  • first variation of alina somova I like. But she keeps losing control of her arms during the italian fouettes (happens to her too in paquita variation). Taking into account that her balance improve a lot, I wish her arms could do it too and she could get soon the dance quality that her status suggests.

  • she is beautiful

  • what ballet is this from?

  • @ballerina0215 Don Q

  • por favor, la mujer esta tiene que comer... es desagrdable, no encuentro la belleza posible en que alguien parezca salido de un campo de concentracion por mas piernas que levante...

  • what's a shame that i wasn't in Moscow that time....

  • she is very beautiful. her extensions are amazing and she can balance really well!

  • Her legs and upper body are so soft but her arms seem a little stiff in her Italian fouettes for some reason. I think her arms could be better, especially when you judge her against other Kirov dancers, but she always has room to grow.

  • ma le braccia?

  • She is totally weightless. Looking forward to her La Sylphide.

  • she makes alot of noise with her pointe shoes .... :S

  • wow shes beutiful

  • it freaks me out how thin her arms are.

    wonderful dancing though.

  • then you should see me. you would be more freaked out.

  • thoose lines...so niceee:D

  • ..senza le doti a regola..

    è davvero impressionante!!!=)

  • quem é ela???

  • senza parole..

  • she wears gaynors

  • oh my god beautiful!!!!!!

  • I love her sensitivity. So spontanious!

  • she is so beautiful on stage!

  • I'd be tempted to say that Queen of Dryads is her best role, but and here it is. La Bayadere is her best role. I saw her recently and she took my breath away!

  • BLUFFANT.

  • woooooooow

  • She is so AMAZING!

  • amazing

  • She is fluid to fault. Her movements redefine classical vocabulary. The great dancer in making!

  • stunning.

  • she's amazing!! and she's very tall right? deos somebody knows her hight?:)

  • She looks much taller on stage. She is only 5'8"

  • what's her hight? sorry I didn;t umderstnd. can you write this with meters?:)

  • no, she is about 5'6.

  • this is my favourite video evevr, so so beautiful. i shall keep practicing until i am this good.

  • Please post more SOMOVA videos!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is impossibly light. She sort of glides like a skater. Marvel of nature, that's what this girl is!

  • Insanely creative interpretation of the familiar choreography. Go, Alina!!!!

  • Yes ballet is getting a bit manic nowadays with everything being about technique. But not everybody WANTS to see this. Alina Somova is what they refer to as 'the new breed' of kirov dancers. She's exceptional in many ways. What she doesn't yet have will come in time(experience). What she'll probably never have is something ballet has virtually lost - that nameless quality of the old era. She is trained in the new ballet style, therefore it is in that which she excells.

  • people here who think she isnt good thers a problem, you may not think it but ballet today is all about the extensions and the amount of pirouettes the female dancer does. personally i think it was beautiful and if u dont think she is stable, watch again closely because after every side extension she does she balances..now that is control

  • i definetly agree.

she is stunning all though she is tiny she is strong.

i hate it how people say shes not good like they could do better!

  • Wow, those arms are sticks... Anyway, it looked a bit awkward to me. She's obviously a good dancer, but I would NOT put her in the same class as Zakharova or Guillem.

  • Actually I see it as strength and not weakness. Her movements look very fluid precisely because there are no obvious accents, no delineation between pas. They flow naturally like melody. But I agree that on the whole technically speaking, Zakharova is stronger and Guillem seemed to be even stronger than Zakharova.

  • These kind of extreme extentions have no place in a 19th century classic.

Ballet is not about how high your leg can go. Ballet is about dancing ie feeling the music, moving to the music, conveying joy.

This is gymnastics and not very good at that - she looks unstable at many points.

  • The best anyone has danced this variation.

  • I agree. Fantastic!

  • wow!!! i love her in this variation!!! alina is a big rival for svetlana zakharova! and sylivi güllem is nothing now! high legs are one of the most important things in the new ballet-generation now, and alina have this-(all russians)but not only the technic is importent a big smile and lot of love must be present on the stage and alina, svetlana... have it to!!!

    i love you russia!

  • Whatever, she wishes she could do half of the things Sylvie Guillem did. Shes weak, has very weak feet, her point technique is not where it should be, cant really turn or jump... so

  • She gradated from Vaganova academy, that's why she is PERFECT!!!

  • wow, thats inspirational, im practicing my side splits RIGHT now!

  • intense! awsome!!!!

  • wow not only is she beautiful she is also one of the most beautiful dancers i've seen on this age! amazing she is gorgeous! a great dancer and a good performer!!!

  • yes this is where this variation belongs.

  • is this really donq? i thought it was le corsaire?

  • She is beautiful, but she seems really unstable when she puts her leg up, even though it is high, she always falls out of it. She seems more of a gymnast than a dancer. But it is amazing nevertheless!!

  • Magnifique!!!
