hand to hand combat is most certainly important during war. You could be in a situation where you have no guns or anything but you're body which is a weapon too. I think Krav Maga should be taught like in the Israeli military.
MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) teaches the key points of Krav Maga but also goes into other martial arts styles and incorporates wrestling and boxing as well. It's insanely effective from what I've read. I'm signing up in less than a month for the Corps.
Wrestling can definitely be useful in hand-to-hand combat, since many of its moves seen in high school/college/Olympics can be easily adjusted in an instant from "nice" ones to ones that can dislocate shoulders, snap knee and other joints or much more serious injuries. And if combined with striking skills, watch out. And wrestling also is a great way to stay in shape, muscle and cardio-wise for people with no access to a gym or playing field & only a small section of floor or ground is needed.
as a current wrestler in high school i cant agree more if you did any takedown in wrestling on hard surface and really put some force into it you could easily knock a guy out
Yah I wrestle in my school and practice multiple martial arts. It's definately easy to adjust in order to completely annihilate someone. Like winding up on your power half to elbow them in the head and then grind it into the asphalt.
i dont believe the wrestling training is meant for in combat, more likely back home with all the anti-war protestors someone has to put the liberals into submission
