I'm not sure the exact model of the truck and included safety features, but most are equipped with an ABS system, so in order to lock all the wheels you would use the emergency brake- the emergency brake doesn't turn on brake lights- every pickup truck drag racer here in Michigan will tell you you dont use the normal brakes untill your not 'on the throttle' so yes the tires are locked up and it is using the regular motor to get the jet going.

@2009dudeman no dude you are wrong. the normal brakes lock up all the wheels, he's rolling foward. study the video a little closer. he's rolling foward, then stops using his brakes, the jet doesnt have the power to push the truck fowards with the brakes engaged, they have the jet on full blast when they launch, but stay stationary. even the smaller cars do. trains have emergency brakes, trucks just have normal everyday use brakes. a train uses its brake and wrecks its wheels, a truck does not

First have you not studied the trucks that they put these things on. only the front 2 wheels have 'running' brakes. the third axle brake is only used in tow mode (only in the new ones with computer towing systems). and when they install the jets they modify the rear end to support it. when they do that they remove the regular brake system for an electric one, so you dont have to use power from the truck engine(used to power turbine startup and the fuel pumps) in order to get hydraulic brakes.
