marriage is some "sacred" ideal. In today's corrupt society how could it be?

  • What is your opinion on interracial marriages, and when they were illegal? Separate is not equal. Millions were spent to segregate us as less than equal. We will not stand for it any longer. If Mormons or Catholics cared about protecting marriage, they'd do something to stop all the heterosexuals from divorcing. You didn't see them spend money on that did you?

  • Oh we'd love to see divorce rates plummet. Within our own faith the rates are quite good. But to answer your question - I agree that all couples regardless of race, orientation, etc. should have the right to live together and express their love. Fortunately, that right already exists for Homosexual couples in California!

A difference in name is no difference at all. The names are different because THE RELATIONSHIPS are different. If the rights are the same then why complain?

  • Can't you faggots see that the people of California hate you? So go ahead and make noise. It only makes people hate you more.

  • Hate away buddy. Good Christian values. I think it takes years off your life too. Bless your heart.

  • "Los Angeles protests over Proposition 8's apparent passage by razor thin margins "

it wasn't razor thin margins. African Americans voted over 70% to protect marriage and say this is NOT a civil rights issue!
