can you even imagine listening this song on the fina day of your life? like all the pain and misery one goes through along with the happy momentes are about to end....the end....of existence ...joy and suffering alike
At 1:53 is probably my favorite part of the song. It makes me imagine that I'm looking down a tunnel and seeing every major event that happened throughout childhood.
This is the first time that I'v realised that astral observatory is a relative tune of the giants theme (or oath to order) in the same was as sariahs song and the song of healing.
The beauty in Majora's Mask is in its rich story and breathing, human world begging for sympathy. The story carries dark, deeper meanings than it does at its surface. Try google searching "The Stone Tower: Why Termina Was Doomed" and read the theory. Amazing stuff, and completely plausible within the bounds of the game.
I hope for remake of MM or another LoZ in its styling someday, 3DS, WiiU or otherwise.
This was always my favorite zelda song, ever since i was about 5 to 6 years old and would watch my brother play, and when i played the game myself it brought back a lot of memories. What you have done with this song is absolutely fantastic.

MM was more bent on total destruction to humanity than gaining power and turning the world in it's own image like Ganon. I used to have an N64 but it broke awhile back, so i beat this game on an emulator. I saved up 100 bucks and could choose from Black Ops Hardened Edition or N64, With Expansion pack and Majora's Mask. Which did I pick? Nintendo 64! :P And i had enough money for McDonalds after. :D
Excluding the CDI games of course, is it possible to name a Zelda game that didn't excel in every single aspect? Music, visuals, controls, gameplay, story...I dare anybody to name a single Zelda game that wasn't perfect
I agree that MM was amazing. I consider MM and OoT equals, and they are some of the only games as old as they are that I would consider replaying, even in 2011. I listen to some of the music sometimes, like when I write fiction, or even poetry. These songs amplify my fantasy-oriented imagination.
i felt my heart lurch. gorgeous...this piece doesn't get enough credit... I don't think people really stop an listen to this piece long enough to be moved by it... it actually makes me very sad listening to it... it's so nostalgic

Yeah, i gotta saw. I played this on the N64 and i hated it. My brother sn I wore out the N64 controller by playing mairo party. When I got the collectors edition for the Game Cube and i could actually move, i fell in love. i beat this game 100% every price of heart, every mask, every upgrade. Nowadays, you get these games where all you do is shoot, there's no story line to Cod or Halo etc. You kill. But in the Zelda games, you do so much more, the story and character really get to you. You feel like a hero at the end. Zelda beats any other games
@Kracker5000 I don't know about that, I still feel like a true Zelda fan after hating on the cdi games... although rather than hate on them I guess I'd rather forget they ever existed
Well I admit the cdi games were pretty bad for gameplay, but the cut scenes and stuff from Faces of evil for example were pretty good. I guess every Zelda game has its ups and downs.
@Kracker5000 In 1989, Nintendo signed a deal with Sony to begin development of a CD-ROM-based system known as the "Nintendo PlayStation" or the SNES CD to be an add-on to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System that would allow for FMV and larger games. However, Nintendo broke the agreement and instead signed with Philips to make the add-on, which caused Sony to spin off their add-on into its own console called the PlayStation.
@Kracker5000 Witnessing the poor reception of the Sega Mega-CD, Nintendo scrapped the idea of making an add-on entirely. As part of dissolving the agreement with Philips, Nintendo gave them the license to use five of their characters, including Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon, for games on Philips's console called the CD-i, after the partnership's dissolution.
I understand what you're saying, there are bad zelda games but I have to say that the CD-i was horrible because of Phillips.
@Mrguy891 I belive thats one of the few spin offs along with tetra trackers, which as far as I know wernt emensly popular, it's not an actual Zelda game as such, even though Mario kart/party etc have Mario in their name, they are still not as respected as where it all started.
I nearly had a heart attack listening to this version the other day. I do not have the vocabulary to describe the position of this song, the old man, and the astral observatory in majora's mask and how it easily sways my heart. Definitely having this at my wedding and having the song of healing at my funeral... how enchanting.
@curtithird If people could remake it for Wii or an new Nintendo console, the Nintendo team could make people see the magnificance of this game and open it up for the children born after Wii came out and the rest of the world.
@curtithird You bring up such a good point! Video games are underrated by the public for their story and beauty, just because they're labeled 'video games'.
@H00le0 Yes, I'm trying to change the industry to do exactly what you describe here. I'm going to college for computer science and want to utilize the power of video games to express the imagination, not just offer entertainment fun. I have more goals than that, but that's a huge one. There are some great games that have achieved what I want to set forth as a standard (FF VII, FF VIII, FF IX, FF X, Zelda: MM, Zelda: Oot, Zelda :WW, Zelda, TP, TES III: Morrowind, TES IV: Oblivion)... etc.
Someday I hope for a sequal like MM, for the first time I saw them as real characters that I wanted to help and not as polygons that would interupt the gameplay
Wow! I only just noticed how MANY people believed in the end of the world in 2000 which was when this game was released. you guys see any connection there too?
Man, do I love the music from this game. MM is my favorite because it was so emotional and character driven. Sad and happy and tragic and hopeful all at once. It's beautiful. The music especially, from the observatory to the stone tower temple... People really don't give it enough credit.

