Technically, Finland is not a Scandinavian country (Norway, Sweden and Denmark). It is different historically and linguistically as well as different (as DNA has brought out) biologically. The Finnish come from a specific northern European source that dived itself from the rest. The French came up with the term "Nordic Countries" to show what they do have in common but the Finnish have a uniqueness the separates them from Scandinavia. 5 months late on answering but there you go...
