  • this game is the myth of cthulhu¡¡¡

  • 7:57 the paintings look like they are from the movie "Dune".

  • I cannot open my eyes to listen what happened next now?

  • My eye is weak near the learning walkthrough and I must stop now learning

  • the tree!!!

  • Dagon and the Deep Ones also were talked about in Call Of Cthulu.

  • Wait!Requeascat in pace?Ain't that Italian like in assasins creed?Confusion...

  • @flamesdemon19 It's not Italian. It's Latin.

  • @POLE7645 ^0^ It seems I fail ^0^

  • I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this game even without the wonderful narration and enhanced soundtrack. Many thanks to the uploader, I will watch the entire game in childish amazement. I'm a french canadian and I can tell you your translations are right on the spot. They chosed delightful narrators/readers, so this is how french sounds at its very best folks. This is what we call international french BTW. It sounds void of any accent to us. I hope you liked the game too, even in fr

  • @POLE7645: I used to have this game for Mac, but I could never figure it out. I just got a free download of it like 2 days ago, and now I'm hooked again, and with your tutorials, I've gotten farther and am having more fun then ever before! BTW: Quick question:

-I've never really understood what the game is about anyways, do you know?

  • I feel sleepy. Can't watch the rest. thanks for it anyway.

  • You can certainly appreciate how this game influenced resident evil...

The paintings with the moon in the back remind me of Lovecraft's short story "The nameless city", although in that one the real city was underground.

  • Congratz! You killed Painting-Who-Stares-Through-Hallway

  • I don't see anything strage about the paintings....Middle eastern man, castle and men in desert at night...whats so strange about that?

  • All early Infogrames games are strongly influenced by Lovecraft and Cthulhu. Shadow of the comet, Alone in the Dark, Prisoner Of ICe (that one is quite explicit!)

  • i smell lovecraft, H.P lovecraft

  • man i like the game but i can't even past the 3rd floor because i don' know the damn controls

  • Jesus these old games, they were great but how did they expect anyone to finish one without a walkthrough, guess they weren't meant to be finished unless you called helpline somewhere in France.

  • Those paintings remind me of the show Night Gallery. lol

  • these paintings may have been made by a madman...but anyone who could paint something that could throw axes or shoot arrows deserves some type of award :P

  • 1:12

I feel you, I hate them too. irl and in games :D

  • Paintings reminds me two things.

    1. H.P. Lovecraft liked astronomy - as a kid he even wrote articles in newspaper about comets, planets, stars etc.

    2. Abdul Alhazred, mad Arab, wrote Necronomicon - the book of pure EVIL...

  • @ 1:55 it's the same looking corridor as in Resident Evil 1... Actually, a lot of rooms look like those in AITD1.

  • 1:45 - Mon dieu! Le bathtub monstré again!

  • Is it possible to use the Bow to shoot enemies and does it make finde damage???

  • is that mr bean?

  • Yes! How do you know?

  • haha, something about that slow, clumsy walk and those arms he keeps aloft in the air...

  • i dont like runscape but this game graphics remind me of it

  • Runescape was made 9 years after this game was made. Runescape has no excuse.

  • Well it actually got a good one. It's a browser game. And to it's credit, it's the first browser game I saw that used 3D rendering.

  • @POLE7645 Agree. I don't think people should care about graphics when playing a game. People should play a game because of how fun it is to play it. Of course good graphics are cool, but they shouldn't be taken as a parameter to play something.

  • '....and with strange eons, even death may die.'

    Gotta love the Lovecraft.

  • can you kill the indian picture with the rifle?

  • i hate cockroach's lol.

  • creepy paintings reminds me of a story i read about paintings that come to life

  • This man is very poor that he is in that house. XD

  • I like Spiders irl but those spiders are freaky man

  • I hate spiders too irl. amen to that, since even video crawlies give me the creeps.

  • System Shock II has the most disgusting spiders graphic- and soundwise, bah ^^

  • you know what? me too i hate spider! you can't kill them?

  • Edward Carnby from this game and the recent Alone in the Dark game for PS3 and Xbox360 are the same right? He really has come a long way LOL

  • I think this game is better than the one on Xbox 360 and Ps3 is not as interesting as this game. (And i played the recent one... I was somewhat dissapointed...

