  • I guess Bert learned his leaden!

  • Now I think if I recall correctly Frank did do voices of Bert, Grover and Cookie Monster in the other Sesame Street storybook video collection. I mean the ones with Super Grover and "The Great Cookie Thief." I don't think Henson was involved there though.

  • @conraddork I was afraid you would suggest that. :(

  • @conraddork Sesame Street: Start-To-Read Video - Don't Cry, Big Bird?

  • @mariamnewton Sorry, I do not have that one and I am not planning on renting "Don't Cry Big Bird." Just order one off of Amazon or Ebay.

  • @conraddork But that's not what's worrying me, it's the fact that the Super Powers read-along videos are no longer up, and neither is the opening that goes "See & Read: Children's Storybook Video" which includes the Kid Stuff/Kid Vid logo. =(

  • I had this book when I was little! The dialogue is a little different in this video then in the book. Although, I will say the voice-acting is terrible. Bert clearly sounds like Big Bird, and while this is supposed to be told from Big Bird's perspective, Carol Spinney does a good job immitating Ernie and Grover, but if he's the voice of Oscar, why does he do the voice so radically different here???

  • @powerpup97 The reason why Oscar sounds different is because it's supposed to sound like Big Bird IMITATING Oscar's voice. Rather than Caroll Spinney voicing all the characters, he voices Big Bird imitating the other characters!

  • ernie sounds like a drunken barney

  • That doesn't sound like Oscar's voice. If Carol Spinny is narrating and did the actual voice of Big Bird, how come he dosen't do the actual voice of Oscar in this one?

  • @JDWolfman12271 Caroll Spinney did ALL the voices in this video. I believe it is supposed to be Big Bird imitating Oscar's voice, which would explain why he sounds off. The other characters I believe are also supposed to be Big Bird trying to imitate his friends' voices (who knew he could do impressions?)

  • @wileyk209zback oh i see

  • wow... this was my FAVORITE book when i was little. My mom read it to me so much that I memorized it and could "read" it myself, even turn the page at the right time. Eventually it fell apart, so I taped it back together. I havent heard this story in like 16 or 17 years.

  • 4:06 "SOFT BEDS ARE YUCKY!!!" XD

  • I'd make a story of this in a much higher level for the older kids!:D

  • Caroll Spinney Does a Great Ernie I can Tell you that much!

  • I remember getting this video when I was little at my old library at Miami, FL (where I used to live). And I saw this video at Goodwill Woodstock.

  • Nostalgia... I remember being scared shitless when Bert shouted at Ernie for some reason...

  • Is it me, or did Bert come down with a bad case of bipolar disorder?

  • I loved Big Bird, when I was little.

    He was cool!

  • u wished to be by urself bert, u got it.

  • @slapshot68 I'm sure he's learned _his_ lesson.

  • 1 of them was from 1987

  • Having the 15-second chant "See & Read: Children's Storybook Video" at the beginning of this program would have made sense to me. I don't care if this ever comes out on DVD or not, but I think the old VHS videos can be converted to DVD since it's doubtful they have that "Macrovision Copy Protection." One thing is for sure, shows such as Ovide, Jungle Cubs, and Timon & Pumbaa MUST be released on official DVD box sets.

  • why?

  • I cried when I was a little kid watching this. hahahaha!!!

  • I love this movie and book! Ernie is my favorite Sesame Street character! I felt so sad for him in this movie especially when he said Where can I sleep? I am so tired! If I lived on Sesame Street I would of let Ernie come and saty with me!

  • Why are Jim Henson and Frank Oz unavailable to do voices here? I just know Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch are performed by Caroll Spinney (their respective performer), but Ernie, Bert and Grover all sound very different and weird, BTW.

  • IDK; I think Jim Henson was already dead by this time, and Frank Oz was VERY busy with other projects. I just know these videos were made by the same people that made the "Dr. Seuss Beginner Book Videos" from the early 1990s

  • Actually, this video was released in 1987, Jim didn't die untill 1990

  • Caroll could've done the REAL Oscar voice here, but now he sounds like Grover.
