@ThatsABiggon I'm not that familiar with the V-Machine, but as long as you can load the full version of the Kontakt 4 application, then yes the Kawai will work. You can try the free Kontakt player, but it runs in demo mode for 3rd party libraries (goes silent after 30 minutes I believe). Let me know what you find out!
One of the best sounding samples I've ever heard. Superb job! I've got a Kawai MP10 on order, so I'd be curious to see how this sounds compared to Kawai's very own sampling of the Kawai EX. Great job guys!
@ZacharyForbesMusic Thanks for the compliment! And please let me know your thoughts in comparing the MP10. I'd really like to know what you think. Thanks!
no offense, but that stand is REALLY horrible!! Wobbles WAY too much then it should, which is rarely. you should get a better stand thats better structured.
Hi, i have listened to your video a number of times and do love the sounds you produce here of the kawai ex grand. I would be obliged if you could tell me if it is possible to incorporate your sample int my kawai ca111? If so what would i require. I have to admit here that i am an electronic numpty, sorry !
@marg32 Since this Kawai sample library requires Kontakt software, you'll need to hook your CA 111 to a computer running the software. If you get our library, I'd be curious to how its sound compares in your opinion to your CA 111. Let me know your findings!
I hear the demo MP3 on the website, it sound so harsh at the lower ranges, I believe you would need to use Telefunken mic instead, this has the ability to capture the perfect sounds from voices and instruments as I heard it very clearly.

I am Todd Scott, a Registered Piano Technician, Steinway and Sons technician trained. I have started getting into piano sampling about 2 years ago. I have made several new discoveries that I would like to share with you such as what areas of the piano need exactly how many velocity layers and have improved tuning beyond our current technology. I have some of the highest scores on my 3 exams in the continent. Contact me at 724-699-1144 or covenantpiano@gmail.com
Something I would like to find out. I want to know what the disadvantages if I use the EXS24 mapped file. Also it use up quite a lot ram in full mode. Is there different mapped file for each mic position?
@Killua40 Hey thanks! There are 5 dynamic layers that are velocity-switched, but they've been carefully voiced so as to avoid the common problem of obvious switches from one layer to the next. There are 3 release samples per velocity. Staccato, medium, and long release samples are timed so as to make the key release resonance much more accurate--you hear a different release sample depending on how long you hold the key down. The Kawai EX update has been released, so check out the website :)
Will it sound just as good on a midi controller such as an M-audio 88 keystation?
Or would a digital piano like the Yamaha P85 sound better using it's own Yamaha piano samples?
I mean, I can't get it moneywise: I would pay 300 euros in the first situation (incl Kawai Ex and the M-audio) and 685 euro with the Yamaha (and not the Kawai Ex incl.)
Your samples sound better, so I would choose option 1.
Then again you can't compare the keys of the Keystation and P85 at all. The P85 has a graded hammer action keyboard, the keystation is half-weighted. Apples and Oranges.
A "good" midi keyboard with hammer action will be 400 euros at least...probably more, though, I only know one around ~400 that I actually like.
Hey thanks for the compliments! The release feature just detects a MIDI note-off signal. The multiple releases in our Kawai EX Grand are based on time, not release velocity. However, you HAVE given me an idea for future pianos...release velocity-controlled releases! But the releases in our pianos are triggered when the note-off MIDI signal comes through. They're not responding to MIDI release velocity which is a separate MIDI controller number.
I personally dont believe that release velocity does contribute much to the sound of a piano.
If a key is released fast, the hammer and damper will fall back according to the physical law of fall. If it is released faster, it will not accelerate.
Thanks to all of you! I'd be curious as to what 7notemode could do with this library. Maybe others will post their own videos of their music with the Kawai EX grand library! :)
Dude buy a better stand lol

Hi, that is awsone, I see that a Kawai EX pro has lauched from Acoustic Sampls website. Btw, what does the 5 layers and 15 release layers means?
How much level of sampling is it? 5 level? or 15?

I believe, you would need the full version of kontakt to play the library. So the bill gets higher..

I think that is really great sound!
I have a question about the multiple release layers: How does these work technically?
There is a problem: Most Pianos and stage-pianos (Kawai models included) dont send the MIDI noteoff velocity.
Will this affect the usability of release layers?

Thanks! Thats nice to know.
I personally dont believe that release velocity does contribute much to the sound of a piano.
If a key is released fast, the hammer and damper will fall back according to the physical law of fall. If it is released faster, it will not accelerate.
Situations with very slow releases are rare.

So far I found, the Roland RD700GX is the only piano keyboard that sends release velocity. Roland Homepianos send a dummy value 64 or zero.
Yamaha,Kawai and Fatar send Noteon 0 always.
The keyboards that send it are mostly synth keyboards.
I was not able to actually test this, I studied the manuals

Beautiful. I couldn't be anymore proud of this sampling of yours. ^^
Seriously, Lance, we need to go piano shopping. I have about 60 sq feet I need filled. :D
