  • You should be happy there is some development. When I was young, nobody wanted to live or go to Kauai. It just had mostly old plantations, dirt roads, muddy roads, etc. If there are million dollar homes, that means Kauai is very desirable. I like Kauai. I wanna go there.

  • SO beautiful! cannot wait to spend my New Years on the gorgeous isle! got an amazing deal on a condo with the help of Kauai Vacation Rentals!

  • Aloha I used to work on the pride of america ship and had a good time in kuai but most of the locals are a bunch of jerks they like to beat up on crew specialy if we hang around the ku kui grove and palakapi beach and dukes I would hate to live there just cuz of the locals

  • This video is breathtaking! Hawaii truly is a paradise! I could really use a getaway about now! I'm seriously going to start packing my bags and give Kauai Vacation Rentals a call!

  • My wife and are are coming for tow weeks at the end of October. We are so looking forward to gridlock and shitty beaches. We were so happy to find a place like this video portrays. Kuddos to this video. We love raw sewage.

  • Not only is this all true the reefs on the south shore are disappearing at a alarming rate due to these subdivisions and corn and soybean fields not controlling their runoff, idiots stepping and touching coral while snorkeling, oils from roadway's washing into the ocean.Wake up people if you love it so much than take care of it!

  • ok i get the point that ur trying to make but u dont have to bash kauai for all of this. Im from kauai and im a boarder at kamehameha schools so i think i know what im talking about. please it is not even like this in the video, trust me there is much more to do and see than this garbage.

  • @seattlehawkins haole

  • @BoomShakaKaka Bootleg samoan

  • We were there in 2008 and drove the whole island. There was NO traffic. What the heck is this video???? We are going back in March, 2012 because it is sooooo UNDEVELOPED! Idiot!

  • Terrific video ! ! ! -- Tourists fuel the destructive development - and could care less about any other concepts in life beyond having fun. The developers make money off them, could care less about anything else either, so between the two - they’re an unstoppable consumptive machine.

  • The thing which makes a place a paradise is the overabundance of nature and the lack of humans. Once that balance is tipped in favour of the people, the paradise becomes a dream and the reality dies. The people of the island should have banned together long ago to stop the development.

  • then mandate no expansion in Kapaa or Poipu at freeway entrances

  • @Daddyo94521 we dont even have any freeways

  • Sad story. My wife and I traveled to kauai as Hoales with a heart. We never stayed in the populated areas. Always enjoyed Princeville area. Hanalei driveing 10 miles an hour. As the years went by we went from a set of stairs brought to the plane. To individual gates at the Airport. We remember Eggberts in Lihue. The hurricane Iniki devastated the island financially. But they've rebuilt and expanded. Unfortunately they need to now build a freeway. at least from kapaa to airport and poipu.

  • i live in kauai, and this is not true,do not let ppl fool you .kauai is a real paradise and it is nothing like this video.pls come visit and see it for yourself once you come here you will always come back. i love Kauai.

  • @anahita50 That is very true! I've been there twice as a teenager, and I'm taking my partner back in October! I think of this beautiful paradise every day!!

  • @anahita50 would you recommend anywhere on Kauai in particular? I'm looking for somewhere a bit more isolated than what is featured here :\

  • This sucks.

  • Many of these commenters don't seem to understand that the producer of this video is trying to save Kauai from auto-oriented and place-less suburban sprawl and not to keep visitors away.

The problem is that Kauai is not special. Auto-dependent suburban sprawl is destroying much of the United States. I have much of the same feelings towards all the beautiful citrus groves that are being mowed-down for tract homes, big-box stores, and warehouses in my California city.

  • This video is so bullshit... i went, no traffic, no problem... some locals were a little pissy but its like that everywhere... made a local Hawaiian friend, so its give and take. Stay on the south coast if you can near poipu, the area is pretty relaxing and no traffic and stuff. beaches are great there and there's some fantastic restaurants near the poipu shopping center..

  • @jazzplayer9

I live on Kaua`i and the traffic is a mess. There have been times I have had to give up trying to drive to Lihue, just turn around and go home.

