I was there, and the weather was indeed bad.Even if he didnt really play at that one, the show was one of the best. Cant remember if it was actually totally free, think it wasnt, remember passing a sort of passway to it. Anyone remember?
Still one of the best concerts i saw and thanks for uploading the good memories :D
*awesome musician*?? How come he can't play his own song live, and has to use playback a la Britney Spears on TV? Can't he hire six musicians to play with him? He could even hire a seventh one and let him play his part, so he can sit back and relax!
I've plenty of hobbies. It's just silly he's trying so hard pretending to play live... Might have been more fun for him as well to just sit in the audience and hear his own music really loud in a spectacular decor... at least, that's what I'd do... I actually like some of his work, so don't take it too personal, man!
Does anyone actually expect one man to be able to do ALL of this live solo? All the negativity about his performance need to find a hobby. Vangelis is amazing.
In fact, yes this man is very able to do very much by himself... it's because he simply improvise everything in live. Only some dubs have been made of course, to add for example, more acoustic instruments with different recording enviroment. This was indeed not properly live. This concert was simply a show´, but incredible good one... this is too huge and complex concert to be live played but free concert... didn't I read somewhere this was completely free out-door concert???
Actually, it is well documented on various Vangelis websites that the majority of the music at this performance *was* pre-recorded, and he simply played along with it. The choir is live (obviously) as were Jon Anderson's vocals on a later song.
Luckily his instruments weren't switched on! With this weather they would've surely all have short-circuited (pardon my english here). Great playback show!
Whoever hit "thumbs down" on this needs to do some research. It is documented on various Vangelis websites that a great deal of the music at this performance was pre-recorded.

Vangelis would have wanted to play live, but the organisation wouldn't let him...anyway it was a hell of a show, and he is GENIUS.

This is the only show I know of he didn't play live. Was it really the organisation who kept him from playing live?
