  • Cuanto pagarè al mes y cuanto Cuesta ?

  • Do you have to pay a bill, like a monthly cell phone bill? Or once you purchase it, you don't need to pay any more, ever.

  • kabayan? ^_^

  • @votewisely123,

    Of course! :)

  • @o0Deano2k80o

They just announced unlimited data for the Virgin Mobile MiFi and it's only $40/month.

  • is this pocketable? I'd love to carry one of these around in my pocket wherever and get WiFi for my iPod touch. Thank you. This is exactly what I was hoping they'd come out with next.

  • @TheAppAzi,

It is indeed pocketable and it works just fine with our iPod/iPhone test units.

  • Great video, It helped me out a lot! I really want to purchase this device but paying $60 per month and only 5GB is just not worth it. Maybe when they reconfigure the plan and usage I'll bite, but not yet.

  • ONE thing it needs is to remove that 5Gb cap, I would be fine with 60bucks if it didn't have that cap, I use about 5gbs every couple of days, and sense this is for connecting a notebook, you really can't use that whole why do you need that on a phone thing.

  • I paid one price for my desktop router and I will pay one price for a carried router.Good idea but too large a price. If you pay a monthly fee you should not hesitate to use the product as much as possible. Why use the product sometimes when hour paying continuosly that's all I'm saying

  • Amen.

Finally, a well produced and informative tech video on Youtube!

The guy has presentation skills in spades and knows his stuff.

I'm looking for a wireless internet device for use in a semi-remote location which cannot have a cable internet line installed.

Ideally it will have an ethernet jack allowing connection to a router. Does anyone here know who else apart from Bell and Rogers I can consider for the data plan?

  • GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS

  • MJ rocks....... Just had to put that out there..

  • Anything similar (as good as) the Mifi 2200 compatible with AT&T? Great Video!

  • Reneivan,

Unfortunately, no. The closest I've been able to come on the AT&T network is an iPhone that's been hacked to broadcast over it's WiFi. Even that is not nearly as fast or usable at the MiFi from Sprint or Verizon. (Not to mention that the AT&T 3G network is unusable in many areas of the country.)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • hey man its for $59.99 for 5GB/month what does that mean ? can i download a 20gb file or does that mean how much the speed also i if i buy a sprint mifi can i get serves with verzion? and do you think this will work in south america????

  • princevinny97,

    .

    1. You will pay extra if you download more than 5GB a month.

    .

    2. You CAN buy from Sprint and use it on the Verizon network and vice versa, but then you would be paying the cancellation AND startup costs. That doesn't make sense since it's the same MiFi 2200 on both networks.

    .

    3. This will NOT work in South America. CDMA is found primarily in the US and parts of Asia.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts do you know how much you pay when you pass the 5gb cap?

  • Good idea! Can you give more detail on "severing the data pins?" Ive not done cable surgery before, and Im not afraid or unable to do this, just need a little more guidance. Thanks again and Blessings!

  • CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS MORE? I AM CONFUSED. CAN IT BE USED WHILE RECHARGING OR NOT? IF CAN BE USED, CAN YOU SUPPLY PICTURES OF THE RECHARGING DEVICE REQUIRED? "However, the device is smart enough to know when it is connected to a data bus, or just to a power source. That means that you can plug the MiFi 2200 into an external battery or a power adapter while keeping the WiFi hotspot open."

  • zixitbaby,

You can use it while recharging. If it is plugged into a computer's data bus, then the MiFi recognizes the fact and shuts off the WiFi radio. (i.e. you are still connected, but only through the USB cable, not via WiFi.)

If you plug it into a NON-data-bus USB port, like an external battery or an AC/DC adapter, then the MiFi recognizes that and keeps the WiFi on.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Im still confused. I can plug it into my USB 7 port hub which has an external power adapter source so it will recharge AND keep the WiFi on?

  • zixitbaby,

You COULD do that, assuming that the USB hub is NOT connected to a computer. -- If the MiFi detects that it is connected to a live DATA bus (as opposed to JUST the power bus) it will shut off the WiFi.

Another option is to just buy a USB cable, sever the data pins, and now it's a dedicated power-only cable.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Details and guidance please on how/which data pins to sever?

"Another option is to just buy a USB cable, sever the data pins, and now it's a dedicated power-only cable."

  • do you have to pay monthly fees or you can just buy this and go to internet no matter where you are

  • arianmorad,

    There is a monthly fee. $39.99 for 250MB/month. $59.99 for 5GB/month.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • would this work on an xbox 360 because i have the wireless internet adapter and the xbox live card but they cut my internet off so would this work for it

  • If you have the WiFi adapter, then yes.

  • Except Verizon has a 5GB maximum monthly cap.

  • Yes, but theres a 5GB Cap

  • o sry i jst rembered it said macbook haha sry and how do u set it up do u plug it in wen u 1st get it ?? and how do u get the password 4 it or do u make ur own ??

  • The SSID and WPA password are on the back of the unit. You can log in and change them both.

  • does it work with mac ? and can u charge it by the adapter and use it wirelessly ??

  • Yes, it works with Mac. And yes, you can charge and use.

  • theres a little hack where you can cut a wire on the usb cable and when you plug it into a computer, it will just charge and you can still use the service

  • Jr4594,

Just remember that is uses a MicroUSB connector... not many of us have extra MicroUSB cable laying around.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • in australis optus charges $100 for recharging a 3g wireless network card that is a pretty good price you guys have.

  • yanni6556,

I heard MANY horror stories of Aussy Internet pricing. How much do you typically pay for your cable/dsl? What is your cap?

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Its actually not that bad if you want cable internet. My personal plan is that i get twenty five gigs a month. 13 offpeak and 12 onpeak . I pay eighty dollars a month with foxtel (cable tv) and a home phone which i rarely use.

Though with another company which has horrible speeds you can get adsl2+ with eighty gigs for fifty bucks if you go over though capping is horribly slow in australia it would take me ten minutes to load this page let alone the video.

  • I don't think it's worth it. You can find free WIFI just about anywhere or you can get WIFI that is not free for less than $60 a month.

  • But you can't get wireless when you are out in the middle of no where. As long as you can get cell phone service you can get internet. The only thing I don't like is that its a extra device to have to carry around and run the risk of loosing.

  • True, but this device is ideal for places that don't have any wifi AP's nearby, but are within the 3G network coverage.

  • sgreen4,

Also remember that "free WiFi" is illegal unless you have permission from the owner of the network.

Additionally, even with the paid WiFi, it's still a shared system that is susceptible to unauthorized packet capture. -- Not that the 3G service is uncrackable, but it's much more difficult to do.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert
