I've had the privilege of taking lessons with Oksana, and she's wonderful! Not only is she a great skater, but she's also a great person! She's so nice and pretty, and she's so modest and humble.
I'm *really* not a fan of this team at all - there are times when I can't stand watching them - but in this particular routine from them is excellent. It is a true quick step and could be danced off the ice and on a ball-room floor.
B&K's quick-step doesn't comes close to the technical level of difficulty displayed here.
Maybe it doesn´t look as fun as Rakhamo and Kokko program, but this one is definetly more difficult. It amazes me how they´re able to keep the flow even with all those complex holds and skating face-to-face the whole program.
Haha, get real. Bourne and Kraatz had a very good quickstep but in no way was it better then this. I might have placed them 3rd in the quickstep over the French but no way over this or the Finns in this dance.
Can you actually give reasons for your view? For example, I'd argue that Klimova & Ponomarenko and Wilson & McCall had superiour FD's to Bestiamanova & Bukin in 1988 because the other 2 teams performed complex choreography from within complex handholds while B&B's FD consisted of nothing but dramatic flailings. For this OD, I'd apply a similar argument because I see incredibly difficult steps done entirely face to face whereas B&K had simpler holds, unison problems, and mismatched freelegs.
Actually, the two arguments are not that similar in that B&K are nothing like B&B (quite obviously). But nevertheless, I was always very dissatisfied with the content in B&K's programs with the exception of the ones they did in 1999 (which Chris Dean choreographed) although they never performed those ones very well IMO. I think it's indicative of their lack of abilities unlike Grishuk & Platov, Klimova & Ponomarenko, or Wilson & McCall.
@gk891 totally agree with u...i'm canadian but looking back i do think that b/k were overrated, esp by the north american media. i saw them skate live and they were VERY slow and simply couldn't hold a candle to grishuk and platov technically. it's unfortunate that the judging controversies of the 90s obscure the fact that grishuk/platov truly were the best team of that decade, and one of the best teams ever.
@quafer Glad you agree. What I really disliked about Bourne & Kraatz was all the hand to hand and side by side skating. Skating with such simple handholds enables ice dancers to skate with more speed and power but they couldn't even do that! B&K had improved tremendously under Klimova & Ponomarenko in 1995 but their improvement really stalled after that. I could never understand why so many people made them out to be so great.

@gk891 i will say though that b/k made a marked improvement in 2003, their last year in the amateur ranks and the year they won worlds. they had better speed and flow this year and their free dance was excellent.
@quafer I dont understand why there was even bloc judging at the 98 Olympics. The top 2 Russian teams were going to go 1-2 clearly even without the bloc judging. And the Russians shouldnt have even cared about what happened with the rest including their 3rd team who they only unexpectedly needed to step up as their #1 two years later after a horrible career ending injury to Anjelika. It was a shame there was bloc judging which unfairly took away due recognition to the top 2 Russian teams.
I strongly disagree. B&K had a significantly easier quickstep (in terms of both steps and handholds) that also had a lot of unison problems. Furthermore, Grishuk & Platov actually knew how to use their edges to speed up around corners and extend their freelegs (something Shae & Vic couldn't do very well).
Both couples had phenomenal quicksteps. Although Rakhamo & Kokko's was much simpler in terms of both footwork and choreography, both OD's floated across the ice and had that wonderful 'floating' quality.
Oops, I said that both programs 'floated' twice! What I meant to say was that both had that wonderful 'ballroom' dance quality that the quickstep requires.
She is every where..In my myspace adress, facebook ,hot mail,im my telephone,in my room,in my computer.I love her.She is so special for me.But she does't know this.I am sure that if she knew it she would be surprised because I have a record, too. The record of watching her.She is fabulous. Oksana has a mastery of edges like no one else. She does not simply skate- she truly flies over the ice. I love her skating.

Rahkamo and Kokko's was more "quickstep" to me than this program. I much preferred R & K's to G & P.

What is the music piece, and who performs it? Does anyone know if this is stock music or custom?

This is terrific. I actually like their ODs better than most FDs. A real classic. I wonder who choreographed this?
