Opera capolavoro di un grande genio italiano ingiustamente sottovalutato! Quanto ha dato alla musica Salieri!!! Quante opere ancora da riscoprire!!! Musica che precorre l'opera romantica per molti aspetti.
i could say tha in this opera, there are all the corrents of music. someone could say that is an opera of 1830. or not? it is stupid but i believe that scenes ftom comic operas of Salieri are more, more, more trgics from tragics opera of Mozart even the scene from Don Giovanni....
Yes it does. I've read quite a few books about Salieri. Most of them include his relationship with Mozart but it is not mentioned, whether Mozart knew of this opera. Personally I would assume that he did. Most certainly it would have made it to Vienna, that there was a tremendously successful opera in Paris. At least that was the case when Salieri's 'Tarare' was played in Paris. The excitement was so immense, that Salieri had to compose 'Axur'... but as I said, it is only an assumption.

I just love the finale of this piece. I wonder if Mozart did too? Doesn't this pre-date DonGiovanni by a few years?
