  • In the book The Night They Raided Minskys' the author noted that whenever a burlesque show was raided by the vice cops in the 20s, during the chaos a singer would come on stage and sing a song about Mother to try to calm things down. Maybe this one was one of those songs. Anyway it's good. Hurray for Belle.

  • Quando havia glamour no mundo musical... Maravilhoso !!

    Paula Constança(Brasil).

  • this song makes emotional. i love belle baker's voice great musical arrangement great post thanks for post. great song********ROGHARM

  • Anita Marzano of CAPPY'S RESTAURANT in East Rockaway taught me this song- and many like it. I played the organ there in the 1950's. Anita would stand there and sing those "tearjerker" sons to me 'till i learned them... and there were many. Like- "She's Lying Dead in the Baggage Coach Ahead".

  • Bob, I hope I remember this one for next Mother's Day to send to my e-mail friends. It is so beautiful.

    Lucia

  • I was thinking about re-doing this one.

  • She has a tear in her vice her like Al Jolson had - nicely done - a change of pace for a "tourch singer".............

  • I am going to redo this one and post again but for Mothers day.

  • Exquisite rendition in Baker's affectionate and involved style. Thank you.

  • Ah, this is very sentimental...sniff, sniff. thx for posting

  • Have you listened to MY KID by her on my page? It is another song similiar to this. She was the best female 20's singer there was in my opinion.
