I can't include the damned Russians because of the barbaric way they treated the German civilian women at the fall of Berlin. They were WORSE than the Nazis, and may they all burn in hell. ZAllies like them we DON'T need!
@a19gregjockca Are you actually fucking serious? These brave men and women who put their lives on the line to defend their home nation from rising terror! And all you think about them are closeted homosexuals. Pathetic.
The 20th century saw more cruel carnage than any previous century before it due to the Socialists and Communists who slaughtered millions. Now we are stupidly embracing both of these ideologies in America when history has proven neither work.

@wimpous In a sense, all wars are pointless. In another sense, one must fight to preserve life and property and the lives of others. In this sense, these deaths were not pointless. If we had not gone to war against Germany and they were let to have their way by slaughtering innocent people, as they did in both wars, then we would just have mass slaughter without "war." I choose "war."

"Who was the first that forged the deadly blade? Of rugged steel his savage soul was made."-Tibullus Such a true statement. War has ravaged our species throughout the whole of our evolution but war is natural. whether it be between predator and prey or the same species. But thinking that we're sentient beings, we would be able to set aside our differences. Sadly this is not the case.
Hi. I have just finished our tribute to the brave forces that paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Great War. Its called Requiem for a lost generation. Please go and have a listen. Thanks
as the old saying goes "only the dead have seen the end of war" - Platon, May all the lost souls of wars and peace times alike Rest In Peace. Werever they lived and however they died. men and wimmen of each and every religius belives and culture...
As another moving experience, attend the ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ieper (Ypres) in Belgium. The traffic stops a few moments before the ceremony and all becomes quiet. At exactly 20:00hrs buglers from the local volunteer Fire Brigade step into the roadway and play Last Post, followed by Reveille. This has been done every night since the end of WWI with the exception of the years of occupation in WW2. It is a living memorial to those who died.
These are all images taken in Ypres (Ieper) in Belgium, i've been there too with school, it was the most emotional experience of my life. About 150 british military cemeteries are there. You have to check Tyne Cot (also in Ypres), it's the biggest british military cemetery in europe with about 11 000 headstones. Seeing all these cemeteries makes you think...
In my school we went on a ww1 trenches trip to europe and saw all these allied and axis graves, it was the most depressing, most darkened day in my life. I truely respect everyone who fought for their country to preserve peace and freedom. We shall never forget the fallen. R.I.P
I love this song---perfect choice for a vid like this.
Now there's only one WW1 veteran left alive in Canada, and none alive in Britain. I hope that doesn't mean we'll forget the horror that was The Great War. I'm a pacifist myself, but I think wars of the past and present should always be in our memory. In this time of media manipulation and political deception, it's so easy for some to forget that we are still at war. "In Flanders Fields" is as relevant now as it was 91 years ago.
"not to ask the question why, just to do and die."
this really made me cry, but i don´r care. I just pray to our Lord in Heaven that all the wars would end. and the men and wimmen who died to defend our future will find peace where ever they are.
My boyfriend served in the war on terror and whatever they wanted to call. it... ALL i KNOW IS THAT DE WAS GONE FOR LONG TIME. hE WAS DOOD MAN, WANTEDE TO DELP, DIDN;T KNOW ENGLISH... i WOULD HAVE HELPED HIM
That brought tears to my eyes. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen.. I'm married to a gulf war vet, he still has nightmares... I want him to see this.
love the video a soldier in afghanistan and all of my grandparents were veterains and my borther just was killed in the line of duty. i love them and miss them all and i am here fighting grandpa just like you wanted me to.
Words will never be enough to express our gratitude and sorrow for that fought and died so that we might live better lives. We must all promise to never forget lest the atrocities occur once more. Who will join me in holding their torch high so that all see its light and are never allowed to forget. Others who might wish this to happen again must see that we stand united as one and that we will not let this happen again. I will never forget
Thank you for remembering these honored dead. Honor what they fought for, and what they died to preserve. Keep faith with them. Pick up the torch they have passed to you, and bear it with as much courage as they did. Do not forget them, or their sacrifice, or they will not sleep though poppies grow, in Flander fields row on row. Thank you for posting this video. God bless, and keep these men, and all of you.
The long march of human history has been marred bye war. Unfortunately, one doesn't get "World Peace" bye wishing for it. It seems the best humanity can hope for are "little spurts of peace". How do we get those "little spurts of peace"? What is the price of peace? The answer is sadly simple "In Flanders fields where poppies blow, between the crosses row on row".
I know, i took pictures of the flowers standing on the cemetaries, but as you noticed very cleverly, they are not always poppies. In fact, the cemeteries I visited, didn't have poppies at all! Maybe it wasn't the season, because I made those pics in the middle of the winter (November).
Excellent pictures, reminds me of when I visited the battlefields and heard the story of John McCrae.
