that thing is very slow, not that fuel efficient (compared to other options) and will barely go through anything off road. It loses in every category. (except maybe as a golf cart.
@predator9303 Not a bad choice, but not fuel efficient, and mostly confined to good roads. A gator atv is fuel efficient, and can go just about anywhere. Carries a lot of cargo, too.
My personal experience with this vehicle: My Japanese uncle in the Fukui Prefecture of Japan had one of these vehicles. This was 22 yrs ago when I had stayed with him for a month, and worked for him in his masonry/tile business. We would haul the equipment, bags of cement mix, bricks/stones, etc., in this little truck... and it would take us over some rough terrain to get to our project site. It's a funky lookin' truck, but quite practical.
haha ur the best thing that happend to that guy selling it. What did u end up paying for it, i hope not full price. If so Ive got some bug out dirt to sell you.. even got some bugs to go with it. Ill make u a good deal :)
its got flat tyres,no rego, isn't running, right hand drive etc etc.More like $700.oo would be closer to the mark. You really need a diesel, four wheel drive, "tilt"-cab chassis, with no electronics, that you can put a box or flat tray on the rear of. Oh and uses common tyre sizes that you can get anywhere off almost anything.
lol if u wanna use that for bug out, get some foam filled tires, and move outta toronto area, too many people too crowded just a bad place in general to bug out of period.
Are you thinking this through? What sort of parts availability is there for this vehicle? They aren't that common. You want something that is common so replacement parts are readily available. Also, $7k CDN isn't a great price. RHD? Not optimal in North America.
@NinezeroPlayer ok buy one for $5000 and what is it going to cost to have shipped over here? I think its an ok price for someone that really likes these things. Not my cup of tea, but it is neat none the less.

"Bug out" TO WHERE? You'll have lawless gangs in thousands thanking you for bringing them supplies! Then - "good bye!". Instead establish defendable "safe area" and fully provision it. Unless disaster renders it useless - stay there! I am provisioned for 12 months food, water, guns, and hundreds of items. No need to leave for 12 months. I could not stop a mob but safer there than in woods where thousands will be running wild all with guns.MANY have plan of heading to rural areas. Bad idea!
two probs but cool truck. brob one weels why to small espealyif the roads are fucked. and two is parts you have to get parts shipped cause the dont stalk them hear in northamerica. i recomend just a egular 4X4 truck with good tires and the go nut on re enforcing it and make it bulletresistant how ever thanx for putting it up.
There are dozens of these little truck around my part of the country. Good on gas, carry anything and go anywhere - tried and tested by the Acadian French, and they pound the living crap out of things. I've even seen one with a matching trailer.
They take the abuse of all seasons rural New Brunswick. Real deal war wagons.
personally i would go with something like a ford ranger, get it in a v6 4wd. go faster and carry more, plus you could get deeper into the woods if you wanted/needed to
The center of gravity is actually in the center of the vehicle and they are used up and down the Andes Mountains in South America. Suzuki, Chevrolet, and KIA are the three major manufacturers.
Here in South Africa is a lot of small turks like this one from Asia. Some of the cheap brands from China and India are really shit and unreliable but the Japanese one's are usually really good.
Bro, thats a horrid BOV sorry to say but you need to upgrade to something a whole lot bigger, plus that little toy truck probably cant even drive on a dirt road comfortably imagine off roading..
really, i dont like it. y would i take that when i could get a regular pickup truck for between 2 and 5k which has a higher walls on the rear haul compartment and probably the same gas mileage. i just dont like it
You do know these come in a van 4x4 it's like this but people don't steal your stuff out the back. They do look cool. But if you realy want a good bov go for a Mitsubishi delica if your looking for a van type thing
I would by that instantly.Good choice I hope you bought it.You can upgrade suspension and armor the whole cabin at least also add a bigger fuel tank and reserve one also , water pump, winch, electric tools outlet ac and dc etc etc.If you want some more ideas send me a message.Good luck and thanks for posting.
Bug out vehicles have no computers and shielded electronics. Park it in a shed lined with 1/4 inch thick lead sheets and you might be safe however. When the shit hits the fan the real survivalist prepares firepower only, they are relying on you to supply them with stuff like women food vehicles radios new boots freshly broken in and shiney new kbar knives.Dont kid yourself thinking you are biggest dog on block.
we used those in the u.s. air force, state-side and overseas. in japan you could always tell the new people because they would turn on their wipers instead of their signal when making a turn, cause thats reversed too. thankfully the gas/brake configuration is the same.
where will it get you ? on one tank of gasoline ? power may be out , an emp may have fried the electronics at the fueling stations or in the truck itself . an older diesel car or truck is the ONLY bug out vehicle anyone should be looking into . no computers to fry and fuel can be any filtered oil , just carry a small 12v filter setup...... of you think gasoline will be easy to get after a major event , your kidding yourself
I have the same truck... 92 Carry... bought it in BC last year for $4000... it had 40,000km on it and I have driven 22,000km since.. Works great. mine is 4 speed with HI-L0 for 4x4. It revs quite high and is comfortable at 90kph but will go 110km if you don't mind very high revs. They have to be 15 years old or older to import them. You can buy a 7 of them for around $20,000 (delivered to vancouver) but they need few mods to be legal.. New tires, DOT headlights, center brake light.. Just love it
@weadone yer but keeping it working is the main problem.not many parts stores post revolution methinks.tho the prob with the suzuki s the same ,the less complicated the better, carbs and 8 valves would be alot better in that case ,or derv cos u can run it on loads of fuels.even worse case and they nuke a little you really dont want lots of electronics.
@MrChris1316 i agree about the part stores bud........
but there will be lots of spares lying around attatched to vehicles,
most people don't realise that jap parts can fit diff vehicles.
same with eastern european and italian.
get a parts catalogue from an auto store and you will be able to see how many vehicles your part fits and is used on so you know which abbandoned vehicles to scavange. it can be surprising.
@weadone ,yer i used to do it all the time tho its more true of ur domestic cars and trucks than the euro stuff. sometimes goin thru life with not much cash helps u to become much more resorceful.and in the uk we all broke lol alot of uk rednecks.u got the hollander books at ur breakers that show u alot if im guessing right ur from the us.i think its with jap stuff cos they make different models for each market.no doubt there will be one hell of alot of abandoned motors when it all goes down.
yah am driving one now, but what I have has a passenger seat and full canopy version. (phils) problem includes overheating and some noise and vibration after 60KPH. but this little dude loves being loaded (leafspring underneath) and can be good on a long drive (no aircon though in a sunny country like ours). My bug out and DD at the same time.
It is my favorite car to do anything. I can go even to the trails for hunting. & never betrayed me as American cars, Chinese cars,Hybreds, anyother Japanese car in that comparisons. Trust me, I've driven highends car to the cheapest car. but when you talk about mobility, Fuel efficent, & can go zip thorugh between the accidents on highway. I'll bet money on this car. I've got private jet, Most expensive car on the planet right now. But , when it comes to matter of my life? This is it.

