Ya'll whose opinions are on civilians need to understand that men were getting drafted, they had to go, even against their will. and yes, they obviously killed people, it was war, people were trying to kill them. So stop being so bias, open your eyes, and shut your mouth, because you werent one of them fighting there, so you have no opinion.
@TaitIsAwesome101 But, do you feel that Americans' right to their own opinions was violated by the institution of the draft during the Vietnam era? Also, there were people of conscience who chose not to go, in spite of their forced conscription of a U.S. government clearly in violation of their right to dissent from their government.
thank you vietnam vets. you are misjudged and misunderstood cause hollywood makes u all look like drug addicts and baby killers. Vietnam vets are heroes, that shit you hear about drugs and rapes only 2% actually took part in that shit and were tried and courtmarshalled etc. thank you vietnam vets
Australian 6RAR Infantry Regiment. He fought in the Battle of Long Tan and some others there in that year. The rotation for Australians was with their entire unit. 6RAR was there in 1966/67 replacing 5RAR form 1965/66, I think, It may have been 1RAR they replaced..
@TR3Y4LI4E Uh, not every vetan is a bad guy. And it was a tactic of the viet cong to make the civilians of villages throw grenades at US etc, so practically nobody could be trusted. That accounts for the murder. Rape, inexcusable though. Still, you sir really need to do your research.
@TR3Y4LI4E Currently at age 33, I doubt he killed very many. On the other hand the NVA and VC were responsible for over 33,000 murders and killings including over 2,000 innocents at Hue. And you? Given the chance, how many do you want to kill?
@buzzymom05, my father always spoke highly of the Americans. He told me a few stories here and there.
He was in the Australian Infantry 6RAR, veteran of the Battle of Long Tan where VC regiment D445 was wiped out after 2000 VC tried to sneak up on the Australian base to wipe everyone out but luckily they were discovered by a routine 3 day Australian patrol circling out around the base, otherwise he probably wouldn't have been here today to still talk about it.
wow, thats pretty intense-glad your father pulled through... I met some Austrailian soldiers when I band I was with played in Alice Springs for US/Austrailian millitary. -great group of guys.
