It's been my view that it would be part of our evolution to follow the lead of the Star Trek honor system and do away with the need for a monetary system. Would William Shatner and Scott Bakula endorse Ron Paul if this was also his vision for the world ?
@aleon1018 It would be an achievement to get to the stage of human development they portray in star trek, getting rid of the worlds social problems entirely. It would require really really radical thinking. Its just not gonna happen.
I boycotted Enterprise thinking that it was going to be a 2nd rate resurection of the series. I never actuallys saw it until now, I just completed the second season, and I must say that it is an excellent addition to the family, and is exactly what was needed to complete the overall story. I love how they're affraid to use the transporter.
They screwed over Scott and Enterprise big time. Right when it was getting it's place. Generations sucked for awhile and soared after it fell into place.
I still don't understand why they can't make an Enterprise movie and Paramount really drove the franchise into the ground. I like the new Star Trek but after the next two, that's the end. They need to create a real Star Fleet Academy with the ideals of the series and maybe we as a humanity WILL be saved after all instead of this evil.
Oh my. Shatner pretty much flipped off Scott Bakula as an actor, and Scott Bakula is acutely aware of it. Wow. I don't like Scott as an actor that much, but that was... actually very believable.
For some reason I think everyone who has had anything to do with Star Trek should know each other. Like they're part of some secret club or something. and of course since I'm a fan I get to be part of the club too.
@IHS7 That's not a trick question if anyone watched star trek. that guy who ends up retarded from some alien is retarded that does the beeping. He is wearing a red shirt. Pike or something.
@yryriza It is a trick question - Jonathan Archer (played by Scott Bakula in the TV series Enterprise) was the first captain of the Star Ship Enterprise. Now if i had asked "Who was the first actor to play a captain..." Then you would have been right.
@yryriza Time for some epic nitpicking! It's a bit misleading to say Hungarian, since 1) national borders fluctuated substantially in the last several centuries, and 2) the Ashkenzim were typically segregated from the ethnicities associated with the national identity, such as Magyar. As of the 1800s, the Schattners (of which I'm one) all came from a village called Kuty in the Galicia region of what is now western Ukraine. Of course, I am ignoring Shatner's other, non-Schattner origins...
@yryriza Sorry--I didn't mean to suggest that *you* were misleading people, even though...that's how I ended up phrasing it. It's just that there's so much more to the story, and I clearly get a little overexcited about Schattner genealogy.
The logo at the end looks like two sperm swimming around an egg lol...I'm stupid...In all seriousness, I love both of these men. I think they both made fine captains in the Star Trek universe.
I'm massively disappointed that EPIX doesn't yet offer their services to the UK, therefore "The Captains" is out of my reach for the time being. Hopefully some time soon it'll appear on YouTube or LoveFilm.
@starscreamaut The good news is that a new series has been commissioned, it's about the USS Phoenix, set 42 years after Star Trek Nemisis, so quite a few possibilities for TNG guest stars. The timeline is from the TNG and not the star Trek re-boot film. The Phoenix's captain, served as a lieutenant under a certain Captain Worf...!
Exciting to see the stars taking the cameras into their hands and then we really get to see them in real life like.. without all of the hollywood hoopla. glad this is real stuff!
The only way I will be able to see this highly anticipated documentary is if it comes out on DVD.....hint, hint.........PLEASE COME OUT ON DVD!!!!! I can't wait to see it!!! Thanks for doing this documentary, Mr. Shatner.....
Bill, i just watched your Captains show, and I must say I never relised the emotional toll that being an actor on star trek was to you guys. In a way I almost wish that you guys never had to go through all that pain especially Kate Mulgrew.. However all I can do is thank all you actors for bringing us something that we will never forget. Something that inspired all of us as kids and adults and will continue to inspire future generations.
Please thank all the Captains and the actors for me
@ThomasTheAlleyCat well ,he is on the heavy side. overweight people do seem to have less wrinkles than skinny people. im not saying that to be mean....just an observation.