  • Strictly speaking, yes they are the same person, but Activision has taken a lot of liberties with the Alone in the Dark license which don't quite reflect the original design for Carnby (he is a simple private investigator in the original three games, nothing more, save that he has an odd tendency to unknowingly run into the supernatural).

  • don´t think so... I think one alone in the dark is not related to the next one, i think

  • same here dude i hate spiders

  • I guess that letter is foreshadowing or something. It tells you not to go where the books are... SO WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO IN THE LIBRARY!

  • i like the music in this game :D

  • this game is creepy with a capital C

  • the paintings look like freeman from Dune

  • I didn't know this game. It looks like Resident Evil... No wait, I mean Resident Evil looks like this

  • this is like one of the first games were u can throw ur inventory items on the floor

  • So im confused...

Do you get those little flasks from the first aid kits? And after you get the flask are the first aid kits useless or something?

  • Like ammo, health doesn't have any limits so you can consume alot of alcohol to keep alive. (without getting drunk?) Anyways, after you use the first aid kit, it'll only be cluttered in your inventory, so you HAVE to dispose of it.

  • you can figure out that man in the picture will throw axes but its impossible to figure out for the indian guy to shoot arrows because you can't see his picture.. only when you die and play it again you can figure out..

  • This game is amazingly ahead of its time. 1992! Video Game systems couldn't make these kind of games till 95 or later. This is quite an awesome game.

  • instead of using the bow you can just throw the arrow

  • one question...how the fuck do i run?

  • 2 questions, when you encounter the spiders in the forest room, can they follow you in all the house or something? and what was that door in the forest room were you encounter the arrows? thanks.

  • No, the spider stays in the forest room. The other door leads to the ballroom (visited later).

  • ok, thanks.

  • is there any difference damage-wise from what the first sword and second one can deal?

  • The first one will break after a few hits. The second one will not break. Otherwise, they're identical.

  • oh thanks

  • whenever that music starts playing,i know something is going to happen

  • Ohh yeah. XD Always.

  • it makes me scare ajaajaja

  • I loved this game for the lovecraft motif

  • My mum gets really irritated with me when there're spiders in the room 'cause I always make her kill 'em. XD

  • i hate spiders too

  • lol ur giving tips?

  • its for PC?!?!?

  • 0:33-0:35

    amazing laws of gravity.

  • gues newton laws dont work here!

  • yeah i hate spiders too

  • Creatures of the Night? What, you mean that song by KISS?

  • q ondas, alguien me puede decir como se corre?como hacer q el mono corra?ati el q subio esto te lo encargo

  • se pone dos veces como si fuera doble click del mouse en la tecla de caminar y comenzará a correr. :D

  • Bravo pour la traduction ^^

  • Are false books the ones with no writing and are used for candy storage?

  • Eh hem.... Fuck you :D

  • to who?

  • I fucking hate spam. IM LOOKING AT YOUR COMMENT RYTON >.>

  • on the soud configeration what do you configure the sound to,to make the sound please help becuase im sick and tired of playing a game with no sound??

  • Abdul al-Hazred, Deep ones, Dagon,...totally Call of the Cthulhu.

  • these are actually really good graphics for an old game like this, i'm impressed

  • yep 1992 really, 3D dosen´t exist on home consoles untill 1996 so this is really cool

  • What with all the reading and why in french?

  • He only has the french version of the game. Thats why he has to translate it.

  • ok Thx for the info =)

  • how i can put text in the gameplay???

  • Used DivXLand Media Subtitler and VirtualDub.

  • Those voice actors are great. :O

  • what are you getting it on with the clock or something in 3:12?

  • can u like throw books and stuff at enemies? lol

  • i love how he runs..

  • woe to me? Why, because i've heard of the necronomicon, the most well known fictional book ever?

How about woe to YOU for being scared of fish!

    oh-ho!

  • This game is (next to Bioforge) one of the true masterpeaces ever.

  • HAHA! The arrows are so funny!

  • Hm... Indeed he is a mad man.

Carnby: why would you say that?

isnt it obvious, look at the paintings.

    Carnby: omg get down!

    ahh what!?

    Carnby: nothing.

    ...

