You all don't understand the church on what we teach. Just go to a sacrament meeting on a sunday and listen to what the spirit teaches you. You need to read the book of mormon cover to cover to understand it. If a Mormon is honest and sincere, he or she should be willing to admit that the Jesus Christ of the Bible and the Jesus Christ of Mormonism are different.

This is one of the reasons why Mormons have to insist that the Holy Bible became corrupt and that Joseph Smith restored true Christianity. But contrary to Smith and other leaders, the Bible declares of itself that it is PURE, not corrupt. This is the Holy Bible's claim for itself for centuries before the BoH was ever penned.

It is the eighth Article of Faith:

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

Joseph Smith was told by God that it was not completely translated completely. So the parts describing Jesus Christ will be a bit different than how Joseph Smith describes him.

Remember, Joseph Smith SAW Jesus himself!

The Prophets and Apostles of the LDS church have stated this.

We are taught that they are men of God and that any have seen and spoken with God and Jesus.

We are also taught that anything they say in as a Prophet or Apostle of Jesus Christ is divine and can be trusted.

You should check out a book called Our Search for Happiness written by M. Russell Ballard. It is a book meant for nonmembers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to simply help them understand not convert. It would answer your question why on earth would you believe that the Bible, which has lasted centuries, was not translated correctly, but the BoM, a recent development in human history, was? Thanks for the info, Lieb. I've been reading a lot of Bishop Spong lately; he's my new, uh.. "hero" I guess you could say, as far as studying spirituality, etc., is concerned. I'm now convinced God is more than anything we can truly understand, and that *ALL* books (the Bible, the BOM, etc.) were created by men with little if any "divine inspiration". All our rituals, etc., are pointless. It's about spirituality; God is everywhere and part of everything, not some external being.

Watch some of Bishop Spong's lectures on YT. The man clearly shows how absurd we've all been (and are). The Creator of the Universe is not a Methodist, Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, Buddhist, etc., etc... humans made all that stuff up. Duh, that's exactly why. The BoM having only been translated ONCE has a correct translation. Then the bible which has been translated hundreds of times through different languages has a few incorrect translations.

We had a lesson last Sunday about people like you. Satan is doing his best to keep good people from salvation and the only true church of Jesus Christ.

We are taught that Mormons are God's chosen people.

We are also taught that people who die rejecting the true Gospel as restored by the true prophet Joseph Smith, will stay in spirit prison until a generous mormon does a baptism and temple work in their name. Only when that person trapped in spirit prison accepts these works will they be saved

If you think what you've just typed is in any way "Christian", you are more lost than I thought. What about people who called themselves Christian before Mormonism came along? Are you saying, for example, that the early Christians are in Hell now because they didn't have Joseph Smith to point them in the right direction? The Apostle Paul didn't know what Mormonism was. Is he in Hell?

You think a "generous mormon" (a human being, in other words) has the power to "do temple work" and thereby save the soul of a dead human being? There is nothing about "spirit prison" in the entire history of Christianity until Mormonism came along, there are no "works" one human can do to save another human, etc., etc., again, everything you've said contradicts Christianity, clearly proving Mormonism is a non-Christian belief system.
