  • I'm sorry Adam, you sounded awesome, but you didn't sound Seymour. And this is like the fourth video I've seen with you wearing an ugly shirt. XD I loved Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, but her voice is too weak here.

  • this is Little Shop of Horrors not Phantom of the Opera, they're trying too hard. mostly he's trying too hard, Mandy Moore's good for Audrey's part. it's a comedy song, it doesn't need to sound serious, it should be lighter and warmer. but that's just my opinion.

  • That being said, I love Adam Pascal and I don't even think he was as good as usual in this song. It wasn't believable for the character at all...

  • Her voice may not have worked for this song at all but you can't deny she sang perfectly in Tangled. It's like with all singers, they can't be perfect for every style, range or 'sound' (which in this one is really belty) but when they're in their 'zone' they can be magic.

  • Ariana & Frankie are better in ''Suddenly Frankie''.

  • she is no good.

  • Maybe her voice isnt suited to this kind of setting. Or she was just having a ' bad day at work '. At least when I have a 'bad day at work', only a few know. If Mandy has a 'bad day at work', thousands know it. =( Mandy is a class act though. =)

  • Aw, Mandy... her voice cracked a little bit... and her voice isn't quite... 'raw' enough for this song. It's too soft, and she sang through her head/nose and not with her diaphragm. I would've like to see her break free singing with Adam. (Who was fantastic. <3)

But, the performance/tuning and things like that were fine. ^^

  • Adam Pascal is SO effin' hot.

  • HOLY SHIT BAD AUTOTUNE

  • OMG adam pascal and daphne rubin vega + suddenly seymour = AMAZING !! it has to be done !

  • This goes to show, you can't let a popstar do a broadway actress' job

  • too polished....not raw....not spontaneous. and yes, her voice is too soft....

  • i love mandy moore but her voice is in no way right for any Broadway song.

  • Honestly, I prefer Ariana & Frankie Grande singing It. It's much Greater & Their voices Fit P E R F E C T L Y. #noHate

  • In the nicest way. This sucked. Sorry but their voices just don't fit the part. I agree that Ellen and Rick should have been the ones singing right then. I just don't think that either of the two are good

  • This is so sad...I love Mandy Moore, but her voice is WAY too weak for this song..I know she is amazing and can do much better!

  • I think she is the most ill-talented "famous" singer ( I can never call her a vocalist, she doesn't deserve that title) I have ever heard. She needs to hide in a cave.

  • @Capellaro7 I'm sure she is taking your critique and depositing it in the bank....with all of her money

  • @kydbrat

    Haha :)

  • Adam Pascal was amazing -3

and maybe it's because the only thing I've heard Mandy Moore in was Tangled, but I just think her voice is more suited to movies. Shes still really good though!

  • nervous Mandy Moore and miscasting Adam Pascal = me wishing for Ellen and Rick

  • My understanding was that she was sick on the night of this performance. She has a long history of strong performances both live and recorded, and I think that accusing this performance of being 'weak' is unfair as she is clearly not in top form due to circumstances out of her control.

  • Stagedoor Manor together <3

  • Both voices were weak and that's a fact!

  • @teewoods He's playing SEYMOUR. And he's singing to his LOVE, trying to COMFORT her. Of course he's going to sing softly. Even then, his voice isn't that weak at all. Adam Pascal forever. <3

  • I think her voice isn't powerful enough... there's no soul, no passion. Ellen Greene forever

  • is it just me or is she like HELLA auto-tuned?

  • @TecstusTV are you talking about like the shakiness in her voice? i think thats just because she was nervous, but idk :)

  • Adam totally rocked I love rent, but Mandys done better, just not this song, personally I live her but I don't think she could do broadway

  • he don't condeseeEEEeEeeeyehndddd.

    =/

  • Adam should have been paired up with a much more powerful singer. Mandy ruined this song and she makes the character of Audrey seem weaker than she really is with her thin, bland voice. Adam can belt and probably wanted to in this song, but unfortunately he would've blown Mandy off the stage.

  • Mandy...there is a reason that you should not do Broadway. Being on the pop charts is much more different than doing a song that is catered more for the Great White MIle. Ellen Greene does a much more powerful rendition in the original and sounds more like she is putting effort into the song rather than a half baked cover of such a great musical moment.

  • @EpohVioletta

I think Mandy does have Broadway potential (just watch Tangled... and the oscar performance of "I see the light") however, either she didn't get into character or this song is definitely not for her.

  • this is my jam!

  • This song is for a lovely awkward couple who've just found each other in a sea of people who don't understand them. Not a pretty boy and the prom queen. It's so distasteful. This is so off key in so many ways. ELLEN GREENE AND RICK MORANIS FOR EVER!!!!!

  • oh my, she's over her head

  • They didn't belt it awww :(

  • I love Mandy in this song...she doesn't have the Audrey personality, but she sounds really pretty in this song....or at least she does in my opinion (:

  • shes so autotuned

  • Adam Pascal... enough said :)

  • She's too wholesome and hes not nearly nerdy enough for them to pull this song off lol.

  • This song is about the transformation of Audrey from a meek little follower blossoming into a strong woman through Seymour's love. Though Mandy has a pleasant voice, the transformation isn't here in this song. She finishes the song the same way she starts it and that's not the "story" of this song.

  • I love her voice, I just think that it's not meant for this song

  • I like Mandy, I could never hate her

Its just, Ellen Greene better for this song

  • I'm sorry but Mandy Moore's voice isn't strong enough to sing this song... I like Mandy, but she is struggling through the whole song. She's no Ellen Greene

  • @jthenderson909 Word. Only Hope that she sings in A Walk To Remember is great. But for Rent her voice is way to weak.

  • @Devil9290 Agreed :D

  • Fã Clube Mandy Moore acessem mandymoorenews . com , unico fã clube da cantora no Brasil

  • I really prefer Ellen Greene to sing this.. there's no climax here, nothing... sorry

nothing personal, I'm not a hater... just a matter of taste :)

  • @EvaOriginZ I agree with you 1000 percent!!!!

  • Adam Pascal's voice never fails to amaze me! And Mandy Moore likes Rent! I love her even more now, haha :D

  • I thought seymuor is suppose to be a nerd?

  • 8P *pant pant* Adam can make a bad girl out of a saint!!! LOVE HIS VOICE!!!!

  • ROGER!!! WOOP WOOP!!!

  • Mandy Moore is amazing. However, this song does not fit her vocal style. This is meant to be belted. She's doing this all in head voice. I'm not hating, like I stated above she is amazing, it's just this isn't her song.

  • @katieromanovich11 its not meant to be belted, that wouldnt suit the character, she isnt a strong girl.

  • @summerbaybelle It's belted in all of the plays and the movie.

  • when did seymour turn into a rock star..... did i miss the sequel?

  • @CrossoverBaritenor lmao, totally agree with you there, I mean Adam Pascal is out of this world but definitely not a seymore x

  • awful

  • What the hell is Adam wearing?

I mean, I'm a RENT fan and everything, I love Adam... but what he's wearing is ugly as hell.

  • i just watched this cuz i saw adam pascal

  • The reason why the song doesn't work is because Mandy Moore failed to put herself into the character. When Ellen Greene sung this song she became Audrey and you could feel her whole entire soul in the song. Mandy is very capable of doing this song she just didn't connect the way Ellen did.

  • This song is about farts

  • she's just... wrong. Adam pascal rocks, and this sounds awfull

  • I like this... it took me a few seconds to recognize who Adam Pascal was, then I realized he's the guy from "Rent"!

  • that guy from rent??

  • It's out of her range, if you listen to the "Adelaide's Lament" from the same show, she does great--they picked this duet for her, it's not her fault that it's too high. If you listen to Adam's part you can tell they couldn't have keyed it lower or he would be singing like Barry White.

I don't understand haters. She put herself out there and took on something challenging. I don't see "BritKnee" or "Jessica" or whoever else doing that.

  • @agramsci actually, I don't think it's out of her range at all, judging by her other performances; I think she might have just strained her voice a bit prior to this performance and the song thus proved to be a bit challenging that night. I do agree that this was an off night for her, but her voice still sounds so beautiful, that pure quality in it never goes away. I agree, her performance of "Adelaide's Lament" is stunning.

  • THIS IS AWFUL.

  • I do not like Mandy Moore's rendition of this, I guess I am spoiled by the Ellen Greene version.

  • @meliciousmaka - ditto, so now all we need is ELLEN and adam to sing this together ;P

  • HE IS SO AMAZING

  • i don't understand though.. Mandy does have a powerful voice... but where is it in this song? awwww Mandy :(

  • Mandy has a really gentle voice in this, she's not really belting it out with the soul it really needs. Its pretty good, but kinda missing something. This song is really difficult to sing. You need range, power, and a lot of soul.

  • I think the reason she's underdramatic is because her is so thin.

  • Carrie Underwood sings this amazingly in her version with Patrick Wilson. If her and Adam could do a version of this it would incredible, he's fantastic here, Mandy is just so underwhelming...

  • Carrie Underwood is fantastic in her version with Patrick Wilson, if you could mix her and Adam it would be awesome. Mandy is just so underwhelming...

  • ...Roger.. and Rapunzel.. and yet it's lame. How?