  • To the maker of this video. If you are going to do a video on Kauai, learn to pronounce it correctly.

  • @kathysladek

Where are you from? Actually the word Kaua`i is pronounced correctly on this video. There could have been just a little bit more of a guttural stop between the a and the i (a`i) and a slight more emphasis on the "u" but it passes for me a life time Kaua`i resident.

  • Wow.....this is some BITTER shit.

I cant wait to visit beautiful Kauai.....I'm sure there is some bad anywhere you look, but I think the good in Kauai will probably outweigh it by a million times.

Im sure the locals, are the same as anywhere as well. Treat people with respect, and they generally treat you the same.

I'll post video of MY Kauai experience when I get back....I bet it will be a whole lot different than this crap.

    Aloha to all

  • lol bs much? i know people who live there... this is total bs

  • P.S. Please come! Just don't forget to go HOME! Mahalo and Aloha! :D

  • @MistahRockinSteady42 As a haloe I resent that!

  • ATTENTION VISITORS!!! The maker of this video was one of those "Haole's" that came to the island with the "I'm inferior! Hear me roar" attitude and got the short end of the stick in an encounter with a fed up "Native". He took the lesson personal and left with a bitter taste in his mouth and decided to make a video in retaliation. MORAL OF THE STORY: Come here roaring like a lion, get shipped back home crying like a pussy... ! E Komo Mai! Come Belong! *Wink* ;)

  • @MistahRockinSteady42 I agree. Why would semi-native Hawaiians mess with tourists, cause they didn't buy their fruit and the tourist bitched about the natives being greedy? No way, the tourists -what ever race he was- is irrelevant, he probably had a "I'm superior" attitude and wasn't logical enough to argue with an un friendly hawaiian.... That's sad. He came all that way to make a enemy when he should of made a friend. Peace Hawaiian brothers, I hope to join you as family when I move there.

  • @MistahRockinSteady42

Actually that is not true. The person who made this video lives here, is not a "he" is not a haole (I know her). Also she is dead right about the traffic in Kapa`a. Its a freekin mess. I don't know about the fecal therapy but what i do know that is not mentioned on the video is much of the island has been closed off. Some of the wonders of the world, for example, Waipahe'e slide is now cut off to residents by expensive land owners.

  • made by a dumb ass haole that thinks they own the land and is trying to scare away the rest of the haoles so they dont have competition.....you live on an island if you cand handle the traffic move to the mainland........

  • This video sucks so bad. I went there and the place is awesome! too bad this video makes people run from it

  • Kauai was the most beautiful place I ever visited. I got a pretty cool video.

  • Nasty video but it did get it's point across .I'm booked and paid to go there in July , mixed emontions after watching this. I guess I won't get to experience much Aloha on this part of my trip.

  • WTH ?

  • Clean up your roadsides and plant some freakin tropical foliage you bums!! Most of the roadsides look like construction zones. Bare dirt, ugly scrub and heavy machinery parked on the roadside is the view you see. The beach parks look 3rd world and ugly ironwood seems to be the only tree that grows in abundance and it doesnt even look tropical..This is called a tropical paradise? Work on it , its a mess in so many places!

  • Horrible video

  • My grandparents own a time share in Kauai. I'm 11 and I love going there!

  • The islands of the South Pacific are much nicer. Kauai cant compare to Moorea, Bora Bora, Rarotonga and a host of others. Kauai has some very pretty areas but generally it lacks the lush, green tropical appearance of many of the South Sea islands. Im still disappointed to see the ugly bulldozer scared roadsides are still there. No effort seems to have been taken to beautify the roadways. It really detracts from the drive.. Where is the garden island you advertise?

  • I guess those of us who have been visiting since 1977 should have kept quieter than we did."If you love Kauai visit Maui. Have shocked by some of the thoughtless developement such as the cutting of the trees in Koloa. And too much developement in Poipu.remember it is overdue for a Hurricane.Maybe that would scare away these greedy developers. Remember how long it took to rebuild the resort next to the Sheraton and Plantation??