(seriously though this part of the game gave me the creeps. especially when I was killed by an axe throwing painting, and a arrow launching indian picture from hell)

  • I sometimes wish you didnt stop the enemies, like as you said that the picture would shoot axes at you, how does that work oO

  • If I didn't stopped it, it would have killed me in three shots. I MUST stop it if I want to continue forward.

  • Yea I know that xD. I mean something like a video about "weird" deaths, like a killing picture.

  • I have a feeling the picture 'throwing axes' would simply be axes flying out of the picture-- same with the indian shootin garrows. :o

  • I like those paintings they are so interesting to look at. lol all the reading stuff is weird and interesting. But I love the french voice over its so cool. Lol so you can just randomly put things on the floor if you run out of room? lmao thats cool

  • I actually read the "Necronomicon" by Abdul Al-Azred after playing this game. I was f*ckin terrified.

  • hmm yeah, although the music is good, it was more scary playing without it.

  • it that smart just put stuff on the floor around the house?

  • the picture @ 8:19 is where the source of the evil is.

  • Lol, I never noticed that.

  • That is not dead which can eternal lie.

    Good Lovecraft quote ^^

  • I'm not surprised that Resident Evil ripped off the picture hallway and the grandfather clock.

  • yeah, I can see Resident Evil 1 as a direct rip off from this, but they had their own flavors to it, made it modern not so much a mystery horror as just a flat out fright horror (I find it hard to get scared by non-realistic games) but resident evil I haven't even finished because it scares me so bad :\

  • 1:10...

    you been trapped!

    by Spiders!

I agree about what you said...

    Because I hate spiders too!

  • its interesting how the spiders dont follow you out the door

  • when I was a kid it took me AGES to guess I had to shoot the arrows to that fucking picture!

  • 'til now, I had no idea the Libary door was in the middle of the painting hallway. I aways thought it was the door that slammed shut when you first walked down the stairs. I also never saw that door because I jusr ran strait down the middle of the hall so the angle never changed. Thanks again for showing me an important part of the game like you did with the zombie that comes in if you step on the rug.

  • The library has two door. The one that slammed shut was one of them.

  • Would you be kind enough as to put up the guide for AITD 2 please? I miss tbat game!

  • Once AITD 3 is over, I'll probably do AITD 2.

  • you should do one fore alone in the dark 3

  • Once I'm done with this one, I WILL do AITD 3. Especially because there's not a single video of it on Youtube.

  • I wonder why the footstep sound effects sounds a bit better than the footstep sound effects in most of the RE games.

  • Maybe that's because the characters runs much slower than the Resident Evil characters, allowing longer sound clips for footsteps.

And in Resident Evil, if I remember well, there was no squeaking wooden floor.

  • Thats IS some very interesting and awesome reading!!

  • Awesome play! The music on my mac is different than this one. Will you be doing Alone In The Dark 2? That one is the hardest one I've played and I can never beat it

  • I didn't beat it yet. I'm stuck on the deck. But if I ever beat it, it is sure that I'll record it.

Maybe you got the disk version. The disk version got MIDI music, while the CD version got red book Audio CD music.

Maybe you can tell me where you're stuck in Alone in the Dark 2. If you're not too far, I can help you.

  • Mine was CD and it uses MIDI. I'm stuck in Alone in the Dark 2 after the Grace part. I actually got lost in that part playing as Carnby.

  • Great, because I'm stuck with Grace. I always get caught on the Deck. Maybe you can give me some tips.

  • To be honest, it I passed it by luck :P. And I haven't played it for a long time because Alone in the Dark 2 is so hard!

And you don't have to strain yourself with Alone in the Dark 2 if it's too frustrating.

  • Alone in the Dark 2 is by far the hardest of the AITD trilogy. Not because of its 'puzzles' but because of its 'action.' I recently decided to replay the AITD trilogy (I was five or six years old at the time I first played it), and I got stuck during the chapter where you play Grace, the little girl. It's a sneaking mission at that point and it gets very difficult.

  • That was one of the chapter that I have a hard time getting through until I made it then I got lost afterwards

  • I loved how you made time to stop and make love to the grandfather clock!

  • Yeah. I forgot I had to push it on the side. I used the "Open/Search" command instead.

  • i used to do that all the time in AitD. i used to dance too.

  • ..I think alot of people go down because they need some 'objects on the ground floor'...LOL
