  • "Coincidence maybe"

    I don't believe in coincidences. ;)

I have an Aspie sister, and I suspect I have a bit of it as well. So I'm one of the rare people who can appreciate this song for what it is.

It's so truthful, especially "the rest of us take for granted what we all do without thinking". The "normal" people never question what they're given, never wonder about anything besides what they know.

  • this song is so beautiful, i have a son with autism , and i love him with all my heart and i pray to god that one day i would hear him speak, please jesus help us , to make our dream come true.

  • my son has severe autism, alot of people think autistic children are strange, they are beautiful children that jus t have trouble expressing emotions the right way. i look intomy sons eyes and wish that i knew everything hes thinking but one thing i do know is that he has real felling and he loves me.. and thats all i need, i love him so much. i love you pat-pat!

  • LOve the lyrics!!! Can't wait till I hear my 6 yr old say mommy, I Love you!

  • My baby sister is on the Spectrum. She just started to talk a little bit thanks to intense therapy. I pray to God everyday in thanks for that gift. Even though her most used word is No! I am praying for your daughter. This is a beautiful song. I am sorry for the 4 people who disliked this video.. they are ignorant of the beauty and love.

  • @HstryGrl yea when they are on the spektrum like me we don t talk so much

  • That is a beautiful song. My son is Autistic. He is non-verbal. We are working and we see the thoughts just like you said. One of my biggest hopes is that I'll here him speak.

  • I will say a prayer for your son. My daughter has taught me more about myself than I could ever imagine.

  • @MrsSteward1980 ME TO MY DAUGHTER IS 15 YRS OLD SHE IS SEVERE THE WORST IS NO SPEECH IF ITS GODS WILL WE WILL SEE OUR CHILDREN SPEAK GOD BLESS U

  • A song of infinite Love insight and Reality

  • @SteveSparx reality? the reality is that we do not accept and understand our kids. they need that. communicate with them on other levels thats what they want. we force other things on them. give them a voice box or a computer keyboard and see what happens. you would be amazed.

  • i have autism an just statred living on my own everything ytakes us longer

  • @auti34 yes it does, have autism by my self, hard to talk to peoles and have eye contact

  • @auti34 good for you. i wish you the best. am very proud of you.

  • A beautiful song. I have Asperger's, a mild asd. I also am a folk musician/singer/songwriter. I so far wrote 4 songs in the autism awareness theme. I found this video few years ago soon after finding what made me different was having AS. I would like to know how Kirsten turned out.

  • There are no perfect brains do support nerodizersty

  • I have autism and have eye contact whit somebody is very hard for me, also the thing s I like much is easy, I don t feel pain so much, I am often sad, like to bee alone sometimes, don t have so much friends, Don t talk so much, becuse it s hard to find something to say.

  • @kalols2 Where are you on the spectrum? How old are you? Watch my video ~ My Autism Speaks Walk Speech ~

I want to help everyone on the spectrum to have a better way of life! I am 46 and can't work, buy things, travel, date, get married because, I am Autistic! I am proud that I am Autistic! I would like to keep the good things in me but, get rid of the bad so that I can socialize, have friends, a wife and not be descriminated against because, I am

    Autistic!

  • @renaissanceknight it s autism spectrum I have, I am 20

  • Wow this is such a good song.

  • It probably did help her to let her know that you love her and even though you wish she would talk it's OK if she didn't. You would love her anyway.

  • 3 ppl havent been touched by the loving hand of achild with autis and just dont undertsand

  • Hey this song was pretty good. My son is autistic. This describes exactly how I feel. Good job!

  • @beckasha83 me too

  • Goodness, you can SING!!! I adore your powerful voice! I haven't heard such good singing from a stranger in years!

Ah, man, and you made me cry. Genetic tendencies toward autism run in my family. Two of my little angels are being tested right now, and I'm on the spectrum myself. Life is just so uncertain, yanno? Warmest well wishes to you and yours.

  • I am touched by your response. This is why I put this video up here. To share with the world about Autism, awareness of it, and to let everyone know, that they are different but not less as Temple Grandin says. Your son is lucky to have you.

  • I was watching this video and it really touches me...I have a 2 1/2 years old with Autism and he has lost a lot of language and I long for the day he is able to speak to me and tell me how he feels, and what he is thinking...I am crying as I write this, I just wonder what is behind those big beautiful eyes of his...Thank you this was beautiful!