Personally though I drive a Ford Ranger.

personally i would go with something like a ford ranger, get it in a v6 4wd. go faster and carry more, plus you could get deeper into the woods if you wanted/needed to

Those things are all over Korea and are pretty hard core as an off-road vehicle. light, decent power for it's size I don't know about 7k for it
nesbitt615 1 year ago
What is so perfect about it? I'd take a 4WD Ford super cab any day of the week.

You do know these come in a van 4x4 it's like this but people don't steal your stuff out the back. They do look cool. But if you realy want a good bov go for a Mitsubishi delica if your looking for a van type thing

Give me one good reason why this is better than a regular 4x4 pickup truck or SUV?
hermanalleman 1 year ago

I like the way it's open in back. That way it's easier for people to take what they want as your running away . I'm sorry Bugging Out.

these are great little trucks i think the same engine as a motor bike so look for spares.

Bug out vehicles have no computers and shielded electronics. Park it in a shed lined with 1/4 inch thick lead sheets and you might be safe however. When the shit hits the fan the real survivalist prepares firepower only, they are relying on you to supply them with stuff like women food vehicles radios new boots freshly broken in and shiney new kbar knives.Dont kid yourself thinking you are biggest dog on block.
barndler 1 year ago
we used those in the u.s. air force, state-side and overseas. in japan you could always tell the new people because they would turn on their wipers instead of their signal when making a turn, cause thats reversed too. thankfully the gas/brake configuration is the same.
merekstorrgaard 1 year ago
Piaggio does Mini-Trucks I think are similar (Porter? Ouargo?). And you can choose if you want a pickup, a closed one etc.
Panbaneesha 1 year ago
where will it get you ? on one tank of gasoline ? power may be out , an emp may have fried the electronics at the fueling stations or in the truck itself . an older diesel car or truck is the ONLY bug out vehicle anyone should be looking into . no computers to fry and fuel can be any filtered oil , just carry a small 12v filter setup...... of you think gasoline will be easy to get after a major event , your kidding yourself

Just love it

cCcMo42cCc 1 year ago
@cCcMo42cCc yes the landrover is still one of the best packmules about.
i would look for a working defender not a pleasure one,
weadone 1 year ago
@weadone yer but keeping it working is the main problem.not many parts stores post revolution methinks.tho the prob with the suzuki s the same ,the less complicated the better, carbs and 8 valves would be alot better in that case ,or derv cos u can run it on loads of fuels.even worse case and they nuke a little you really dont want lots of electronics.
MrChris1316 1 year ago
@MrChris1316 i agree about the part stores bud........
but there will be lots of spares lying around attatched to vehicles,
most people don't realise that jap parts can fit diff vehicles.
same with eastern european and italian.
get a parts catalogue from an auto store and you will be able to see how many vehicles your part fits and is used on so you know which abbandoned vehicles to scavange. it can be surprising.
weadone 1 year ago
@weadone ,yer i used to do it all the time tho its more true of ur domestic cars and trucks than the euro stuff. sometimes goin thru life with not much cash helps u to become much more resorceful.and in the uk we all broke lol alot of uk rednecks.u got the hollander books at ur breakers that show u alot if im guessing right ur from the us.i think its with jap stuff cos they make different models for each market.no doubt there will be one hell of alot of abandoned motors when it all goes down.

@envirosponsible In the Philippines, that sells for around $3500, I got mine for only a little less than $1900.

yah am driving one now, but what I have has a passenger seat and full canopy version. (phils) problem includes overheating and some noise and vibration after 60KPH. but this little dude loves being loaded (leafspring underneath) and can be good on a long drive (no aircon though in a sunny country like ours). My bug out and DD at the same time.
tinolamartini 9 months ago
@tinolamartini overheating? must be the cylinder head gasket or the cylinder head must be re-faced.

This is it.