  • We were just there in Dec. loved it, family had a great time. This was high season and the island was mostly uncrowded and friendly. This guy is nuts.

  • I first came to Kauai in 1971, when there was about 35,000 people on the island. Got a job at the Kauai Museum. That's when Princeville was starting. Phase 2 was to build condos in the Hanalei Valley! I worked with Save Our Surf and wrote an article for the Garden Island newspaper. I was only here for 6 months but always kept a special place in my heart for the island. 40 years later, I'm back on Kauai for 9 years. I've supported such things like community gardens. Fight Capitalism!

  • The Guy speaking lives or lived on Kauai. He is a watch dog and activist on Kauai he is always on the local tv station. Keeping the people on wats up. The traffic got bad after Mayor Kunimura promoted the Island with mainland commericals about 1986. I moved there in 84 and the Island had only 1 stop light. The parking is great like he says. No meters on the island except at the State buliding.

  • Hmm... Sad. :(

  • HAHAHAHASAHAHAHAAHAH I LOVE U VOICE OVER GUY!!

  • Beautiful yes, and it is one of those places I feel at home, but the problems are increasing - over-development has already begun!

  • what a moron!

  • This video has a good point, but it has disgusting parts, dead air, and cynical. I do not like this.

  • "Get off our land!" That's tantamount to an American Indian standing in the middle of Times Square shouting the same thing. Just because the Polynesians landed in Hawaii and squatted hundreds of years ago, doesn't give them the right to reclaim lands that have been legally purchased by the now rightful owners. Get a job and purchase your own parcel of paradise.

  • HAWAIIAN PARKOUR - MY CHANNEL

  • True Dat...

  • i was born an raised on kauai and theres alot more to it than this, but the tourists, THEY WILL NEVER KNOW!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I went there! and it was awesome!!! this vid confuses me :(

  • yes, kauai is over developed and traffic sucks big time in Kapaa. But the majority of the people are very friendly to others, especially tourists because they know that's who pays their pay checks. I wonder, if Kauai sucks as much as you're trying to portray, why are so many developers chosing to do business there? And why do the tourists continue to come? It's because Kauai, with all its faults, is still a wonderful and beautiful place to be.

  • Without tourism here in kauai.. it would have no reputation at all.. The states admire how the beauty of kauai is compared to the state where its soo cold and snow.. they'd rather live in kauai than here in the state...

  • haha its funny cuz most of the locals are either from japan, china, or philippines and either half of them.. the person who mentioned tourist leaving.. well how about them japan people? china? philippines? why dont they go home too.. go back japan.. get off the island....

  • @DedZero Because they came here first?

  • everyone knows theres more to Kauai than what this nuts sarcasm is trying to do. you will note, he leaves out -ALL- main reasons for being there.

did you see the pay check he took after over-dubbing this junk and filling up his gas tank? think for yourself and watch out for those like this, who try to tell you how to think!

  • just be glad we let you live there ;)

  • WHITE BANKERS SUCK!!

  • I planning on visiting kauai but i think i will pass now

  • CHECK KAUAI HERE

  • i smell some sarcasm in this movie, anyway i live on the other side of the world so i don t care

  • Kauai is the most beautiful place I have ever been to!

  • It sucks but its really not as bad as oahu and the big island oahu is LA on the beach they have a building limit in kauai but sad

  • sad

  • So sad to see this happening. We love Kauai and visit all the time. I hope our visits aren't contributing to the destruction of this beautiful land. We take special pride and care of the land when visiting, but we are guilty of driving a car that adds to the traffic. Wish there were some way around it.

  • this is horrible. Too much American crap! What a shame to have ruined this island.

  • Kauai is still the least developed Island of the big Islands. It is the most rural. I was there last year and the place is very rural. It had a small town feel when in the cities.

  • i lived on kauai for over 35 years, met a guy and now am a yooper :-) i think this video very sarcastic. they do not grow sugar any more on kauai so tourism is needed to run the county. but they do not need more buildings...these are just for visitiors because no local could ever afford...glad i bought land in 79 so my kinds (born on kauai) have a place to live. they do not have to leave because they cannot affor the outrageous rent. they do need bigger roads to accomodate the increase in cars.

