  • There was a story that whenever Ben Hogan company (later in his life) built a new set of clubs, that he would say something like: "Take these down to that little Mexican kid - he's the only one who knows how to hit it solid."

Coming from Mr. Hogan, that's probably the greatest compliment a golfer could get.... Congrats to Mr. Trevino - hard work indeed...

  • online Asian wives ***lushfmlk.info***

  • i took lessons from him :D

  • magic with a wedge in his hands. When trevino got to merion he said,I can take big jack on this course.

  • Why are u trying to compare ur swing to one of the most unorthodox swings in history?

  • Great swing Lee, but it killed your back. That chase move down the line, coupled with the big lower body slide is just brutal on you lumbar area. Imitate at your own risk.

  • awesome lee was and is at ballstriking make your better check my lessons out at hitmanhawky and check my swing out ,lee hit it with a forward leaning shaft down and through check it out at hitmanhawky and thanks

  • it's going to be fun watching golf again when they get rid of these square grooves.

  • The King!! What this guy does, the angeled hinge and an actual squared clubface on top (what you normally would called a shut face), and big focus on a lateral movement on the downswing is the salvation for almost every golfer. Trevino's swing gives you compression, direction and (by sweet spot accuracy) distance.... You can read up more on this type of sving in a book by Joe Dante called "Four magic moves to winning golf" (1962). Give it a read! Same ideas as Trevino express here.

  • Is the new book based on The 4 Magic Moves the same or any good - Same title

  • Can you please explain What's wrong with that swing?

  • Its not a bad swing, but it's Trevino's "Straight Edge Swing".

It's doesn't look like the same technique that he uses - he sets up WAY open for every shot - the 1st and last golf swings are from a virtually square address. Get Trevino's book!

    Great Video, though!

  • what do you shoot because you have a very good swing

  • Nothing!

  • For those arguing about Lee's motion - remember the ball flight laws. If his ball starts right and spins slightly to the right, his path was inside out with the clubface slightly OPEN.

  • Actually the old pga ball flight rules are wrong. Get on a trackman or something. The ball starts where the clubface is pointing and curves away from the path.

  • I don't need a trackman to know that his club travels on an inside to out swing path and the face is square to slightly open at impact. "The ball starts where the clubface is pointing" is a product of the path. Keep watching more swing videos instead of old Office episodes and you'll get it.

  • Jango1000, thanks for the video

Could you please help me understand what Lee was trying to demonstrate at the 2:20 mark?

Was he showing how he got to impact for all his swings?

    cheers

  • Interesting to read his book...I always thought he aimed left and just cut across the ball, but he aimed left with a closed face and intentionally blocks it out right. He teaches the importance of keeping the club traveling at ball level and down the line as long as possible - ingenious method.

  • Actually he does not swing down the line, he swings very much left quickly after impact

  • All swings are left after impact in order to swing around the body. His swing is a block not a release. I would suggest reading his book, Groove Your Golf Swing My Way, to understand his method in detail.

  • @Melkay1Z

Conventional golf would call Trevino's pattern a block - future golfing would *not* mark my words

Trevino released without rotating the club face - there's nothing wrong with that! You can still get a 45 deg hinge to slap the ball, so why call it a block? Because conventional golf theory is made and upheld to this day by idiots.

  • I loved watching Trevino in his prime...so fun to see him when he was challenging the Golden Bear.

  • oh stop it...really so sad and corny

  • i love how he talks about SLIDING THE HIPS towards the target on the downswing to keep the swing path on the inside!

  • Dont' forget the bending of his knees, thats what dropped the club to the slot.

  • Great Stuff seeing this Great Man swing it in his "Prime" Simply put, No one "Worked It" better!! Trevino is my all time Favorite!!

  • The great thing about Trevino is that he understood his golf swing. He was self-taught, but he did not just play by feel. He learned and understood the exact reason for everything he was doing. Maybe that is why he won 6 major championships

  • i agree to Sreybk. characters are lost in the modern time. everyone's swing just looks the same and boring.

  • I always liked Trevino's swing and I am in my mid 30s.

It's too bad character and uniqueness has been lost in favor of cold technique.

  • No matter what any golf guru might claim, there will ALWAYS be more than one way to hit a golf ball effectively.

  • uno de los peores swings, pero uno de los golpes mas efectivos. buenisimo...

  • classic!
