Hi everyone, English gal here. I just want you to know how much I love and admire the Australian people, particularly those from Sydney. It's not just because most Australians have British or Irish ancestors like me, it's because you turned a fairly desolate island into one of the most modern and magnificent nations on earth and yet you're not arrogant, unlike some. The majority of people here in England really love you guys. some things are more important than cricket or soccer.

@KodarKodar The Eureka skydeck never claimed to be the worlds tallest building, again you're lieing. The Eureka is the highest in the southern hemisphere though, and it is the only building with the edge style thing, the willis tower doesn't have anything like it. The Edge is a mechanical room that moves out of the building, the willis tower just has a glass platform outside the building. So again, you're either lieing or just an idiot, I'm not sure which one.

The Eureka Tower is no differenct than any other building, your the one who clearly doesn't know who to read as they clearly said "it's the largest observation deck in the southern hemisphere". As for arts there is a good bid for melbourne however if you bothered to read the paper, there have been challenges for that title, most prominently from Brisbane. The food capital? I cant contest that because i would not know.

@MrCambop I think that you'll find Sydney and NSW are the backbone of Australia's economy. The NSW economy accounts for 32% of Australia's GDP. Sydney is not living off the growth of mining in other states (Services are 75% of AUS GDP) . Out of the 278 Billion dollars collected in taxes for the Commonwealth NSW paid 99 Billion of that, which is 35%. NSW makes up 32% of the population at 7 mil while WA and QLD combined give 82 Bil or 29%, and make up 6.8 mil people or 30.72% of the overall pop.

I'm pretty sure someone who's lived here for 26 years would know than someone who's been traveling for 3 years. Don't call out an aussie on their own country when you don't know half of the history on our country. Fair enough, some of these may be decent enough suburbs but they have the higher reputations.

SYD TOWER/Pitt st mall is the leading uphigh fashion capital centre having over 7 stores that no other place in AUST has, all the fashion editors & designers live in SYD! Syd has over 3370 stores in the CBD alone yet Melb has 2678 in count in Nov2011. I know the correct facts as I work for the gov & im a city promotor!

@KodarKodar The Eureka skydeck never claimed to be the worlds tallest building, again you're lieing. The Eureka is the highest in the southern hemisphere though, and it is the only building with the edge style thing, the willis tower doesn't have anything like it. The Edge is a mechanical room that moves out of the building, the willis tower just has a glass platform outside the building. So again, you're either lieing or just an idiot, I'm not sure which one.

As for arts there is a good bid for melbourne however if you bothered to read the paper, there have been challenges for that title, most prominently from Brisbane. The food capital? I cant contest that because i would not know.

did you all hear how they are building a 3rd MEGA harbour, expanding the cty bigger, and bringing back TRAMS since we had them 1st :) and they are also fixing the hume high ways and did you know that sydney harbour is going under a make over, the casino is being expanded, the opera house will be refirbished, and over 30 MEGA projects are being built. its going to look AMAZING! so much happening. also they r widening walk ways and building wider underground tunnels for cars, so less traffic! :)

Melbourne is rated as the second most livable city in the world while sydney is not in the top 20! sydney has more crime in Australia while Melbourne has been rated as the fastest capital city in Australia!

@AussieVoda oh yes, over 50% of aust biggest and most important HQ's r based in syd, along with the highest rating in domestic and international tourist 2011! also it isnt just home to the biggest and 1st airport, but home to the widest bridge, the largest shopping centre soon to come (200,000sqM in castel hill), the largest train station, the biggest poplation, the largest train network, the largest bus network, the highest income along with perth! NOT melb! & is the FASHION capital. NOT melb!

Melbourne is rated as the Fashion Capital of Australia! and Melbourne has the largest railway network in Australia, Victoria has a railway size of over 4000km while NSW have only 2000km of track (records as of active passenger tracks, try compering all tracks in total!, you'll find Victoria still has a bigger network and Melbourne has the world's largest tram network)

@AussieVoda also the casino in syd, is building the BIGGEST indoor theater space, so all the BIG events in melb will move to the GATE WAY OF AUST SYDNEY! go to most places in the world, & they dont know melb. even putting our icons on the side, syd is stil more known & loved! Oprah even said "Syd more than any other city in the world" & syd has more events held anywer in aust, we have won more world class awards then melb! soon darling harbour will b redeveloped & frash melbs exhibition centre!

@AussieVoda oh and about the police force, cause melb was so high in crimes they needed it before sydney, melb was a stuck hole full of crimes and only in the last 10years its started to get on its feet, i LOVE melbourne, but i know the facts as i have a house in melb and a house in sydney and i know whats happening as i work alot in the area of architecture and history in both cities!

Did you not know Crown Casino in Melbourne is the largest casino in Oz and Australia's only world known casino, star city isn't world know. Melbouren Convention Centre is the largest in Australia, 55% larger than sydney and yet the Melbourne Convention centre is being expanded again, and, Melbourne has more events than sydney! heaps more! Melbourne was rated as the Entertainment Capital of Australia and the Sports Events Capital of the world.

Did you know that the Melbournes Convention centre was also built about 5 years after Sydney's Convention centre..? same as the MCG upgrade & Docklands Stadium, Built after sydney built the Sydney Football Stadium and Stadium Australia. Well it is a nice city... with lot of friendly people... So sad it is expensive and public transportation is a little slow compared to other big cities... But definetly life is good here in Sydney

lol at the building at 1:21, when we stayed in Sydney for my b/day (I'm a Wollongonger), it was the only skyscraper in Sydney I couldn't identify, and my friend Ana called it a "giant Madonna breast".

@MrCambop I think that you'll find Sydney and NSW are the backbone of Australia's economy. The NSW economy accounts for 32% of Australia's GDP. Sydney is not living off the growth of mining in other states (Services are 75% of AUS GDP) . Out of the 278 Billion dollars collected in taxes for the Commonwealth NSW paid 99 Billion of that, which is 35%. NSW makes up 32% of the population at 7 mil while WA and QLD combined give 82 Bil or 29%, and make up 6.8 mil people or 30.72% of the overall pop.

@skyline777 Are you kidding me? There is numorous suburbs around here that have a reputation against them. I.E - Mt Druitt, Bankstown, Redfern, Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Lakemba... I'm pretty sure someone who's lived here for 26 years would know than someone who's been traveling for 3 years. Don't call out an aussie on their own country when you don't know half of the history on our country. Fair enough, some of these may be decent enough suburbs but they have the higher reputations.