  • we were there in Feb. 2010 and did experience the traffic in Kapaa but we still enjoyed the island...It is heart breaking to see that progress will be taking over...

  • I was there in 1979. It's sad to see the development. I wish we could designate the whole island a state park and stop all development. People, if we develop every beautiful place on earth, where will we go to get away from it all? We need some places to visit for vacations and then GO HOME.

  • dont live in hawaii!!!!!!visit than leave!!!!!!!!!

  • you know whats funny, most people who get mad at haoles and tourists on kauai are fillipinos whos parents just immigrated from the phillipines and crowd up all the houses in lihue, so yeah, lolfail you so called "locals"

  • I love Kauai!!! But this video makes sense, too much over-development!!!!!!!!! The island is beautiful without a Wal Mart!!!!!

  • Well, I love this island, but you nailed it, my man. Too many OTHER folks love it too, and it can not sustain this tremendous influx of haoles like me. Come and visit, stay a few weeks, and then go back home. Leave the land to the natives, as it was intended to be.

  • To all you idiots that think Hawaii needs tourism. Hawaii was a completely sustainable sovereign nation before the missionaries came, and it could return to that. In fact Hawaii's primary source of income less than 50 years ago was sugar cane. The only reason the local government puts money into tourism is because it is such easy money. The average tourist spends 244.3 per day with 607,709 visitors in the month of march.

  • Ya, if I was Hawaiian Id be sad seeing everything turned into real estate for sale....so who owned the land before the haoles buy into a resort? Is it sold by Hawaiians or what? Can someone tell me? Seriously, I want an answer....it really is like anywhere else..like here in vancouver and eastward..more people, more projects, more money...it never ends does it? sigh.

  • Damn, y'all are mad at the wrong people. Tourism is not to blame for over development on Kauai. Don't get me wrong I'm from Kauai, born and raised in Kekaha, but without tourism Kauai's local economy would go to shit. Worse than it already is. We need tourists bottom line, so be nice. It's the multi million dollar Real Estate Agencies that buy out "OUR" local government officials. Think about that before you start blaming haole's and shit. And tourist's, please pick up your trash at the beach...

  • It's sad we cannot live in harmony with the environment and with each other.

  • I've been all over that island. Just over a week I spent driving the island and snorkeling it. I never had any traffic issues. But anyways, tell me how Kauai would sustain itself without the financial support of tourists? I understand there are natives, if you're that native there's still Niihau. Seriously, if you're a Hawaiian native, just move to another island if you don't like Kauai. There are lots of people on this planet, and the population increases exponentially. This is THE getaway.

  • I cant wait to move there :D

  • you are soooo funny, love it love it..

  • see you soon

  • And visiting Kauai can be beneficial if done in the spirit of the preservation of the mana. When I visit, I don't rent a car. I stay at the cheapest places, and all I do is surf. Ono to da max and no footprints left behind!

  • Same story, only worse, in Colorado. We natives are basically being chased out. Some of the people moving here are from Hawai'i of all places. The problem isn't the people. The problem is the developers. They are leeches and should be put out of business. If you need a new county developer, I would be happy to end development on Kauai. My native home is already a lost cause.

  • builders tear shit up in oregon too. and they are all sorts of races. I would be willing to bet there are plenty kauains making monye off the "raping of kauai" greed breeds ignorance as ignorance breeds hate. its the same anywear you go. a few greedy jerks mess stuff up for lots of folks.

  • Touriism sucks...save kauai!

  • that guy looks like president bush.

  • I will be in Kauai soon. It is a great place. I will be staying on the beautiful north shore!

  • kauai sucks welp hope this helps

  • I get the inflection "Welp" (fold hands behind head) "Hope that helps" Fukin funny ! :)

    bonermax for kauai city council!

  • @smallboner u suck u wish u grew up in a place like hawaii people like you who make those kind of coments are JELLOUS! mad with your self because your a average stupid haole. when you read this picture your mom sucking a big fat hawaiian dick! better check your breaks too sucker.