  • i have autisim im 21 all my life has been a struggle and i wanted to know why , due to years of research i have found a main cause of autisim . i blame vaccines and had been forced to have the mmr jab as a child and since then my development changed then got diagnsed with autisim , they have a highly concentrated mercury in them aswell as other horrible things which cause time and time again horrible disabilitys . the government doesnt care about you just your money and pain .

  • Thanks. She is the best thing that ever happened to me by far. Everywhere I go people go out of their way to say "HI KIRSTEN". She is loved by everyone

  • Your daughter is a beautiful young woman, and these clips into your/her life are just lovely. The lyrics are excellent, and if I were to change a few words to be about a son, then this would be a perfect example of my thoughts about my son.

  • I have autism aspergers. I cant do anything and everyone in school hates me and they want me assissanted. Im nor normal. My brother who is 11 has a gf.

  • Moviefreak95. I am sure it is hard living with aspergers. I didn't have aspergers but I had a hard time in school. First off kids are mean and you need to just ignore them and find who you are and take the time to become the best you are at what you are good at if you do over time you'll meet some true friends who have your interests. Let me tell you as you get older it does get easier to find true friends who accept you just the way you are.

  • Moviefreak95... I'll tell you what I tell my son. Everyone's brain is wired differently and everyone has skills they are good a and everyone has things that are challenging for them it doesn't make you better or worse than anyone else just mean that this is your weakness and you have to work harder at it. What you need to do is say this is who I am and I am going to make the best of my strengths and work hard to improve my weaknesses.

  • that story u put on here u are like me.

  • Dear MovieFreak95, =)

My bf has that kind of Austism..

He goes to a special school...

But, I think your just normal.

My bf acts like a normal kid you can't even notice it..

    Good Wishes

    xxxxx

  • koko

  • you are a jerk this is a serous disorder. Don't you dare joke about Asperger's EVER AGAIN.

  • my little brother has Autism it can be hard somtimes when you try to help him fix a toy or somthing and he will get frustrated and take a tantrum but i still love him :D ! xx

  • We had protestors at our walk to, I understand not everyone agrees with all of Autism Speaks ways and beliefs I mean Im on the border but Im for ANYONE who is honestly trying to help people on the spectrum with my son.

  • I am a 45 yr old man with Autism. I do not have Aspergers though. On Sat. Sept. 26, 09 I walked for Autism Speaks in downtown Portland, Or. where we were protested by 4 people. Channel 6 here ran a story condeming us as a hate group. This is because, a group known as ASAN told them that we hate people with Autism. This is not true. We are made up of Auistic Adults, Children, Parents, and anyone else who has or knows someone with Autism. We want research and to help everyone with Autism.

  • WHat happened to you is very unfair.

  • @renaissanceknight That sucks my son and I are both autistic. I would love to put him in his handicap stroller and take him to a walk but he can't handle crowds or noise and I can't handle noise so thats not happening anytime soon.

Remember always be a surviver and never a victim of autism.Live each day to the fullest.

  • @renaissanceknight You may not realize it, but Autism Speaks is a terrible organization. Their goal is to find a "cure" for autism, and they treat it as a disease. I have extremely mild ASD and for five ears I was forced into speech therapy after being diagnosed, which made no change whatsoever becuse it was unneccesary. It doesn't happen anymore but the memories will never go away. We will not stop protesting against them until they accept us for who we are and stop trying to change us.

  • @garland531 I really like the song! But, just because you are above me on the spectrum doesn't mean that you should deny me my purpose in life! We want the same thing! We want to educate the ignorante! We want to continue to keep the best parts of who we are! What's wrong with making our lives better by research? If I was not a strong Catholic and did not find Zoloft I may have commited Suicide 12yrs or more ago we need 2 come2gether & find 1 goal. Watch My Autism Walk Speech! this is the truth!

  • @renaissanceknight Why do you want to change who you are? There is no cure for autism. It's not something to be cured. It should be celebrated. Bill Gates and Steven Spielburg are on the spectrum. If they would have been "cured," they would lose their creativity and ability to concentrate enough to bring amazing things into the world. Do NOT think you're disabled ever. You are a gifted and intelligent person, now just realize that and stop trying to change the way people think.

  • @garland531 i totally agree. like i said there are all kinds of ways to communicate not just speaking.

  • @renaissanceknight you failed to mention that ASAN is created and run by people WITH autism. you also failed to mention that autism speaks does not do anything for people with autism. last yr they made 5 million dollars and only 41 thousand went to people with autism. the rest went to employees, expenses like employees homes, travel including employee celebrations, jet planes that they OWN and other things. dont believe me? i found a copy of their taxes on line its true. they like money, do

  • @Mrstrangfamiliarity litterally noting for people with autsm they refuse to even hire anyone with autism to their staff. hell one of their employees even stated that if given the chance she would kill her autistic child because she does not want her as it is too "hard" to raise her. learn the truth please. ASAN is an awesome organization and no i do not belong to them i am trying to explain why they protest. they are sick of it.

