my daughter and I both agree that we prefer Elaine Page's version as she is IN character. Poor Grizabella! We cried when she was chosen by Old Deuteronomy to be reborn. It is a sad, dramatic, poignant song and shouldn't be sung frivolously. Too many singers try to sing this while smiling, or shriek it. painful.

i think a version being performed on stage will generally have more emotion(or maybe drama) than one being performed in a recording studio. I think Paige is acting just as much as she's singing.

There isnt much that can top a real show, not just emotions but the fact that everything happens right there, right now and no two show is the same. While the music is fantastic in the video there is nothing off the magic off sitting in the best seat in the theathre. Johan