  • so im guessing i shouldnt be planning a Kauaian vacation?

  • @Bryan711117 I GUESS SO! stay home!

  • or go to belize, costa rica, cuba,

  • @leaualorin Lovely comment by an illiterate retard!

  • Thanks for the info. This haole is gonna pack his bags and move to Kauai TODAY!!!!!

  • Yes, funny thing is a white guy stole the Kilohana plantation inKauai he makes millions off it. That was the queen's summer visiting home once. F@cked up he owns it. the food sucks by the way

  • I need to clarify my previous comment. I think that the overdevelopment and pollution on Kauai is truly sad and needs to stop! But you just can't take the island to yourself and shut the rest of the world out which is what I got from this vid.

  • I felt bad for the Hawaiians because of how your land was stolen so long ago. Well that was until I saw this.. I mean come on, you really want your land to yourself in this day and age? To kick the rest of the world out? Well here's a newsflash for you, there's not a single place on earth like that so why should you get special treatment?!?! You need to stop bitching and deal with the modern world! !!

  • your as asshole...go read a book and learn something.

  • This comment should read;

You're an asshole, Go read a book and learn something.

    (You're getting "your and you're " mixed up.....that will be all !

  • Hawkins... Some of the native females are very cute though... They're not all the N word

  • After watching this video I kind of feel sad for the natives. They are right, the white man is stealing their land and violently raping our planet!

  • you are right about the white man stealing the land from the native kauians.

  • Who said they were white? Sounds like a little bit of racism on your part my friend. Let me educate you on a few facts. Whites are a minority in Hawaii. There are more asians (mostly japanese) than white people. Another fact you may not know is that this raping of the land isn't a one sided affair. It's not just a bunch of haoles doing the dirty deeds here. There's a lot of very greedy Hawaiins in high places who are playing a very integral part in making this happen.

  • Kauai, stop bitching come to cali where the real land is threatened. btw i was there this summer by poipu beach.

  • This is pretty disturbing if its actually true... I'm planning on visiting Hawaii in the Summer of 2010... I was thinking either Oahu or Maui... Can someone give me advice ? Where is the best place to go in Hawaii that is not overcrowded with people and no traffic jams ? Please let me know... my email is Bluponi--at--aol--dot--com

  • nihau and Kauai are pretty descent, this video is a joke

  • This video is not a joke. I just moved from there after living there for 24 years. This video is understated if anything. Who the hell are you cuz you know nothing!

  • So you're advocating people not moving there while you obviously moved someplace else. Shouldn't you stay in Kauai ? I mean, if you're gonna have this "keep your ass where you belong" kind of attitude then shouldn't you practice what you preach?

  • go to kaua'i! just got back. it'll blow you away. traffic is bad, yes, but you have the beaches almost totally to yourself....

  • On our first trip to Hawaii, we decided to go to Maui instead of Oahu. That was the best decision we made. Oahu, I was told by our Triple AAA agent is more 'touristy'. We wanted to see the real Hawaii & not another city like S.F., so Maui is your best bet. Go to Makena Beach & the waterfalls on the Road to Hana. We stayed for 5 days. Have fun.

  • are u white?

  • Yes, Hawkins, I'm white... I'm also in Seattle... LOL

  • thank you to everyone for your input ! I really appreciate it

  • it was like that today -- NOT fake!

  • erm.. actually... this isn't the impression i got of kauai... fake!

  • wow ... this isnt even what its like here.. all of it is totally fake

  • You are full of shit. This video is right on and not at all fake. I lived on Kauai for 24 years and watched it go downhill just as this video says!

  • didn't even relize it was that bad on Kauai. It looks like maui but I got to say there really isn't that bad traffic here...yet. I am pissed about Makena too. People don't really care though especially the new generation "locals". I am not fromhere but I do feel the pain of the people, as this is actually occuring everywhere at this point. Good Luck to all of you and PEACE

  • Ive lived on the west side of Kaua'i my whole life and although we dont see too much development on this side i still see it on the other side. I love Kaua'i the way it is and all the overdevelopment is killing its beauty. That goes for all the other islands as well. To understand our anger, you have to have grown up in the lifestyle we have. Yes, with time comes change but sometimes the change isnt always good.

