These our great exercises however there is no difference between these workouts and other major sports. This is plyometrics football players do the same.
As a 40 year hockey player/coach, this is some of the better stuff I've seen. These excercises done right should build nice quick twitch muscles and a powerful core. Would be curious how they are used in a cycle/program... Nice form by the way...
Wow. Wow. Wow. Are you guys in Orlando, FL?! I've been looking for something like this out here, because I want to get back into hockey for university.....
Many people are uneasy about strength training for kids but i am a big advocate of body weight strength exercises such as pushup variations, lunge variations, assisted pullups or anything that will force them to learn bettter body awareness/control without stacking too much weight up. Any speed and agility/plyometric exercises should be fine using proper technique and no weight vest or strong resistance. Hope this helps.
Be sure your knee is not passing the toes when lunging. When doing your lunge you should be able to look down at the lead leg and see your toes without leaning forward. HINT: After your make your step your torso should then drop straight to the ground(not forward and to the ground)Both knees will have to bend to achive this.
@theword10 You can take a small pipe about an inch to an inch and a half and fill it with concrete. This works well. Around here in south illinois where sport shops with lots of items are rare you gotta improvise lol.
depends where you're from.. if you have hockey experts, corbettes etc. they'll sell those ladders, hurdles, even parachutes. Or try shopping online (hockey monkey is the biggest online supplier i think)
get yourself a stability ball - ball wall squats, one legged ball wall quats, then go check out bartendaz on youtube for upper body strength with the ultimate core workout with bodyweight
Your legs get much exercise from just skating drills alone. the leg muscle you want to look out for is the calve, playing football or rugby would improve your calve strenth greatly. however your thighs get a good enough work out on the ice and from walking. in hockey it is good to get a very strong upper body. mucle weighs more than fat and if you get lots of muscle nobody will take you down. ive been playing ice hockey for 3-4 years and my thighs are stronger than any1 in my school year or team
We used a lot of this workout for dryland training - it was amazing how much stronger we felt skating AND running! Thanks for sharing! (still can't do the push-ups)
I think this is a good video for those that aren't "Pros".. You don't need to do the most intense workouts to accomplish what needs to be done.. Your team probably just overworks you in your workouts.. So just some advice, don't make comments that make you seem like an arogant prick!!
you guys are both terrible, i play for the winnipeg AAA sharks(best hockey in westren canada for bantom) and you guys are like little school children compared to my workouts and my speed and agility. So just some advise, dont put something out that will just humiliate you
If what you do is SO much better, I think it would be great if you could post a video or at least tell everyone what you do for the workouts you do. Thanks.
naah dude i was serious i wanna get into shape for hockey season. do you just do it on you're own? or do you do it with you're team? I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything
what are you holding at 1:20?
