For raw number crunching cell does the job, but in video games, it won't beat i7. And the CPU isn't the only thing you need to run a game, PS3 (and X360) lacks good GPU, the difference is easy to see when you compare texture quality of source engine based game (hl2 for example) on PS3 and midrange gaming PC.
