  • What an incredible performance!!....a WALL of SOUND...perfection

  • Genius!!

  • Vive Paris et Satriani ;)

  • favorite live release from Joe, but least favorite dvd because of annoying effects.. I swear the constant camera shifting and craziness gets worse every time..

  • this song is the lydian mode in a nutshell

    live it and love it

  • nice effects

  • This man is a magician on his guitar , absolutely brilliant !!!!

  • The shivers I got down my spine when he started playing this in London

  • i dont care about the affects..i want to listen joe.:)))

  • It's as though he's taken the trippy modal sound of the Doors and Jimi Hendrix and completely dissected it. This is no experiment, this is him masterfully crafting an ambient world of infinite complexity and mystery. He is an artist that has a complete grove for his craft, thank god he has decided to share it with us.

  • In the beginning it almost sounds like the end by the Doors. Just saying.

  • I wish I could wear leather pants and look that cool...

  • The percussion is great!

  • 3 people blinded after this video

  • stop with the stupid special affects and just watch and listen

  • This would have been great! But camera-effects destroy it. :(

  • who cares , enjoy, hes no yngwie ... hes joe

  • OMG....this song make me fly ..TRUE time machine

the silence in 6:21 and 6:37 and the attack of the drummer after it ...AMAZING

  • At first I hated the camera effects on this video, but now I've come to love it. It displays Joe in such a way that shows the melodic guitar god he is.

  • mi fai venire!!! I do enjoy!!!

  • Amazing song, monster playing, but why show Joe like this? Too much trippy.....

  • These effects idiots ruined the video!

    Damn!

  • 4:27 to 4:53 reminds me of Patrick Rondat. Or is it that Rondat sounds like Satriani? Looking at discographies I can't tell (yet) who came up with that sound. Anybody know?

  • fuck dat mother fucking idiot who gave all these fucking stupid visuals ....ruined every good thing...

  • i wanna throw that little dislike button into a time machine so dinosaurs eat it

  • Thanks for posting this, otherwise I would've bought this! I can still get the CD so that's okay. What kills me is that if you focus on the actual show, the lighting looks really cool! Joe didn't need this crappy editing to make himself look "cool" or something..

  • intro music was great but too many visual effects

  • It is all messed -up with the effects or what we simply called it editing without brain..Sorry to visit this page.

  • #$%$#!!

  • I think a few effects would be good, but not being able to see his hands make magic ruins the fun!

  • i guess im the only who enjoys the visual effects hahaha

  • Fantastic song. Video effects heavy-handed.

  • I think he's god

  • i don't anderstand the visual effetcs...anyway, amazing song writting and playing by Matsre Satriani!!! :)

  • key to making this video;

    1. eat a fist-full of pingers

    2. open up the most rudimentary and basic video program.

    3. violently attack buttons at will.

  • It's just his awesome guitar playing messing up the cameras... :)

  • Yeah, i Was there with my Brother, Yeah Yeah Yeah. hell yes :)

  • Intro sounds like The Doors, The End Intro.

  • @robert1268 Outro.

  • The New Live DVD from his 2010/11 tour will be out this fall, it was filmed in Montreal.

  • after hearing the intro part, I became a fan all over again!

  • The entire DVD would have been much better without the special effects.

  • yea...as much as I love Joe and his music....these vids make my eyes hurt

  • crazy good video effects but idk if they should go with this video

  • ABSOLUTELY PURE AMAZEMENT THIS SONG REALLY REFLECTS ALL THOSE YEARS HE;S BEEN IN THE MUSIC BUSSINESS

  • What an outrageously outstanding concert this was. I'm loving listening to it - all the parts. Thanks Joe and gang.

  • vid efx, fully way retro...love it...throwback to Santana, Sly'sFamilyStone with PinchyPete...wouldn't change a frame or bar of this production. We love Joe

  • This guy is a absolute freak of nature.

  • SUPERB !!!!

  • oh no, the rhythm guitarist is using an SG!! what has this world turned into?

  • he seriously looks like he's 30 o_O damn!

  • And he plays it flawlessly while wearing those confounded sunglasses. How?

  • @driverofsound this guy taught ppl such as kirk hammett ans steve via, he can play guitar with no hands and still make it sound amazing

  • joe is the one,, all the guitarist pro today ..reffer to joe .

  • Probably the most passionate, intense guitar instrumental I have ever heard.

    An extravaganza.

No words can adequately describe this musical journey of meditation and soul-stirring enchantment.

  • I didn't know Riddick plays the guitar.

  • @Ragitsu ha... this riddick has been around allot longer

  • @mewetea119

    Fair enough :-).

  • A huge surprise for me when I witnessed this song live. I could not believe he played it. It is easily one of his biggest instrumentals since Flying In a Blue Dream.

I bought his vid Live in Paris and it was a huge mistake editing ALL the songs like this. His G3 stuff is good too but should have done his new vid justice by doing it like Live in San Fran but in blu ray.

  • Im going to buy the DVD set... but only to rip the audio to my mp3 collection. What an amaturish use of effects and editing :(

  • @IncisalEdges LOL why not just by the CD then? Personnally, I like the effects.

  • @davescherping1 in case the dvd has some cool behind the scenes stuff or something :)

  • From 6:38 to about 6:58 has never sounded more vibrant or made more sense. Sounds better than the studio version, which is really saying a lot.

  • Excellent song. DVD a disappointment though. Thanks for sharing.

  • one of my favorite songs - just felt that nothing really was told in this solo.

  • absalutely EPIC!!! satch at his best

  • Comment removed

  • Satriani's scales and timing unbelievable emotional and technic

  • four days after my brother passed away, he was floating along with them

  • I own this DVD and they really messed up the editing. They should have just left it with Joe on stage and it would have been so much better.

