  • beautiful waltz ziehrer s music is fantastic and comparable to any strauss waltz or austrian composer . He obviously didnt have the same publicity as strauss but i believe he produced more waltzes than they did very prolific but for some reason ziehrer s music was kept in the shade . I only heard of him when i bought andre rieu live at vienna dvd last year its lovely music , thank you waldteufel78

  • I don't understand why people want to spoil their listening by make comparisons, especially when the music is as enjoyable as this. - John Austin, Australia

  • It's not so much a case of one composer being "better" than another as it is that they wrote in different styles. Ziehrer's music has a certain swagger to it that one won't find in Johann Strauss. That, of course, is easily explained as Ziehrer was in the military and Strauss was not. Anyhow, that's my position on the Strauss vs Ziehrer debate - take it or leave it. If anyone can find and post them, Franz Lehar (also a former army bandmaster) wrote a number of fine military marches.

  • He is the real KING OF WATZ!

  • This is definitely one of Ziehrer's best compositions. So many sweet melodies, and they flow so easily. The music is infectious, stimulating and just makes you happy!

  • Bellissimo, peccato poco conosciuto.

    Uno dei + valzer viennesi.

  • Thanks for making this available. I'd never heard of Ziehrer before and his music deserves a hearing. I take exception, however, with the person calling this better than Strauss. Many Strauss waltzes are better than this one, pleasant as it is. It's ridiculous to think, for example, that Brahms would have signed Madame Ziehrer's fan with the opening bars of this and the inscription, "Unfortunately not by Johannes Brahms," the way he did for Strauss's wife regarding the "Blue Danube Waltz."

  • Az egyik legszebb keringő amit valaha hallottam.

  • The best one: JOSEF STRAUSS!!!

  • Valzer stratosferico! Lo adoro!

  • For me is better than Strauss. This is the most beautiful waltz that I have heard in my life.

    BELLE, BELLO, WONDERFUL

    Ziehrer THE BEST

  • well, i discovered Ziehrer in Vienna during a ball, and, to be honest, his waltzes are really nice to hear... and to dance!!

Componists like Ziehrer, Hellmesberger Jr were, during their time and now, overwhelmed by the celebrity of the Strauss

  • unfortunately, yes

  • Danke Waldteufel !

    (von Saillon, Wallis)

  • This waltz make me feeling like Vienna in springtime...C.M.Z. was Viennese like me:)

beautyful music, the sound is sooo typical of my home-town, so close for me....

  • One of my favourite composers , but it would be absurd to compare Ziehrer with The Waltz King.

  • Hi Karl. I think it wouldn't be absurd at all. Ziehrer's skills were amazing. They have always been underestimated. Have you heard his operetta music? It's very touching.

  • @karlwurtz Oh perhaps Carl can give Johann a good run for the money.

  • Hey, I love Johnnie Strauss too! (-:

  • Frankly, I think that Ziehrer's waltzes are more interesting than Johann Strauss II's.

  • Dogsledfan... I agree :-)

  • Everyone to his taste ;)

  • Totally agree although the Strauss family's popularity in comparison with other composers of the same kind is not a mere detail.
