Hey if any one could help me out im in a Black Keys/White Stripes cover band and i need to know if this would be good or a big muff or some thing else would be better. please help!
@Indy7861PunkGrundge yo, well Dan uses a green russian Big Muff and i beleive jack used a nyc bigmuff and im not sure what hes using at the moment but a big muff of some sort i beleive. So i agree with big muff.
I have a RARE 1997 JIMI HENDRIX TRIBUTE STRATOCASTER and its AWESOME with this fuzz! It gives the perfect Jimi tone and i would really recommend this pedal! IM SELLING MY HENDRIX STRAT (unfortunately) AND IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME
I once had one of these sitting on the floor in my closet and my wife tried to return it to Bed Bath & Beyond, mistaking it for a Roomba. She claimed that when she pushed the button, it wouldn't vacuum the floor. The sales clerk was completely dumbfounded.
I can get a cool retro sound from my EHX Big Muff with tone wicker! ;D They should make the Fuzzface in a nano/ smaller version. I have limited space on my pedalbord!!
This distortion unit is also a good one. Its a more basic unit but with a good overall tone with decent bottom end. This unit and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi are the best sounding ones out there if your looking for that natural tube distortion sound with great sustain. Many of the others are too plasticy Synth sounding.
I bought this pedal a couple of months back and am really really happy with it. I've been able to get the screaming fuzz-tones Dave Gilmour had on Dark Side of the Moon.
@MegaSkoalBandit7195 You could make it your self for much less money! design the box any way you like. Not even joking, check for fuzz face schematics (roger mayer mod). However These dunlop pedals look extremely cool.
This tone hits my soul and it starts to bleed. I think they had to kill 4 unicorns and dry their blood to put on this crazy martian dog look-a-like pedal.
@TeamXTREMEPANTERA If you want a sound somewhere between it being off and dimed, as well as the sound on full blast, without having to kneel down and twiddle the knob. It's a very convenient feature, makes the fuzz 100x more versatile.
Sounds really great. I personally think it would be more accurate to call it a Gilmour Fuzz Face (whether or not he would consent to the sponsorship is another matter), as Jimi mostly used germanium, did he not? Certainly some of his greatest moments (eg. Voodoo Chile) were recorded with a germanium fuzz face so far as I know. But this is a very good sounding pedal. I think the only reasons I have for not wanting one are the space-hogging size and the lack of DC power jack...
The normal fuzz face with the red paint sucked balls. you needed alot of output for it, or it would just buzz. I gave it to my bass player, because it only worked properly for his bass, I hope this one is better for guitars, and has more sustain than the red version.
The reason why this pedal is so good is that you can go from mild overdrive into fuzzy madness by using the volume on your guitar. I always crank the fuzzknob and then control the intensity that way. I actually sold my overdrive pedals, because i don't need them anymore. It is truly fantastic!
is it worth buying a fuzzface and an octavio, or can the octavio balance both? cause buying both is out of my price range but i really want a fuzz pedal. nice vid and playing
Buy the Fuzzface first, THEN add the Octavia/Octavio later. Octavia pedals sound best when run with a Fuzz. And the Dunlop JH-F1 sounds great. But also check out the MXR Classic 108. Same guts, but with a few switchable tweaks in the circuit for added versatility. Just remember, these are SILICON-based fuzzes (Think "Cry Of Love", "Band Of Gypsys". Jimi used germanium Fuzzfaces on the first 3 studio albums (Smoother, less gain). My favorite for that style is the Analog Man NKT Sunface.
Dunlop is very cool! The guitar playing in this vid really does it justice. This pedal does a great job for getting those old time Hendrix tones for those Hendrix cats out there. I pair mine with a good octavia octave up pedal. Tried the Roger Mayer octavia but was disappointed. The 'Fillmore Thunder' by Elite Tone is awesome the octave notes ring out clear undistorted. It rocks a groovy BC108 Fuzz in the same box. Mine was $177 I think. Well worth it!
I'm not a fan a fuzzy guitar, I never really like it but I have been working on a few songs that would sound good with a fuzz sound so I'm getting a little in to it, good pedal!
that doesn't sound like his tone to me. i guess i won't be buying this fuzz. too bad they won't use it with the same marshall amp so we don't know how that would sound

@danthatcan2 dude, just because you use one or two pieces of signature gear doesn't mean that you're using their tone. the Whole idea behind this pedal is it's made like jimi's. doesn't mean you're going to use it the same way he does. I have this pedal and the octavio pedal from the same line, and I'll be honest, my tone is nothing like hendrix when I play. it's just all about what sounds good to your ear and for some people, some of the signature stuff sounds the best.
@hentrow The reason I'd buy a signature pedal and this one in particular isnt because i dont want to find 'my own tone' but jimi is who inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place. I dare you to find one guitar player who started playing because they didnt want to be like someone else, or reproduce the sounds they adore. And ultimatley, no one could match jimi anyway, nor would anyone in the world use it exactly the same way as anyone else. everyone has their own tone already. Dig?
@ohjames88 As a matter of fact, I never wanted to sound like someone else. I started playing electric guitar because I saw the chance to find my own unique voice on this instrument, without reproducing somebody's tone. So, just for the record, I'm one of those people you think don't exist.

Hey PGS-Team,
my Strat / JMP-Board looks like this:
Dunlop JH-1 Wah-> Dnlp Octavio ->Dnlp JH-F1 -> ZVex Box of Rock -> Electro Harmonix English Muffn-> Marshall Supervibe (yet) -> tc electronics Hall of Fame Reverb.
It sounds great on my old JMP with PPIMV.
when I want to play on loud practicing level trough my JTM45 Ri without PPIMV it sounds thin and like a dead Big Muff. Hope you know what I mean.
I kick the JTM with the Box of Rock. Even sounds good on bedroom level! but w/ fuzz....

@TheMushroomDog I thought the same thing, but it is sooo worth the money. I use it very frequently. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

@TheMushroomDog - No DC, just a single 9v battery. Thanks for watching!
