@A13026 Er það allt? Ekkert mál: "You really know Icelandic, say something in Icelandic." Please visit my blog (knightwithoutarmor [dot[ com) for more videos on Iceland and Icelandic. Eða hringa í mig á Skype ef þú villt tala Íslensku. Takk!
@hemisphered Thanks for this suggestion. I just added a link in the video info to my blog post on this topic that lists all the resources and has more information. Gangi þér vel að læra Íslensku!
Thanks for the resources. They're very helpful. Hope to visit Iceland for a few months sometime and would love to go in speaking. It's definitely a challenge! I only know two Icelandic people at the moment :-)
@Haugy13 Modern Icelandic and Norwegian are both descended from Old Norse, so there are a number of similarities between the languages. Modern Icelandic changed less than Norwegian did in developing out of Old Norse, so modern Icelandic looks and behaves much like Old Norse, though Old Norse would have been pronounced differently. Norwegian and the other Scandinavian languages changed more dramatically since the Middle Ages. Thanks for your question!
Hey thanks, I've been studying Icelandic for about 2 years and am familiar with all the sources you mentioned. I applyed for and was accepted into the sumer program but decided I could not justify the trip finaciall, so instead I've made friends with Icelanders online. I do not own the colloqial Icelandic book though I was aware of it so i'll probably get a copy now. Also check out this website, they it will fully decline nouns and conjugate verbs bin(dot)arnastofnun(dot)is/
@lengthyounarther Hey, thanks for this, I'd forgot about that site. I'll add it to my blog post. I can understand the financial decision not to go to the course—Iceland in general is very expensive. I ended up going back and spending a few months working there and am now pretty fluent in the language. If you're interested in volunteering in exchange for room and board, let me know and I can help you get sorted out for that.

Is Icelandic similar to Norwegian because of the viking connections?
isn't it just Old Norse?
