Fantastic find! The white doves & gorgeous flowers were a perfect touch! The resurrection light through the stone "door" was a brilliant idea! The soldiers really played the scene as one might imagine, though never covered in other Jesus movies.
I'm sure that audiences back in 1927 were astounded to see this scene played out in color. Of course, this is just two-strip color. Not like the Technicolor that is used in almost every movie today. Still, I'm sure audiences were like "WOW!"
Great movie! It's hard to believe that the actor playing Jesus is the same one who played the poor old drunken pharmacist in "It's A Wonderful Life"! I read that after playing Jesus H. B. Warner got typecast into roles of the typical good guy, so he was delighted to be able to play the less-than-perfect pharmacist!
I know an actor likes to play various roles but I think the far greater challenge in acting is to portray a truly good man. It's far easier to play evil types.
This is amazing Technicolor. A movie about Jejus really does disserve color, they could have shot this movie in plain black and white but Cecil B. Demille decided this story really does disserve color
I've always loved silent movies not for the genre itself, necessarily, but for the glimpse into history, of a time so long ago. (Therefore I prefer silent movies that weren't also period pieces).

This is one of the best RISEN scenes i have seen even by today's standards...the risen scenes of modern times are so short and unremarkable.....

Thanks for posting this. It's a very moving, lovely sequence, and it still stirs the emotions 83 years after it was made...

Every time I watch this I cry. It's so beautiful, despite the decomposition.

I've never cared for silent movies. But this was excellent. The reactions of the soldiers was very affecting. Thanks for posting it.