Final fantasy is the same thing every game. Just with different graphics, characters, and story line. They never introduce anything new to the franchise except for FF13's battle system but too bad that game sucks. FF is over rated in my opinion
A trumblewumblehumble's comment, that is so true! when i played it, and compared most of my other games like that, none made it more so than this one! i love this version of the song, mostly because it sounds so soft, but i love this one and the original.
@mutinyinheav3n Quite the opposite is the case. I watched very many movies and played very many games, and i have something for apokalyptic and postapokalyptic setting. if you have any recommendation, tell me. I mean, well, lars von triers latset movie came close to it, but it was quite another approach than MM. In MM it was always like 'the dream is going to end soon', and the cheerful atmosphere was always on the verge of falling.
I was pretty disappointed after beating the game that I never had to go to the observatory later in the game just because I wanted to hear this track more, lol.
It amazes me how a game could capture the truly haunting concept of the world impending demise, and still create a song so sweet and tranquil that does not contradict the overall theme of the game. this is one of my favorite video game songs, not to mention one of the most beautiful. Thanks for uploading.
@ichigo275 The game had so many dark meanings and empowering emotions that truly told one of the greatest tales in my game playing experience, that trying to explain it all would take at least 3 other comments to do so. Detail was actually taken in the game, and if you looked into each character's lives (which is one of the more indepth things to get into) you truly feel sorry for most of them. Share their pain, joy, etc. But here I go getting into it again.
I dunno... I think the original version had a unique... eerieness to it. This is still an awesome remake, but it just doesn't capture the mood as well as the original...
It does to me too. Like since New year's is renewing, the song makes me feel like something very deep in my body, soul, heart, and mind is being renewed with the tranquility that is this song.
I have to agree in terms of some ocarina songs and whatnot, but overall I prefer all the music in Majora's Mask. I prefer pretty much everything in Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time.
Maybey but its just a sequel to oot yeah and its just another bounded storyline its epic theres drama and more in it better than oot But oot is more original in the real ZELDA way

mutinyinheav3n 8 months ago
@mutinyinheav3n Quite the opposite is the case. I watched very many movies and played very many games, and i have something for apokalyptic and postapokalyptic setting. if you have any recommendation, tell me. I mean, well, lars von triers latset movie came close to it, but it was quite another approach than MM. In MM it was always like 'the dream is going to end soon', and the cheerful atmosphere was always on the verge of falling.

@trumblewumblehumble That's how it always made me feel to. The atmosphere of this game is incredible.

There's always hope, and this "sweet and tranquil" song gives you hope. :) It's so beautiful! T_T

Well spoken! This is truly a masterpiece.

@ichigo275 very nicely said!

@ichigo275 Wow, I honestly couldn't have said it any better.

I dunno... I think the original version had a unique... eerieness to it. This is still an awesome remake, but it just doesn't capture the mood as well as the original...
EvilMonkey012 2 years ago
The mask totally kills the mood... @_@
GameMaster2k5 2 years ago 2
Haha! I don't know about that! The music is so happy, and the mask moving left and right looks funny, so it's happy, too!

majoras mask is the best zelda game EVER!
and have the best songs of zelda series

Somehow this reminds me of new years eve...
Quietschquatsch 3 years ago 2
It does to me too. Like since New year's is renewing, the song makes me feel like something very deep in my body, soul, heart, and mind is being renewed with the tranquility that is this song.
Hyperboy2164 2 years ago 21
It also reminds me of very old cartoons from the 30s

man, I love all the tracks.... but this one is special in some way............ very well done.

My favorite Zelda game of all time.
It was harder than OOT.
It had a deeper, darker storyline.
It's soundtrack expanded on OOT soundtrack.
carefulwiththat 3 years ago 42
Yes, you just said everything that I love about Majora's Mask. It's way better than OoT.
Aska49 3 years ago 22
not in all the music thats for sure, this and the song of healing are the best of majorask, but OOT is much better in music and themes.
sotelomuniz 3 years ago
I have to agree in terms of some ocarina songs and whatnot, but overall I prefer all the music in Majora's Mask. I prefer pretty much everything in Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time.
I'm strange compared to the majority of people.
Aska49 3 years ago 7
yes indeed, youre wierd XD
i think that koji kondo was more inspired in the OOT, but majoras "soundtrack" is really good
eliasfilpo 3 years ago 3
Yea, I'm not denying that Ocarina of Time was an amazing achievement and set alot of standards.
I just think Majora's Mask improved upon them even more but noone gave a crap because they were too amazed over OoT.
Aska49 3 years ago 21
lol yes
sotelomuniz 3 years ago
Exactly! It's the same with the music, too.
One thing great about MM's music though is that it really fits in the theme and mood of the area better.
Goomba4001 3 years ago 2
I actually prefer majora's mask songs than OoT aswell
MartintheGamingGuy 3 years ago 3
@Aska49 Majoras´s Mask is the best Zelda ever, nothing can compare with it not OoT not TLP nothing
CloudStrifeZX 2 years ago
Maybey but its just a sequel to oot yeah and its just another bounded storyline its epic theres drama and more in it better than oot But oot is more original in the real ZELDA way

@Aska49 I like the gameplay of OoT better but the music and story is won by MM. :D
Ahhhhhh - Bliss~♪

@Aska49 in fact, you're not strange. I also prefer Majora's Mask over Ocarina. I love both games, they are simply(?) amazing, but I love more MM

@Aska49 +1. such a crazy good game. I can't remember if any other game has hit me the same emotionally.

@Aska49 nah I liked majoras mask more than ocarina too for some reason. The town feels more alive than the other game and there are more sidequests.
