  • Duran is definitely not at his best in this fight. Even though, he still controls it with ease.Sounds like Dr. Ferdie Pacheco doing the commentating.

  • @LOVEMPIRE666 Your talking utter utter rubbish! Just cos the pacman is so current flavour and is bloody good, hes no Roberto Duran!

  • Great body puncher! This is the secret of all latino fighters, notably Julio Caeser Chavez.

  • A guy I know sparred with Duran when he was way past his prime. He said even though he was fat and old, Roberto knew exactly what he was going to do before he even tried to do it, and he countered him non stop. It was amazing. And he said when he was younger Duran was an absolute force of nature. He was unbelievable. Definitely an all time great.

  • @bigdatut Yeh, top 5 for me..

  • "Susuki is on queer st. now"

  • durans the greatest lightweight of all time.

  • Duran would beat the shit out of Mayweather and Pacman in the same night. That's how tough he was.

  • Ooo that right hand really hurt he hurt em with that right hand hahaha

  • Floyd would never have the class and skills of Duran. It's an insult to even put these two fighters in the same category.

  • one of the most ever Total fights 119

    Wins 103

    Wins by KO 70

    Losses 16

  • LOL! Duran was the greatest 135 lb of all time. He would have Kod Mayweather if anything.

  • ....... feel bad for u if u make a bet like that that's why Duran had more than 100 fights and your boy has how many ?? less than 40

  • yeah, but floyd is undefeated!

what about duran, how many defeats does he have?

  • by your "logic" gayweather > sugar ray robinson cuz even sugar had 19 losses in his 200 bouts.

    gtfo with that shit.

anyone can compile an unbeaten record dodging top comp, doesn't mean shit.

at 1 point duran was 73-1 & many of his losses came after he passed his prime & didn't know when to stop.

he would have put a beating on that moron gayweather & shut up his big mouth.

duran is the best LW of all time with an 87% win record & voted # 5 best boxer of last 80 years by ring.

  • haha, you must be mayweather fan from that comment, duran would take him

  • even tho i think chavez is a good boxer.Duran would have messed him up real good.

  • soy mexicano y fan del gran campeon pero te puedo decir que chavez si hubiera peleado con duran hubiera perdido y por ko!!!

  • You will never see another fighter fight for 32 years like Duran. He didn't fight Leonard until he was already 12 years into his career.

  • Duran was big 4 a lightweight and probably would of beaten Hearns at that weight' maybe even would of knocked him out' but at 154 lbs' Tommy was just to big and fast 4 him.

  • yea hes a big 6 foot 1...kinda skinny if anything his weight class should be middle weight not welter but hey he could make the weight why not fight? Tommy was a still is a great fighter...he faught in may of this year!

  • people forget that the Duran of 135 was the real deal! if he had never moved up in weight? he'd of ruled his division for a tremendously long time. On the other hand I'm incredibly happy he moved up because it further cemented his greatness. To the non-discerning viewer & so called analyst, if he had never moved up to beat the likes of Leonard, Palomino, Barkley, Cuevas & Moore? he'd of been just another good little man who was never really challenged? But not Roberto!

  • Duran lost almost 100 lbs. just prior to the Hearns fight. Tommy never lost a fight at 154, it was his best weight. Duran had just fought Hagler at 160, then ballooned up and then dropped to 154 for a big payday with Hearns. Bad timing, Duran would've give Tommy hell at 147. Plus Roberto went 15 with Hagler, beat a prime Ray Leonard and beat Barkley, Tommy was great but can't say any of that.

  • yes the Duran that fought Leonard in 80' at the age of 29 would of broke down Hearns IMO!

  • Totally agree, and I'll go even farther and say the Duran Barkley fought would've done the same.

  • yeah but it's only through the passage of time that Duran was able to fight Barkley; til he got to 160. The point I was making with Hearns was: he was also a welter at that certain point & time in which Duran ventured into that division to fight Leonard. Roberto had no chance vs Tommy beyond 147, too much of a disadvantage with height & reach. But I do agree the Duran of 29 @ 147 was a formidable challenge to even the greatest welters of history.

  • Mostly agree, but Tommy couldn't have beten Roberto on the night he beat Barkley, for the first time in years Duran looked like Duran. He even stated that he wanted to fight either Leonard or Hearns after that. Barkley was basically the same size as Tommy, the difference is Tommy couldn't have taken the shots Iran did from Duran.

  • good point but Tommy had all the advantages beyond 147; from age to larger wing-span & frame to carry the extra weight. But your right his feat at age 37 was nothing short of incredible!

  • yea its funny how Hearns never beat Leonard or Barkley, actually Barkley destroyed him the 1st fight and won the decision in the 2nd. A rematch btwn duran and hearns would have been good but I think he made up for it against Barkley

  • watch?v=5m_AhU7YBpY

Yoan Pablo Hernandez (Kuba) vs Wayne Braithwaite (USA)

  • nice hand job

  • damn that was a sweet watch. 5/5

  • that Duran is nasty (good) but wen hearns got hold of him he was broken.

  • To borrow a phrase from Ali, Hearns was a bad bad man.

  • hahaha

  • Hearns goto him in 12yrs, 40 fights, and 20 lbs. ltr. This Duran would have destroyed the weak chin of Hearns. Duran and Hearns should have fought 80-81 at welterweight. When Duran was below his peak and Hearns was reaching his at a lower weight. It would have been a different story.

  • agree but that is how boxers start destroying legends,

  • That would be in the 1970's.

  • Correct. Add that to your book!

  • It was Lee Leonard, who hosted other programs over the years

  • And Lee Leonard was a good friend of mine and my senior head couldn't pull his name together. Last I knew he had a cable show in New Jersey that was very popular. Thanks John.

  • Growing up in the New York City area, we were lucky to have Bill Mazer. He did a daily Sunday show called Sports Extra which appeared on WNEW Channel 5, now a Fox owned station. If I am not wrong, it was one of the first late Sunday night sports show at the time.

  • Yeah, 11 o'clock. Bill and Lee forget his last name. Best wrap up of the week. Bill is still hanging in.

  • bill mazer did a great call, really good no bullshit just calling it.

  • Bill's a great guy. Did football with him for years. And even a bowling series. Good guy and still working.

  • roberto duran the greatest of anytime.

  • Amen!

  • great lightweight-Yes...........other weights.........20th all time at welterweight(according 2 the Ring Mag.)

not great after lightweight....just Good =-)

  • Great info!

  • Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran! One of the greatest of that time!

  • A truly great fighter. A man for the Ages. Lou