  • Since Thimerosal is in vaccines (1933 ?)everybody has autism.

You just have to look a bit harder at seemingly "normal' people to see their autism specs.

  • heya, just wanted to let you know that no matter how distant we seem from our parents, or no matter how angry we autistics seem to be with you

we more oftenly than not love the shit out of you

  • i have 4 sons all whom have autism amongst other problems..3 of them have words but my youngest has nothing..life is sometimes hard but i wouldnt change them for nothing... autism makes them who they are and who i am....

    great song...means loads

  • Su cancion es bellisima, gracias por compartirla.

  • That's sooooo beautiful.

  • If I can type this through my tears of joy for you. Love this song. Amazingly, it was the use of song and sign language that my son started to talk too. I made up songs using the signs as I learned them and he responded. I believe you have a miracle in her speaking after this spirit felt song burst from your soul.

  • Yeah, having a child with Autism really opens your eyes. I'm one of the lucky ones, my son can talk...but its still hard. I haven't gotten a hug in years now. He's still my little boy, and some days are worse than others. But there isn't a cure. However, some of these kids can grow up to lead somewhat normal lives. I know, I married one! My family found out about 6 months after my son's diagnosis that my husband has Asperger Syndrome. Life in my house is strange.

  • I work with two children with autism. One very very severe, and the other non verbal, but very independent. I give parents so much credit raising children with autism. They are VERY special individuals with SO much potential. I am in Child and Youth Care and working towards my degree. I plan on continuing my work with autism. We need to find a cure!! :)

  • I give you credit. I wasn't very compassionate before I had a child with a disability. It opened my eyes to a side of me I didn't think I had.

    We need c cure!

  • autism cant be cured. dont think much autists would accept it. i have autism myself and i wouldn't like to be cured, because it has a positive side too (I have an IQ of 189)

  • I have autism to and i'm a striat A student and people never even knew until I tell them. I still show some symptoms but I can function normally.

  • i have disabilit ,im luck to be a live, if you want to know im on facebook nick zepeda the one with the garfield photo

  • @pdonovansouthie It is not a disability and we do not need a cure. Unless you want to tell me that Albert Einstein, Thomas Jefferson, Bill Gates, Bruce Lee, Steven Spielberg, Vincent Van Gogh, Nikola Tesla, and many others with ASD were disabled. Actually, they naturally have higher intelligence. But they are also 30 times more likely to attempt suicide. This is most likely a result of the discrimination they face from organizations trying to "cure" them. None of us want to be cured.

  • @greenapple159 i have autism, just one question : why a cure...?

  • @tldragonking I would love their to be a cure. I spent my whole life with Aspergers and Aspergers ruined my life! To some people, autism is a gift, to other, autism is a curse. To me, it is a curse.

  • This is just amazing!! i'm a student studying psychology here in malta and i defintely intend to open research on autsim here.

wonderful, thankyou so much for sharing

  • Keep me posted on your research progress

  • I'm still an undergraduate but yes i will

  • How beautiful! I'm crying (again, I've been watching videos on autism for the last couple of hours on youtube). How old was your daughter when she started speaking? My son (turning four in August) does not speak at all. He said mama and dada back around his first birthday but those quickly disappeared. I am praying someday he will speak to me again (or find some other form of communication) so he can tell me what he's thinking and feeling.

  • She always could speak, but rarely did voluntarily. She's 18 now and speaks all the time so I am blessed and appreciate every step of her advancement. She gets jokes now, but didn't until she was 12. I will pray for your son.

  • Thank you. I was floored yesterday when I did "Itsy Bitsy Spider" with my son (for the millionth time) and he copied the hand gestures with me! Then he wanted me to repeat and "told" me by doing the "spider" gesture. Might not seem like much to many but to me it signified the chance to eventually communicate with him...at least through sign language! I don't know much of it yet but definitely plan to learn, now. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for sharing this song lyrics and video. Check out my YouTube by searching A IS FOR AUTISM. You might like my little story.

HOW AWESOME that you wrote the song and the positive impact it has!

  • You are going to heaven working with these "gifted" children. The highest compliment I can give someone is respect, and you have mine.

  • Thank you for sharing, just wonderful.