  • If you want to keep Kauai in its natural beauty, why do you allow your politicians to give building permits to all these evil developers ?

  • Exactly. They elect the people who are fucking them. Developers are in business to make a living wherever that may be. They don't make the laws. They develop where they're allowed to do so. I don't mean to make it sound as if I don't sympathize somewhat because I do. However, these people all wield the power of the vote. Quit whining and start kicking some asses out of office. People who whine and do nothing are the worst of the bunch.

  • This video tells the sad truth of overdevelopment !!!! Please do something -write county council attend meetings,Help save the beauty we have right now before it becomes another Maui!!!!! A concerned resident

  • Time and time again the local people of our island have to put up with the short sightedness and lack of aloha of our beloved Kauai County Concil and the Planning Commission. If this video keeps their pockets empty more power to them. Don't listen to those haoli who dis this video I can tell already they have no heart in this beautiful island. If can, please make one of the raping of Kokee. Mahalo for this great work. The people of Kauai at last have a voice. Keep up the good work.

  • I was in Kauai this August. This video is CRAP!!! There is definatly too many housing projects that seem to be going up. But that is something the people need to deal with thru government. And the people on the island have a right to be pissed. Did you listen to the man they tryed to make look like an ass? They are plowing over hillside trees for more f'n housing! That would piss me off too. And the "fact" of 5 people/ day missing flights... those are people being dumb tourists. LEAVE SOONER!!!

  • You are full of shit! I just moved from there for the very reason in this video. Traffic any time of day anywhere on the island. And the people that miss there flight are normal people who get caught in the traffic. You really don't know what your talking about!!!

  • Not true at all. During any normal rush hour yes the traffic is bad. I don't deny that. But seriously, anyone who missed a flight on this island is just too dumb to leave early enough to make it on time. I was all over the island and didn't have one issue with traffic besides in the morning. And if I wanted to be some place in the morning, I LEFT EARLY! It works that way any where you go/ live. It's probably better you moved since you can't handle a simple thing like traffic anyway. KAPAA RULES!

  • Nah, Waimea Rules. GO BIG BLUE!!

  • @stormengine777

Well maybe it dose. IDK, I was only there for a week. So then I geuss... Go Big Blue!

  • Waimea is not that bad, Kapa'a for sure though.

  • wow!this video is so ridiculous.i lived there for 6 years.kinda true about the locals.but traffic isnt that bad. NO COME KAUAI.KEEP IT KAUAI IT!!!!!!

  • BS. I lived there for 24 years and this video is right on!!!

You are in traffic any time of day anywhere on the island period!!

  • I've lived on Kauai for about a year and a half and still travel there once a month for couple of days. The traffic is bad, but not as bad as the video shows. It's mostly BS. As for the development ....what development? All the people on Kauai know that there are more businesses that close down than new developments. Thousands of gorgeous new units...it's not gonna happen. I love this island...and miss it every day (Currently live on Maui).

  • this is a mean-spirited and cynical video. but it is pure B.S. we just spent 8 days in Kauai and loved Kapa'a. We did not spend 25% of our time there by any means. What a load of crap. This person obviously has an ax to grind...Kauai is beautiful and you WILL enjoy your vacation there. 68,000 people living there. It's awesome and super low key. Try coming to California with our 36 million people. This guy is an uneducated loser who hasn't gotton out much. LOL

  • We just got back from there. Beautiful island! Traffic is only alittle slow/bad during rush hour. Go and visit. We're thinking of moving there we liked it so much!!!

  • OK, so you can call me a Haole. Our family visited Kauai in 1999, 2004, 2006, and 2009. There is a sign entering Koloa Town from the tree tunnel side "Aloha Come Again". We would see that sign on the way to the airport after our final Camp House Grill meal.

Well, Camp House Grill is gone and so is most of the Aloha we treasured. The trampling of this precious land has soured the spirit of the people.