@ThomasTheAlleyCat He sure looks like a million dollars, doesn't he? But Thomas is right...as I can attest from experience...heavy people don't show wrinkles like skinny people do. He's still a doll, though.
Scott is awesome, loved him from Quantum Leap to Enterprise. He was great as Captain Archer. Too bad the show ended after 4 seasons. At least that was one more than TOS got, lol
Before the first episode, I figured Bakula had too much of the whiny puppy dog look to be an Enterprise Captain. He actually pulled it off though. He's no Shatner, but I think there's no denying he made the grade.
Scott was fantastic in Quantam Leap and I wish his Enterprise show ran longer, he deserves a lot more credit than he receives. Great Actor! Of course, it goes without saying that William Shatner is a living legend, an immortal of the show business world. Good to see you again Bill, take care!
@demonslayer55555585 It's very sad that they don't seem to care about that at all......If i was them i would do my best to make something extraordinary prior to getting retired.....Perhaps STAR TREK is not so "elegan" for people such as Patrick Stewart but come on guys, we need ya....
@NikKast1981 Totally with you friend! Actually this has to be the first decade that Star Trek is absent...nowhere to be seen! OK! The movie alright! But I didn't care for the actors that much honestly speaking! They just seemed eehh....not where they were suppose to be, this is my personal opinion of course! But again nobody seems to want to make a series! Which is probably due to the fact that most TV-channels want their series to be about Vampires and shitty detective stories!
@demonslayer55555585 Forget about the series my friend, these are old people, they can't do something like that....A Movie however is something they CAN do and they SHOULD do.....The new Star Trek was naturally ment for the new "trendy" generation that's why we didn't like it so much.....To be honest with you i never liked TOS either....But i loved ALL the Star Trek movies along with the crew of The Next Generation...
@NikKast1981 I was talking more about the continuation of the last Star Trek series or new series....a good one preferably! But I agree they should come together and mix something up, it would be like a nirvana for Trekkies all over the world!
@demonslayer55555585 Anything's possible in the world of ST....Lets say 20 years after the Nemesis picard gets called into active service and while on route with the Enterprise F they fall in a black hole or something....Same exact thing happens in the two other timelines and VOILA, all of them together again :)
Its not hard and Paramount should make buckets of cash...
@demonslayer55555585 And don't forget now it's aliens and dead people/zombies along with the detective stories. Scott is excellent in Men of a Certain Age though. I'd love to see something from ST soon.
@NikKast1981 lol in what time period? Shatner died in ST: Generations, and he's not getting younger, so they can't set it back in the Original Series days....... unless he plays someone other than Kirk
It's good to see Scott visiting Bill. Wished that they could've done with the series on "Enterprise" episode where Bill could've played Kirk's father or grand father gor that matter. Or some link from the prequel to the original series for that matter. Glad to see Bill face to face with all caracters of Star Trek. :D
My favorite is a toss up between Picard and Sisco. Sisco is bad ass, but Picard is a Renaissance man. Both are epic. Love all of them though really. Janeway is a bitch, but she gets the job done, and earns respect.
Patrick Stewart was the best, followed closely by William Shatner, Avery Brooks was great also. Kate Mulgrew was really bad and Scott Bacula was the worst captain imaginable
@Maryanchyk Really, you couldn`t imagine a worst one :p?
It`s easy to rag on Archer as a character, when he had no guidelines and directives to follow like the others did. The current crop of navigators are technically better than the ones of centuries past, but they weren`t the ones making mistakes and creating experiences.

so cool to see these two guys together! I'm a big William Shatner fan, and love Scott Bakula from the old Quantum Leap days (great show!!). And Scott's comment asking if Bill's dogs might attack him if he hugged Bill - too funny. Wish you had show the dobermans meeting Scott (I'm also a really big fan of dobermans!)

so cool to see these two guys together!

Wow Scott Bakul's coloring is terrible. His hair is dyed the wrong color and the makeup is also the wrong color.
