You're mainly looking at these races from my point of view. My preferred way to play is with karts and on Automatic drift.

Wow...I played like garbage today. I got 9th place with Baby Peach in the Standard Kart on Manual. Had I chosen Automatic, it might have made a difference..but I doubt it. That was probably the worst case of bad luck I've had out of any of these cups. I practically got flattened and tossed aside in every single one of these races. Then again, that's what I get for choosing a light character.

I think it might have. N64 Bowser's Castle was the worst for me. Every time I was on that wooden bridge, a Bullet Bill slams me out of nowhere and I get knocked into the lava. And this happened on ALL three laps! I think the main reason of my bad luck was due to lack of practice with karts. Plus, I always forgot to look back and see where Bullet Bills were coming from. So now, I'm trying to figure out the secret with karts and how people can be so skilled with them.

With me, I just use Automatic. I use bikes on Automatic much the same as I use karts, though I'm more used to karts being able to control stably in the air.

iirc I fell in the lava twice at Grumble. The first time I was bumped off and the 2nd was due to lightning and somehow I was able to grab 1st (maybe cause its my favorite track in game?). I raced almost flawlessly at N64 Bowser's Castle fortunately.

When riding off a ramp, bump, etc, you hit any of directions on the control pad. To be on the safe side, use the up direction. Its the same direction you must use to "counter" POWs.

I noticed the list dropped from 12 to 11. Then I saw you were booted. That sucked. Sorry it happened to you. We had a case of disconnections yesterday too. The first time, the entire group was disconnected. The 2nd try, only one person was.

I think the d/c was caused by my own problems though. Recently, my computer always seems overwhelmed by invisible programs running and lags HORRIBLY while trying to record. I couldn't get it to start up again to record the other races, so I got mad and rebooted my comp, which might have done something to the connection. After I got d/c'd I chucked the controller into the ground... lol...

Could it be spyware doing this to you? The router I have back at home has disconnection problems, though it turns out that leechers are what's causing it.

Oh gosh I hope not... When I reboot the comp it runs smoothly for a while, then it gets slower and slower, like many programs just randomly opened in the background, one by one. When I restart it with the "Start" option, there is a lot of windows that pop up asking me to end this and that program now or wait until it automatically ends by itself. I think I just described a virus attacking my computer...

Well, at the very least, spyware and adware are more predictable than viruses, since the little rascals make the malware on behalf of someone else.

You can use Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware (or both to clean the computer the best), two free and highly trusted programs that wipe away all the spyware and adware on the computer. However, they're only made for Windows, since nearly all spyware and adware are programmed only for Windows.

It was Lightning that caused me to spin into the lava. I thought that was the case, and I remember KOK fell in with me (1:30). After that, I couldn't catch up. I was pushed back into the lava shortly after the final lap began too.

KOK and I broke away pretty early at Bowser's Castle which was nice. Those Fake Item Boxes at the very last jump were ours. I kept getting single Mushrooms there. I liked that, though I wasn't able to be offensive or defensive. Flash Fire eventually caught up.

The gap was getting wider and wider. I wonder what happened. I knew there was nothing that would allow me to catch up short of a Blue Shell, and each time I got too close, I got hit by something and went back down.

Ah the last two tracks, this is where my bad luck really started to take hold.

It didn't kick in for me until Bowser's Castle. I still managed to take 5th place overall, though it as interesting how Flash Fire dodged all of the Green Shells and I managed to get hit by my own (and no one else did).