We hope the land will be restored to you one day and we always welcome you to our home.

  • wow, yah my mom used to be a cook there at camp house...too bad it closed down

  • I was stationed on Kauai from 1998 to 2001 , while in the USCG. I remember it being a beautiful place and the traffic wasnt that bad. Either this video is a con, or things do change over time.....

  • natives? there is no originals the first ones who landed migated from the Tahiti area. plus rascist remarks don't help matters,,,while I agree the greedy builders need to take better care and stop the over building this happens all over..Hawaii is beautiful and should be respected..God made a slice of heaven on earth so show it respect.

  • I had to laugh at this video...made by someone who doesn't want anyone else to come here..I've lived her for a year and although it does get back up occassionally...it's nothing that bad. Go on any blog and you will see that Kauai is an amazing place to live....don't believe everything you see!

  • @FAIRYBLUE1 man im planning a trip to kauai, for vacations its anythig interesting????? im 23 y old

  • @WeaskNsta You can bukakke on a queer at boy boy hair salon

  • Never move to Kaui i made the mistake the place is way overrated worst Island of Hawaii the locals need something to do besides cry all the time they say show respect that all I give but they to hard headed Mahos There is better places in this world than that little rock of hell

  • good point, kaui is getting to mad up.

  • dafaf

  • Couldn't believe my eyes... was there in the early 80's... overpopulation... stop breeding!!!

  • Thank you for giving reason for more HAOLES like you to not come here. You mock our heritage, i would love to know where your from, and then nit pick. You should come back and make one youtube video of yourself catching cracks from the locals.

  • That's why I only travel to Oahu because I expcet that place to be busy. I'll be heading there next weekend and I like to stay right in the heart of Waikiki. Busy doesn't bother me because when I'm relaxing in Hawaii I don't bother driving.

  • Haoles Ruin everything. The worst kind of Haole is the ones who move here and tell the locals "don't you dare call me haole, I have every right to be here. Then two years down the line they think they local and turn around tell other haoles and even some actual locals to get off "THEIR" land. So dumb

  • if you focus on the bad things of ANYTHING it will look bad you negative person

  • pretty funny bra! sounds like another person that moved there-"discovered it" and now wants to close it to others joining him.

You see this on Maui, Kauai a lot. Mainlanders "find" the islands and then realize they should be the only ones to enjoy it. The Sierra Clubbers are historically the worst...close it! So I can enjoy it!

This attitude is what killed the super ferry and destined our islands to only air travel for another 30 years.

  • well am trying to move there in couple of months , do you think i will have a descent job ???

  • i was there last month ... they need the lil corporate bullshit they got... man if u need a toothbrush Kmart, if you need a book x30 the price borders books, lol ... kauai is the shit.

  • No matter which island you visit, please, please, do not take a helicopter ride. They are abusing the locals by flying directly over their residences at low altitudes from sunup to sunset.

  • the thing is, where would the islands economy be without development??? what jobs would there be? I spoke with locals who worked at the hotel and little stores and they are praying for more visitors. they say its super expensive to live and they need more people spending money there.

  • I just got back as well and have to say that I did not experience any of the traffic they spoke of. i rode a bike all the way down the beach path from the kauai sands hotel and there was barely anyone on the beach. it took me only 20-30 minutes to get to prncvlle. without tourism there is no economy buddy. believe me i dont like the littering that comes with tourism, however I have complete respect for the island and embraced my time there. i understand the concern of overdevelopment too.

  • anyone who thinks colonialism isnt an on going project in Hawaii just needs to view some of the comments attached to this video. Let this be a wake up call for all the people of Hawaiian descent to understand the situation and predicament of American occupation. time to reorganize our lives to resist the ongoing infiltration of American values, interests and abuse. Time to understand tourist as uninvited destructive pests who no nothing of the history, context and situation that is Kauai.

  • Dont worry my man, another huricane will blow thru and level all those eyesores. I visited that incredible island when it was pristine. Im sorry that people dont understand what you lost. you have to live some place for a long time to see how over- development destroys it.