  • this adam fella, is AMAZING< !

  • Maybe you could try actually acting next time you sing a song.......

  • There's a reason we don't hear from Mandy Moore. Huge disappointment.

  • Love Adam and Mandy but this was not a good combo... Adam definitely needs to stick to RENT and Mandy needs more umph, if you know what I mean. her voice is too delicate for Audrey. Great video just not a good combo between Adam and Mandy...

  • Eww. They butchered this song. I mean, it sounds catchy (especially if you've never heard the original one), but they just take away all the meaning from it. This version has nothing of the original atmosphere.

  • I don't understand this at all. I LOVE Adam Pascal, I LOVE Mandy Moore, and I LOVE Little Shop - but this is just - wrong! Not one part of this makes sense to me.

  • Mandy needs Moore lessons. this blows

  • I love Mandy and I adored her in Tangled, but.. no. Just no. :/

  • was she singing like this under instructions? They would have rehearsed it. We all know she has a strong voice and could have belted out the words.

  • there's just no power in her voice

  • @iiMovie i agree

  • shes singing in falsetto thats why shes not projecting .. i dont know why she would do that she can belt ive heard her she def didnt do this song justice

  • @aphrodite10101 she had to thats how Audrey sang it in the musical...

  • @hillaryrdais47 are you deaf? watch it again. she belts way more than mandy moore. she starts out quiet but "suddenly" she starts belting. I could have done better in my falsetto and Im a bass.

  • @aphrodite10101 Women doesn't actually have falsetto, only chest and headvoice. =)

  • i dont think the problem is that she cant belt. this song can sound great in head voice. she just isnt projecting and she isnt getting the notes cleanly and well. her voice is fine but she should have chosen a song better for her type of singing

  • omg mandy moore sucks so much

  • tht's a good way to look at it.just downloded the complete album from downloadmusic.im

  • I freaking love adam pascal <3

  • This is painful to listen to .....

  • Adam Pascal rocks this song....Mandy Moore however....

  • beautiful voice and beautiful girl. double whammy

  • he mandy.wau .beautiful voice.you are singing very good.lovely kiss from austria.sorry my english.

  • why is she singing so bad? i thought she was a singer!?!?!

  • @Ryanlaskey no shes always sucked lol

  • I am in love with Adam Pascal. <3

  • Mandy.... who? I dont need to hear any more of her lame attempt at singing!

  • @bernicoop I KNOW

  • Adam pascal is great but her voice here is an insult to this song. you don't hold back when your in love and she definitely held back....so disappointed with her vocals

  • shes a pop singer and its not a pop song , that's some people can sing well out of their style , its talent in itself

  • She really cannot sing; not this song anyway. Makes me appreciate Ellen Greene; and why is the damned song sped up, it's supposed to be a moving love song.

  • Adam Pascal's voice isnt matching with mandy's...thats all..!

she sings great and looks great too..!!

  • Yeah, I think the reason her voice is breaking in the upper-mid range is that she doesn't have the belt to sustain it. Plus, the work needed for this song is far beyond what most expect. Pascal was capable of giving it some flair, but Moore was so terribly wrong for this. It's just not her vocal style.

The colour and texture of Greene's voice is rare, which lends to the power of the original performance. They needed to alter it here entirely to fit Moore's voice -- or just forgo the song.

  • we have to understand that mandy moore wasn't on broadway. she doesn't know how to fluctuate her voice to add the musical theater appeal. but in general it was pretty good. she could've been more passionate, but it was overall good

  • Oh wow... Mandy Moore... that was horrible.

  • Forgive me... I love Mandy, but... why???!@#$#%^

  • soooooooo bad. i can't even.

  • 1, 018 likes for Adam Pascal.

    154 dislikes for Mandy Moore...

  • Adam's face:

beginning: "ok. we can do this. she cant act. but maybe the singing will help."

2:32 to the end: "the pitch is RIGHT THERE. listen!"

ending:" oo a little rough.. ok a lot of rough. fine, i'll kiss your hand."

  • her voice is to .. "thin".. she hasn´t enough power to sing it and she doesn´t really get the high notes...

  • ROGERRRRRRRRRRR

  • I've always wanted to play Audrey, but I know my voice is no match for this song.

I would probably sing it quietly like Mandy XD

It's a song meant for a voice with power though, unfortunately for me T-T

  • This is kinda self-indulgent. They're performing like they just want to hear themselves sing. And soo white-washed compared to the original. No impact at all.

  • Mandy Moore sort of has the same vulnerability as Audrey. I think she did great.

  • i am not a fan of Adam Pascal but he was pretty good in this. Mandy Moore....not so much

  • please note at 1:32 how how *thrilled* he looks to be singing with mandy moore.......she sucked...

