  • are you a trout?

  • @ElxZilcho Trout? No. Red Salmon, yes.

  • Love the note at 2:01. Very smooth.

  • I come here looking for fry SCREAMS, and this is what I get?

  • @TheFonyProductions Yes, this is what you get, actual vocal fry, not screaming into a mic.

  • @JRichardYoung Honestly they are very similar, if you listen to the last note and compare it to someone using vocal fry to "scream" which by the way I think is an inappropriate term, because you don't have to be loud, you should see some similarities.

  • Can you post the lyrics? I would like to see what you're singing about in German. Just post the German lyrics or the name of the song, please. Thank you!

  • @JRichardYoung The English: For the one I love most he lay sleeping by me ... under the same tree in the cool night .... As his arm lay lightly around my chest .... I was at peace, we joined .... I was truly happy ....

  • ok when does the stupid frying start?

  • @tyjed The stupid frying is mostly the last couple of notes. Most of the comments below explain the difference between what you were most likely looking for (idiots screaming) and what I am demonstrating here.

  • @tyjed 0:54, 1:25-2:15. That last is tone of his is definately frying.

  • I was trying to find videos of people screaming and I found this non emo looking character so I thought I'd take a peek. Also I'm pretty baked so this really just made me laugh cuz it's not at all what I wanted to see but it turned out to be pretty cool after all. Even though it was super random to me haha.

  • Wow that's cool. There are videos portraying vocal fry as sounding like the girl from the Grudge, but you sound wonderful now I get what it actually is.

  • good!

  • Hey, I like the fry screaming AND this. How's that for a combination?

  • Very impressive. Good use of fry. Not an easy thing to get right.

  • how the hell lol.

  • great voice pal! but your fry voice... :-(

    5stars anyway.

  • Vocal fry fucked my voice before, now i use it a different way, many singers use vocal fry (my way) to clear their throat of flem, others use it to scream, people like Matt Tuck and Matt Shadows have fucked up their voices from using it wrong, the way you do it will fuck up a voice, I can sing lower than you without the use of vocal fry, i use vocal fry to get high but if i used it like you, i'd be VERY low, i'm a tenor btw :P not a bass XD

  • Like Ravn000 said, Vocal Fry tends to hurt you're voice a lot less then say.. If you did death growls or harsh vocals. :o

  • I've never had a problem with false cord, but i seem to have had with vocal fry.

  • ummm look at matt shadows now. he can still sing and scream just as good as he used to. he is one of the best singers out there

  • I just read about his voice on wikipedia pages.

  • yeah and look at unholy confessions live at LBC. Screams better now than ever. He didnt fuck up his voice using vocal fry. what happened is that he had a loose vessel in his neck, and because of the harsh use of the voice, he made it worse. but his injury and surgery for his voice was not the cause of screaming. plus he didnt use vocal fry until AFTER he had the surgery. he states that in an interview, and he never uses vocal to sing, only the occasional sreaming.

  • yeah rest in peace REV.

  • Uhm sir Matt Shadows never fucked up his voice those were rumors.

  • lol

  • Some more comments deleted.

  • Acctually Fry is one of the singing techniques that hurt your vocal chords the LEAST :)

  • i also want to sing lower with vocal fry... but i cant ...

ich schaff den scheiss einfach nich xD ...

maybe there is an "tutorial" how i can make my vocal fry sound like yours ?? ...

  • How did that hurt your voice? I would have figured that it would have helped. I've been practicing on expanding my range a lot in both directions.

  • Wow, That's really good. I'm just starting to get into learning vocal fry, Does it really hurt yourself in the long run to do it? Also, It sounds a lot more throaty when doing it, as if you use less support, Is that true?

  • Some say it does. MY vocal teacher says it does. The Russians don't seem to think so, of course they'res is a tradition. What hurt my voice was being forced to sing Baritone and Bass in collage. I went in hoping to strengthen my countertenor...

  • @lex24boi psst. The word is "theirs." Not they'res. Sheesh!

  • what voice! :D

  • Can you teach me to do this?

    Like send a personal message?

I will love you forever if you did!

  • im a baritone/bass i can go to a low Bb and i begin to vocal fry at low B can u help me

  • What is it you need help with. No one really teaches vocal fry as most classical trainers are in the "vocal fry will hurt your voice" school... I don't think the russians think that way. Really, you just have to do it. The main thing is to listen very carefully to the pitch and try to match to an octave as unisons are harder to hear that low.

  • @doublethelowc Bb below what? Middle C, C below middle C?

  • @cgtrademark I believe his is talking about the Bb below the bass staff.

  • So I deleted some comments that didn't help the conversation.

  • wow amazing i just found out that i can't sing the double low C it is vocal fry thank you

can you go lower than that ?

  • Theoretically, yes, I can go lower than that. However there is a point to where it no longer sounds like singing and is more of a rattle or raspy clicking sound.

  • powerful but yet filled with natural vibrato..... very nice. how do you do that???

  • Which Part? The fry part just takes practice. The normal baritone/bass range takes more practice! HAha... I have been training since I was about 4, so practice for about 26 years, and you'll be better than you are now. Hope that helps!

  • hahahaha i always cant seem to fade out my vibrato, ending up killing the singing XD. anyways very good job

  • Low notes suxx.

  • I am going to leave your comment up, and just refer you to the other insightful comments above your own. Again, you obviously know nothing of vocal training.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, the Vocal Fry range theoretically extends down to 1hz. You can most likely sing that note, but it won't sound good. Try early in the morning. Both men and women have what they call a fry register, its just singing really, really low with no support what so ever.

  • The world record is 8 Hz..

  • if your not a bass then how did you sing the last note? i know i cant sing it, too low for me.

  • Just because someone is a tenor doesn't mean they can't hit low notes.

  • wrong, it started with exactly what this guy is doing especially in female choirs where a lower part was needed without a male voice.

  • For the idiots here... Vocal fry started out as a classical technique, just as the poster mentioned.

Just because it was adapted to create screams doesn't mean it's not used for anything else.

  • You obviously know nothing of classical vocal training.

  • Please enlighten me. Perhaps you have a better demonstration. I thought vocal fry was used to obtain pitches of very low frequency which are not available to singers in the modal register. Since I am a tenor, the above statement makes sense.
