@russelljsweet For $50MM you *might* find a bare-bones example, but one that's outfitted for (typical) use is gonna be a little more. I've been seeing more like 60 - 65. Training? Easy to get. Remember the 9/11 hijackers? They were able to get training (in which they tragi-comically 'opted out' of learning to land).
@russelljsweet We where in one that look just as nice as this one, and it went for 47 mill. I don't know where he gets this 60 to 65 from. Also, any training start at the bottom. Once you get checked out, you can fly right seat but before you can fly in the left seat, you will need thousands of hours or the insurance guys won't let you fly.
That would suck if your sleeping and you sleep threw a crash and survive, wake up and yah that would suck but i would rather die sleeping than be screaming at the top of my lungs.
If you keep seducing ladies using money as a lure, One of them could have you charged with sexual assault or sell untrue stories to the tabloids the day after you break up with them. People love to believe sordid stories.
Wanna come back to my place takes on a new meaning eh? I think you would hear the knicker elastic snap like steel wire when she got out of the taxi if you took ya gal back there. lol
If you can afford a BBJ, women (or men, if that's what you're in to) will be throwing themselves at you. A private jet is one of the biggest chick-magnets out there. The only way you could beat having a BBJ is to have a VIP 747!
This unit (as mentioned earlier) is a Boeing corporate demo unit, so nothing to do with NetJets. I'm an aviation and technology buff and (private) pilot. No financial involvement with Boeing... just like to pull for the "home team." :)
Reminds me of the reply from an early 777 Captain a few years ago. I asked him how far above ground he was when he HAD to take the controls to land. He grinned. "Zero feet," he said. We now land just to maintain proficiency. The plane can land itself as good if not better than us.
And NOW, we're about to see both Boeing and the forthcoming G6 with a 3D situational awareness display (with HUD?), updated in real time by RADAR, satellite (GPS) and topo maps.
@WillBravo63 I talked with Dad about this 777 Captain statement and he said it was bunch of crock. Captain and co pilot have to alternate landings and the reversal is true. You have to do a few "stage three landings" to check out the instruments, etc. He also said that you can only do this at certain airports that have the equipment for it. O, about my dad, he is an retired 747 captain. Was also a check pilot.
I wonder, since a BBJ doesn't need as much cargo space as an ordinary passenger jet, whether it would be possible to lower the deck and get more usable space in the cabin.
You've already got the max floor space by design. The floor is almost exactly at the widest point of the fuselage "tube" so all that you could possibly gain is headroom. Since you've got 7'2" of that now, there'd be little cost/benefit. NOW that said, there HAS been talk of designing the 787 VIP config WITH a "downstairs" that could conceivably carry a (small) car, stable or kennel.
Thanks for all comments. Nice to meet fellow enthusiasts!
You can see the same aircraft flying in youtube with a family full of kids, from east cost to hawaii, so funny they made the business BBJ look so familiar, very nice. Maybe they are Boeing executives with relatives. check it out from boeing business Jet BBJ.

I'm wondering where you would go for pilots training for a jet this size. Approx. $50M for the BBJ right?

Wasn't rented. This is a factory-owned unit that was being shown at the National Business Aviation Association event in Atlanta.
WillBravo63 4 years ago
usually it would be around 25.000 USD per hour