  • @MissTristaAnne Ha ha I just wen't to 1:32 that's hilarious

  • her voice is pretty, but the song is way to big for her voice

  • @drewsmagicsoaps that was my thought exactly. And Mandy really doesn't have the voice for this.

  • Adam = perfect! Mandy = lol

  • Bagurk! Adam Pascal's outfit is the silliest arrangement of fabric I have EVER seen. And that precious pop princess just ain't got the pipes. Who's grand idea was this?

  • Comment removed

  • I love Ariana and Frankie grandes version :)

  • he isnt dorky enough to be seymour.

  • every time i hear adam sing i fall more and more in love with him :) he has the most gorgeous voice ever....couldn't you just listen to him all day?

  • I've commented on this before, but got to again.. ADAM is sooo adorable here.. Mandy just doesn't have a strong enough voice for Broadway (IMO). But I would KILL several times over to have this man sing to me and kiss my hand!!

  • She does horribly BOO!!!!! SHES MUFF GARBAGE!!!!!

  • I feel like he's holding back so as not to blow her out of the water. That was v ery kind of him.....

  • Thumbs up if you prefer Ellen Greene and Rick Moranis.

  • YES, Yes, and yes.

  • mandy is an awesome singer, just not here. not her style =]

  • No. Just no.

  • Wow she sucked.

  • Ooh, Mandy Moore. Just... no. Adam was great though. :D

  • weird choice. mandy killed it. adam= amazing of course

  • Mandy Moore.... Interesting...... I wanted adam to curb stomp her.. I think he wanted to.

  • Adam = brilliant.

  • Mandy sounds quite weak. How could they let her perform this song?!

Adam will always be brilliant. <3

But, the two of them seeing this song seems like a strange decision.

  • Oh. My.GOD!!! I feel like I'm going to melt because of Adams voice!!!

  • Sweet girl, but this song is too big for her. Sorry. Jessica Simpson would have been a better choice (when she could actually sing).

  • Mandy, sweetie, face it...

    you suck.

  • ...Strange choices for this song...I mean they did it well, just...wtf haha

  • Adam Pascal has a great voice and one that lends well to the song...but its kinda hard to invision him as a nerd....and Mandy is well...decent.

  • Mandy isn't TERRIBLE, she is alright. She has a different type of voice. This is broadway, not the pop that she is used to. She isn't confident enough for this song. She is holding back.

  • @GonnaBeOnBroadway Yeah. She needs to go nuts and let out that inner lost but found woman. Lol. I suppose thats a bad way to put it but i know what you mean

  • she sounds terrible... sweet girl but can not sing a song like this. Adam is brilliant.

  • As a singer, Adam rocked it. As Seymour, he's just too cool...

  • Adam, in my opinion, was the only good one in this clip. Mandy just didn't pull it off.

  • Mandy Moore sounded awful!

  • ...It sounds like the Mic is quiet to me....for Mandy anyway,

  • This is a song that needs a distinct, strong, loud female voice. Nothing against Mandy at all but her voice was not meant for this song

  • I agree. I actually really like Mandy, but this song is not right for her. Slightly out of her range.

  • I was disapointed by Mandy's singing.And usually im a fan.

  • @dolphingal1979 she couldn't keep up with Adam!

  • Mandy seems like a nice girl but she is no Ellen Greene!

  • She's so meek, just plain can't compete in power at all. Too bad.

  • This is mildly disappointing to me. I think Mandy Moore is talented, and I thought she was more talented than this. I think maybe she was sick or something, because she sounded really weird...and I know you guys say she's not auto tuned, etc, etc. But it still sounded like she was holding back. I would never hold back if I got to sing with Adam Pascal. I would sing my little heart out.

  • Its disappointing...because she's better than this.

Its almost like she was holding back!

  • Adam Pascal singing this song with Mandy Moore is like Meryl Streep starring in a movie with Hillary Duff. He was amazing and she is mediocre at best.

  • @mikes1sn That was a PERFECT analogy.

  • Sadly, her voice just isn't powerful enough.

  • I love this duo and their performance BUT the only thing I can say is off is that Mandy's voice doesn't sound powerful. She's supposed to really BELT OUT some of those lines and she doesn't here.

  • Thats her real voice. Not auto tuned.

  • Adam Pascal makes my tummy feel funny.... :-P

  • I can hear her voice auto tuned....

    i'm disappointed...

  • this is amazing. yes mandy really doesnt fit but you cant knock her, i would kill to be singing with adam pascal .

  • omg..they're both so wonderful....

she really sings well, she shouldn't be kicked off from the stage cos she's so damn talented...
