It's not about the drugs or alcohol, it's more of enjoying youth and being able to do things that change over time. Each stages has their perks, it's really up to each person to cherish it. I just had to disagree with your statement of adulthood being so "structured" because some adults still act naive and young not wanting to let go of their youth which is where we learn how to grow up.

All I meant was as time goes by you realize and experience more things which leads to adulthood but it does not necessarily occur at the same pace for each person. Youth is the time where we usually progress from complaining about not getting a lollipop to eventually letting it go. just my 2 cents :)
