I miss this so much! The last time I went there was in Sep 2008. I went on the Klingon Encounter so many times! I bought some dvd's as well. It almost makes me cry watching this because, I enjoyed going there. RIP, Star Trek: The Experience. 1998-2008
@typhhons I know the feeling. When I heard it was closing. I coaxed a friend to go out there with me before it closed. I have never planned a trip faster. LOL
Is it only me, or does it seem like every time I go on theme rides like this, the ride itself is good but the backstories are really stupid!
When my sister and I went on the Klingon Encounter, after Riker mentioned that one of us was Picard's relative, a Mexican guy said "Sure as shit ain't me, holmes!" We laughed so hard that even the cast members broke out of character a little bit!
@Amar7605 I'm wondering why they chose the Klingons, who are the Federation's allies, instead of, say, the Romulans. Not only would such a plan make sense for them, it would have been far more awesome having a titanic Warbird follow you back to Las Vegas than a dinky little Bird-of-Prey.
@GoGojiraGo It's probably because many more people are aware that the Klingons were enemies rather than Romulans. They have to design the ride so that non-Trek fans can enjoy it.
I love Star Trek to death, but if they kidnapped Picard's ancestors, he would cease to exist in the prime timeline, and if he ceased to exist, the Klingons would never need to go back in time to erase his existence, but if they didn't need to go back in time to erase his existence, he'd still exist, etc etc. Time paradox ftl.
Not to mention if Picard never existed, how would anyone ever know he was gone?
The camera is pretty shaky... and it seems that the person who filmed this, didn't want to be seen filming it... is it true that you arent' allowed to film the experience?
I really want to go there! But my family aren't trekkies and theirs no obvious reason why they would want to go to Vegas, and its currently closed. I guess I have to hope that there's still a version of this when I'm older, richer and independent.
it should be reopened by May of 2010 bub! Apparently the mayor got flooded with a ton of angry star trek fans about it's closure & made a deal to get it open again lol
@destinyson23 They do have the Grand Slam Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas, and it's funny, Even Klingons will go on the Experience, Kinda defeats the purpose of the storyline, doesn't it? But it is funny in the promanade, the promanade's Klingon doesn't even know nuq daQ Oh' puchpa ' e " which in klingon is " Where's the bathroom. LOL.
When we did this one there was a Star Trek Convention in town...there was actually two guys in our group dressed as Klingons and one of the tour guides leaned in the turbolift and said "We've had some reports that there may be some infiltrators...keep an eye on those two in particular."
lol, was a fantastic experience, would happily do it every weekend. The pic of me in the Captain's chair is one of my prized possessions.
that was my favorite part too! :D first time i went on, I shrieked because of the cold. lol But damn that was so awesome, especially trying to figure out 'how' ..haha
if you cant photograph a single frame well enough so that your audience can fucking see what is going on in the fucking video, then dont photograph it!
christ, I hate these annoying amateur videos.
What the hell are we looking at legs for?? Or backs of heads? And why must the fucking picture jump constantly? Arent cameras small enough today, that you can handle them easily? I mean they only weigh like 10 grams nowadays!
They are really strict at star trek the experience about taking pictures and videotaping. If they caught him with the camera they would have taken it away.
AFAIK, they basically flash blind you while at the same time pulling the first transporter room backward and the 2nd one drops in from above. (Notice how you enter with the door on one side then leave with the door on the other?)
BIG Hydraulics involved so that the large rooms can move quickly. The secret is in the move being fast and seamless.
amazing! but how does the ground change?! i specifically remember them telling us to step on a star & line up. or something of that sort because they make you believe you're going to ride a simulator. BUT THANK YOU! :)
Great quality footage, glad you weren't shot with a phaser and where able to bring back this video. I always wish we could have acted :o "Oh my we're under attack!" We're from a time of automobiles and rockets, we're not ready for this, Ahh. And got to look about the bridge more as we passed through, still it's about as good as having a walk on role and never actually having got to meet the actors in costume, but still pretty good :)
check out my video as well! It was not allowed to film inside, but I also just wanted to enjoy the ride. I hope the Star Trek Experience will soon be located somewhere else.
HAHA, me too! I went so many times, that the people at the front didn't even bother to check my ticket. LMAO. They just waved me in a with grin. lol ^_^
And yeah, I second that. Borg invasion was cool; but my favorite goes to Klingon. But I don't think that's going to be in the new place is it? :,( Since previously we crashed in the Hilton...that can't be anymore. :,( Great, more reasons to cry.
The Klingon Encounter *WAS* the experience really. I cant imagine them not having it. Perhaps it can still crash into the Hilton, or maybe they can edit the 3D movie so it is the new hotel or something.
Let me say.... That it feels like you really are onboard the Enterprise. the "crew" are awesome! Totally in character, the sets are...brillient! And overal, once you enter the ship..you never want to leave it. lol Always wondering "what's behind that door" or "around the corner" lol ^_^
I love that the Excalibur is the first hotel you see in the vegas footage. I remember when they shot that footage from a helicopter in the middle of the night. The attraction may reopen downtown vegas sometime soon. Nothing finalized yet that has been made public.
I know how you feel, I have been there 4 or 5 times and I purposely went after the convention but before it closed. I took a good friend of mine who is a amature Trekkie. It was his first time there and I tried to describe to hime what it would be like, but I couldn't do it justice. When we left there for the last time I almost did cry and got a little depressed.
Excellent. That ride was indeed fucking brilliant. I was fortunate enough to have "experienced" it in 1997 when I was in grade 5. Fucking awesome. Love live Star Trek and god hoping they make some decent video games.
I almost feel as if I am riding along in the shuttle in that one part. Thank you so much for this video, it allowed me to experience on my computer what I will never get to do in real life... Never take this video down!!!
Footage was a little shakey and editing could have been tighter, but good job concealing the camera! And let's give it up for Melvin & Brigid! Great performance kids!
I went there yesterday. I definitely enjoyed Klingon Encounter more than Borg 4D. Klingon Encounter was more engaging, it had more action and felt more involved and realistic. It could've been longer though, especially with more aliens and battles.
I heard they are going to close STTE before the year ends. That's going to suck, because the new Star Trek film isn't even out yet. However, there might be plans to keep it around if the film does pretty good at the box office. It's the business that is lacking. And I've only gone here for only tow times. Gotta go get my "Final Fronteir" this summer if they indeed close it down.
my guess is during the red alert parts and the gimble simulator it was dark enough to hide it probaly because a lot of the time they were looking at the celling like they were using the comm like the the falling turbolift.
:O Holy moley man, congrats. You are officially god in my book. Shame though that you didnt get the transporter. That is the best theme park effect, evar. Hey, be careful. Cedar Fair may not care about this video, but I guarentee you, Paramount will.

it is going to be re-opened in a Las Vegas mall. It was great fun to hang out there in the Hilton. I always had a grin on my face being there.
Later this year maybe you can go with some other friends and go there? It should be re-opened sometime in 2010.