  • Love the effect.. Thinks it makes the musical experience stronger!

  • Incredible live version, one of the best I've ever heard. Even better than the one on the album.

  • @marboeus TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! :D

  • tooo much editing ya eyes hurt

  • @psychomonkey44 these are my two favorite satriani songs as well :)

  • this is king of the world for guitar plaiyng!!!

  • i swear this shouldve just been an album rather than a video DVD, the guitar work is on the spot but the camera editting is rubbish

  • 'my eyes hurt'....get over it!!!...do you want mommy??....talk about weak!!!...He puts a few fx in there to make interesting and you guys won't shut up about it...so predictable....There are tonnes of Satch clips on You Tube without camera fx...so load them up you douchebags. The fx are for the kids....

  • he is a revolutionary

  • If u close ure eyes during the intro, its really relaxing

  • te iubesc mult pui drag...

  • Well, you know you might complain about visuals here (maybe you're right, too), but here's the thing: in audio, Joe never-never-ever makes us disappointed! What a musician.

  • my ears are in heaven its so dreamy, gets you lost in time & space!

  • lol, ever thought of watching this on acid? x-)

  • yum, prhgian! :-)

  • SEIZURES.

  • @psychomonkey44- you must be a fan of the lydian mode if you like both Time Machine and Flying In A Blue Dream.

  • damn they should change the visual effects emmediatly. though the music is great!

  • i had chills for the whole time man. one of the best instrumentals ever written.

  • Great sound, but the visualisations on this dvd just don't fit in. The dvd live in san fransisco was way better. I like the cool#9 track on this dvd, but the shoot at joe's epic moment on that track was a faillure. It's too bad that you can't see the fingerworks on his guitar as clear as they showed it on camera on the 'live in san fransisco dvd'. it's less personal that way, i think.

  • Only One Word For Joe Satriani : EPIC!

  • next time just put your dick in the video

  • amazing, just amazing.

  • Anyone noticed the intro has a strong resemblance to the intro to the tokyo-version of Up in Flames? :- )

  • i was so disappointed at this dvd ]= those stupid effects stopped me from enjoying it

  • I can't but agree. I don't understand why people keep asking for the same songs knowingly we didnt get an opportunity to see a live version of If I could Fly, Shalla-Bal, The Bells of Lal, Motorcycle Driver and so on.

  • My ears are in heaven, but my eyes hurt.

  • @Childinfaith

    Purgatory? :D haha

  • @Childinfaith

    sounds like purgatory. :D:D

  • Ok, I'll admit that I like the effects at the start but after a while I'm just thinking... Ok now, it's enough, quit messing around with the effects already I'd like to actually see some satch too....

  • OMG this is great! :o Finally a track which hasn't been played live as much as some as the others like 'Potato head', 'Extremist', 'Satch boogie' etc. Those songs are ALWAYS played live and it's just kind of a shame, I think. At least that he doesn't play so many other great pieces live as much is. Don't get me wrong; I love Satch. But why is it such a rarity to see him play e.g. 'Turtle head' or 'Shalla-Bal' or 'Flavor crystal' or Luminous flesh giants' or 'The bells of Lal' to name a few? :)

  • @Mystandrain Satch takes feedback from his fans as to what songs he should play in his shows. These are the songs the fans want to see.

I agree with you though. I'd like to see Satch play if I could fly, or Friends.

  • @Kryptic1234 He plays "Friends" on the Live in San fransisco DVD. He uses that other cool guitar with graphics on it. :) As for the the feedback... I don't understand why people just want to hear the same songs over and over. I mean if I hear "Always" or "Satch boogie" one more time I'm going to go crazy! haha

  • @Kryptic1234 How about a live version of "Banana mango II"? Or "The snake"? Or "The souls of distortion"? Now that would be awesome. Also, people knowing pretty much exactly which songs he's going to play beforehand also makes the show less exciting, doesn't it? In a certain way and to a certain degree? This show has a lot of the new songs, though, which does make things interesting.

  • @Mystandrain a live version of banana Mango 2?? A W E S O M E!!! i bet most people haven't heard it or don't remember it. I'm prolly the only one but I would love version of Rubina's Blue Sky Happyness

  • @Mystandrain Shalla-Bal is amazing :)

  • TIP TOP

  • ADoro de mais, é linda essa musica cheia de vida...

    Satrina você é o melhor!

  • i hate visual effetcs but, wow, Joe is a genius behind his guitar!!!

  • One of his best songs, period. Always a favorite. One of the most annoying videos to watch. the effects are horrible.

  • Repost This If you think an unedited version of live in Paris should be released!

    Long live the satch!

  • whoever created these idiotic video effects should have just added Windows Media player visualizations and completely messed it up..why even leave some of the video for us to see? #$%$#!!

  • @rumpelstiltzkin yes whoever edited in all these effects ruined the concert

  • @rumpelstiltzkin I like it as it is.

  • undoubtedly the greatest of all times! ... No parallel

  • I don't know why he called this song Time...and not Time Machine..the two songs are completely different.

  • Hardly New...it's from the Live/Studio Double Disc he did along time ago...if you're a true Satch fan...it's a must have.

  • is this a new piece?

  • This looks like something out of Hendrix's Rainbow Bridge. Is that what he is going for with this DVD? If so, why?

  • Yes, those effects are disgusting. It looks like made by someone at home with Pinnacle software.

  • O cara é muito fera!! Um dos melhores guitarristas da atualidade! Nunca sai de cena!

  • I love Joe...but I see no reason to buy this DVD....the visual effects are just irritating. I'll settle for the CD.

  • Agreed.

  • the intro it's so magic ! reminds me indian music! JOE YOU'RE THE BEST!
