@lwrpj I did a little extra digging for you and I'm afraid I can confirm my initial suspicion, there are no cheats for the iPad/iPhone version of GTAIII

If you're on the PC, the command is giveusatank followed by chittycittybb (you just type them in from normal gameplay). For console, it requires button presses, can't remember which off the top of my head sorry.

1st attempt - felt into water after crashing with bridge >.> Almost get to Staunton Island

2nd attempt - got into Staunton Island, and made a long roof slide (lol)

3rd - TOTAL FAILURE, though I had more area because I did it from the Staunton... Felt into water

4th - Did this one in town... BAD choice. My Rhino roofed and exploded, and I had wanted level of 4. This made a long chase by police, which ended with me falling into water when in cop car. In mean time of chase, I shot 4 helicopters :D

@Dukstless I found it best to use the bridge on the first island because you can get a long, uninterrupted run up, you don't alert police and don't have cars in the way (obviously only applies if you haven't opened the bridge yet)

I did it on someother place than bridge...

1)Somewhere in city, near that place with Banshee... Not long fly, but ended HIGH above the crusher (it's even used in one mission where is Manana with corpse)

2)Flew over sea from Portland to Staunton Island... Landed at hospital, but Rhino rotated so that it is now vertical (but not roofed)...

In both cases, I went FORWARD, while I shot backward. Just rotate the... "bazooka[?]"... :D

I used to spend hours doing this on my PS2. I actually ran into this on my own. I played the game so much and used cheats and would go on a rampage with the tank. I would fire the turret behind me to go fast. Then I discovered the Flying Car cheat. Then I flew. And did a Barrel Roll. Then I landed on cars. Then I landed on top of a building. Then I got in a helicopter and the game froze.

@mutfer You need a pretty long and unobstructed run up to gain enough momentum. Just drive in a straight line, keep on shooting, and don't try to turn the tank until it is fully airborne. Once you take off, don't stop shooting or accelerating.

By default it is set up to be 4 and 5 on the numpad to turn the turret, and yes you can fly through the ghost town with it, i'll put another video up when I have the time

Its easy to fly tank all you need to do is put in flying cars cheat then just go to a long runway or road with no traffic and just aim cannon backwards and shoot until you start flying

then just slowly turn don't do sharp turns.

You'd have to use a capture card for the PS2 yeah, but I film my videos on the PC using an application called FRAPS.

Not shooting anyone, you have to shoot to maintain momentum otherwise you fall out of the sky

hahaha i do it too and it's so funny. I try to land on buildings and get higher and higher... one time I was so high that I was higher then the clouds XD.

If you land in a building you can get a glitch. the heli will fly into the building (weird)

chittychittybb cant say that's is flying cars cheat. that is low gravity cheat because the cars don't fly (tanks can if shooting just like you seen in video)...

It isn't a low gravity cheat, because it only has an effect on cars, tanks, and the plane. When the player is on foot it has no effect, and for it to be a low gravity cheat it would have to effect everything
