  • did you ever wonder what Paul meditated on? did you ever wonder how it was that he was able to write such Holy Spirit inspired words? did it ever occur how much the Scriptures were brought to life in his soul when the Holy Spirit took its sword-the word-and plunged it into the depths of his heart and mind? Paul didn't meditate on the book of Romans. the book of Romans is the inspired revelation of the gospel that Paul was made to see in the Old Testament.

  • ..but never think you will ever begin to truly understand any of it until you begin to comb the depths of the myteries found in it. once you do, you will then understand why Paul so easily could say:

    Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, Phil 3:8

  • there will be many times, where the infancy of our understanding, will demand that we crawl through some of the smallest passages found there, before we are able to stand up and walk again. and like fine wine, the richness of the treasure that is to be found in them will only increase with the months and even years of meditation upon these passages. indeed gain a good foundational comprehension of the whole Bible...

  • many have 'through the Bible in a year' reading plans that many are diligent to keep. which in truth is like trying to eat a whole turkey with all the fixings in one setting. the richness of wisdom found in the Bible is such that one could hardly say they are searching it as for silver. indeed the desire to know the whole Bible is essential. but when we walk with the Spirit, while at times he may have us soaring as fast as eagles through parts of it

  • his illustration of the british museum is even better illustrated by Solomon in Proverbs 2:1-5. this whole chapter is of great insight as to the proper and right approach, with its promised benefits, when searching the wisdom of God found in his holy word. an important characteristic is perhaps in verse 4:

    If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Prov 2:4-5

  • Lord help me to read your Word, and be saturated by it, in order to understand it, and may you be glorified and may I be changed upward toward your ways...
