But.... This is like building a house on sand .... it's gonna fall down. Now I'm not saying that Hillsong is wrong for doing this, I don't know their reasons, it's even possible that they regret doing this version. All I know is that as a worshiper of the King of Kings, Those people that are leading in worship have to have a clean heart and worship in spirit and in truth. Who is right??? God and only God knows the answer we can speculate and criticize until we are blue, but we are then
I couldn't believe it. I spoke to the pastors and I showed them a song by the for-mentioned group that sounded very similar and the pastors agreed that it was a bad idea to change the song because of the similarities and the rest of the group used this very song as an example.
In my kids church most of the worship group wanted to change Tell the world and they tried a riff that they had been used by Youth Alive I think. I'm the bass player and when I arrived at the practice they we practicing this new version, I though why is the worship team playing black Sabbath or some other band like that. I later found out that it was the new version of Tell the world.
a mi me gusta michael jackson, pero no se puede mezclar lo cristiano con lo pagano, mucho menos en una iglesia , hay que tener mas reverencia ante Dios, sino q sigue luego?? take it all with justin biever song??
First of all, all music is of God - since he created it. In this instance it is being used to glorify God and while the particular riff may be derived from a secular song, it is being used in a context that brings glory to God
When it comes to praising God it is all about the person's heart. You can be singing the most Christian song ever written and not bring glory to God because of what is in your heart.
One more thing that I don't prefer putting an MJ loop into a worship song is that when teams like Hillsong do this kind of music, some other worship teams use it as a license for them to do it too. It is not right. It adulterates something that must be presented as pure and holy. I still love Hillsongs. Even as Christians, we can still commit mistakes. But I know, this was not intended to damage our belief in worship. Let's take it easy on them. Remember, we weren't judged. We were forgiven.
@kickdawson I am calm... thanks for the concern. Maybe my comment was just birthed out of a really high concern. I love Hillsong and this doesn't change the reverence I have always associated with them. I am not a conservative Christian either. Maybe I was just a little too concerned about immature young people who would "remix" their praise and worship songs with secular tunes. I love rock, r&b, and even hiphop. We always have concerts in our church with such genre. An acquired liking myabe.
@mahalkew Yes, you are too concerned. Though Gospel is strict, you gotta see the bigger picture of this event and I'm sure God is there, guiding every single musician, and as a worship musician, the main aim is to bring people to be connected to God and I'm sure they know it.
I love Hillsong music... but when a michael jackson music is mixed in, i don't think I would appreciate it. I know most of you guys say that there's nothing wrong because it is aimed at worshiping God but here's the thing. I will not use an unclean spoon to bring food to my kid. Likewise, I won't use unclean songs to bring Him glory. In the past there were Christians who said "RocknRoll was for sinners"... Well we are all tasked to redeem the arts. Or at least redeem the music. But Not the song.
Droff is so awesome and a big role model... I wish i had the talent that god has given him. Oh well i still praise god with my guitar just dont sound that good :P
@dansigfried it is not a michael jackson song it is a hillsong united song but hillsong dont want to do the same solo so nigel is like well lets throw in the beat it riff and it sounds awesome :)
@dansigfried You sound like the people who used to say that Rock and Roll is for sinners. God's presence is with you always if you have Jesus as your savior. Using that riff is not a sin dude. LET EVERYTHING GLORIFY GOD (Even MJ riffs)
@dansigfried POSSIBLE... All that people didn't come just to sing song but they gather to Worship God!... There are RANDOM ways of worshiping God... You can Shout Praises, Dance like crazy (Just like what David did), Kneel and worship... As long as you are doing all those things to Bring back the Glory to God... God is there, Smiling to His sons who knows how to worship... ,Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them...
the judge and that is not a good place to be. we should be tearing down strongholds not building them!!!

@mahalkew it is the lyrics that makes the song pure or not. Everything is created by God. It's all His'

Sinceramente eu não entendi a intenção do Hillsong tocando beat it numa igreja... achei equivocado, e demasiado comercial. Me decepcionei.

Definitely not a Michael Jackson song. Even if it was thou, God could still show up.
It's not who wrote it or why they did, it's about why you're singing it and who you're singing it for.

Do you believe that God's presence was there, even when they were singing a Michael Jackson's song?
